Stryper Heralds The "Second Coming"
Frontiers Records is proud to announce the signing of iconic Christian rockers Stryper to a multi-album deal. The first release due out will be a new re-recorded collection: "Second Coming" will hit streets on March 22nd in Europe and March 26th in North America.
The album features sixteen tracks, including new recordings of fourteen songs from the band’s early years as well as two brand new songs recorded especially for "Second Coming" and is produced by Stryper frontman Michael Sweet.
Sweet commented, “We're really excited about this record. The re-recorded songs are sounding awesome…better than the originals in many ways! One word to describe the record? Heavier. We've hooked up with some great people - we've got new management, a great album, a great label. We just feel like everything is coming together, and hopefully some big things are to follow."
After a sabbatical for much of the 1990's, Stryper returned strong in the early 21st century. To date, the band has sold upwards of 8 million records worldwide and is a Dove Award-winner and Grammy nominee. More...

The Rockstar Ramblings: Lust, Glitter, and God
This week a start on the darker side with the Lust Boys followed by a Brazilian Christian band and then back to the sleaze with Glitter Magic. That’s right we are starting with drinking, finding God, and then back to drinking. It’s the circle of life, or the life of a spiritual alcoholic. More...

Christwire Covers The Maryland Deathfest
Christwire, a satirical site mimicking ultra-conservative Christian news outlets such as the Christian Post, has posted a show report online for the recent 2012 edition of the Maryland Death Fest titled "Exposed: Satanic Black Necrometal Posing A Grave Danger To Our Children". Enjoy some excerpts from a "good Christian's" breakdown of the festival below:
For four days in May, over Memorial Day weekend, hordes of Devil worshiping, drug crazed evildoers descended upon the unsuspecting city of Baltimore to participate in a bacchanalia of promiscuous sex, drugs, Satanic music, vandalism, arson, and enough horrid perversions in the eyes of the Lord to fill a entire library full of St. Peter’s books. This celebration of death and all that is evil made no bones about it’s purpose, titling itself “Maryland DEATHFEST”!
In order to discretely blend in so as not to arouse suspicion and suffer gruesome tortures at the hands of these heathen barbarians I donned the obligatory uniform of these so called “Metalheads”; A black t-shirt with Satanic imagery and symbols, a pair of torn, filthy jeans and faux snakeskin cowboy boots. Not able to bring myself to blaspheme the Lord, I donned a Stryper shirt which had not been washed anytime in the last decade, an adequate compromise. My hair is washed and clean cut, so I donned a long hair wig that had been soaked in beer and rubbed into the dirt to complete my disguise.
Surrounding the festival grounds were two electrified hurricane fences topped with razor wire. The outer perimeter was ringed by a moat filled with pig’s blood swimming with venomous Nepalese Deathshead Adders, while the inner perimeter was patrolled by packs of rabid, black dire wolves and syphilitic pit bulls. The entrance was staffed primarily by Hell’s Angels motorcycle gang members armed with chains, zip guns and steel pipes who took every opportunity to inappropriately grope females and rough up the males, confiscating illegal drugs from would be entrants (which I witnessed them snorting behind the port-a-potties later that day).
After passing through the gauntlet of brutality at the entrance to the festival, I witnessed many ghastly sights that will haunt me for all the days of my life. I will attempt to adequately describe them here, but some of these monstrosities are so shocking and perverse that they should not even be written down, much less read by good Christian men and women (and most definitely not children!)More...

Stryper Heading Out On Tour
The Yellow and Black Attack is back - Stryper is about to embark on a string of select dates worldwide starting May 10th at Tailgaters in Bolingbrook, IL just outside of Chicago. The following press release was issued:
"Stryper is one of the few bands from a decadent era that features 'All Original Members.' They continue to tour the world and produce Billboard-charting albums. Brothers Michael Sweet and Robert Sweet, along with Oz Fox and Timothy Gaines, make up the legendary hard rock quartet.

Anger As Art Finishes Recording New Album
LA thrashers Anger As Art have completed the recording of their 4th album "Hubris, Inc." Mixing is currently underway, and the band is looking for a late spring/early summer worldwide release.
Says mainman Steve Gaines: "We approach every album like it might be our last, so we put everything we had into it. It is a 14 song epic. 2 of the songs we consider to be bonus tracks – in that they illustrate the history of where Anger As Art came from.
"One is actually a song called 'Speed Kills' that was written for Abattoir in 1984 by Dan Oliverio and me. This was while we were still finishing the Vicious Attack album. Juan Garcia had just left to join Agent Steel, and Dan was a new member. He had the basic riff, and I added music and lyrics to it. Fast forward 28 years, and Mark 'the Shark' Caro (Abattoir lead guitarist) contributed the solo for this song. Nonetheless, this is an Abattoir song performed by all Abattoir members. A nice capstone for a band that had a hand in shaping what thrash became.
"The other one is a song originally done by Pagan War Machine. PWM was a short-lived band featuring myself and Jim Durkin (Dark Angel). It is actually the band that Anger As Art evolved from. Anyway, the song is called 'Rage And Retribution'. Jim was kind enough to offer the guitar solo for the song. In addition to Jim, bass guitar was played by my brother Timothy Gaines from Stryper! This is the first time he and I have ever worked together musically. And… the lead vocal is a trade off between me and Betsy Bitch. While on tour as Bitch last year, Betsy offered 'If you need female vocals, I am your gal.' Seriously, did you ever think you'd see the day when members of Dark Angel, Stryper and Bitch would appear on the same song? Somewhere, Al and Tipper Gore are choking.
"Also, Winterthrall / Semtex Vest/ Evil Dead vocalist Steve Nelson came in and dropped some epic black metal growls and screams on the song 'The Evil You Create.' A complete honor to be able to share this album with such luminaries in the metal world."
Stryper To Re-Record Old Songs For New Album
American heavy metal veterans Stryper have announced that their next release will consist of re-recorded versions of fourteen of their classics, in addition to three brand new songs entitled, "Bleeding From Inside Out," "Blackened" and "How To Live." A Twitter message from Strper frontman Michael Sweet reads as follows:
"It might be best for me to stop Tweeting about the re-record since it seems to be confusing many people. Here's the facts...
"We're tracking 17 songs - 14 old classics, 3 brand new songs. We're doing the record in phases, a little at a time. It won't be mastered until January, which means it won't be available until sometime after that. January is not the release date.
"We're funding this ourselves so it's a tedious, time consuming task that we have to do in phases due to extensive touring and other things going on between now and the end of the year. So sorry for the confusion and it will be worth the wait!"

Christmas Metal 2010 Roundup
Another Christmas is just around the corner, which means jolly fat men in red suits scaring the bejeesus out of crying children and uncomfortable dinners with family members who don't actually like each other. Stryper Comments On Covers Album
Michael Sweet of Christian act Stryper has checked in with the following statement about the band's upcoming all covers album:
"Hello everyone, long time no type! I've been very busy traveling and moving two homes into one and it's been a very slow process getting unpacked and settled. My apologies for not updating all of you sooner. I try really hard (and enjoy) keeping all of you in the loop on everything that we do.
"I wanted to let all of you know that the concept for 'The Covering' is very powerful and rings true to the power of God's love upon our lives. God's covering is transforming and life changing and we thought it would be very cool to visually portray that through the new artwork. Chris at Pale Horse Design has designed a character that represents the bad or 'the evil' side if you will, in us all. The booklet, (in comic book style) will tell a story of good conquering evil and therefore leading to the transformation of the main character. I received the front cover and I have to tell you that it's modern, powerful, edgy and thought provoking. It is awesome! More...
Stryper Checks In With Road Report
Christian glam rockers Stryper are hitting the road in support of the new album "Murder By Pride." Vocalist Michael Sweet has now checked in with the following road report:
"We had an eventful day on the 7th of August as we departed for Bolivia - trying to get out of multiple airports to hook up in Miami only to see Oz and Robert asked to exit the plane and then to sit at the gate, on the plane, for two hours. Apparently, some people tried to sneak on the plane and immigration pulled them off and went through the luggage. My first reaction was 'oh man, they arrested Robert and Oz!'
"I at least got a good laugh out of that thought. Although Tim and I were a little stir crazy, we took off on made our way to Bolivia. We landed close to midnight and made it through customs relatively quickly. We had a good amount of fans there to greet us (100+) and they had been waiting until 6 or 7ish... Robert and Oz made it in around 7 am and were a bit tired. I tell you, if anything there is a band that could plays the roles in a new Spinal Tap sequel, we are the guys! Everything that could happen usually happens to us and it's to a point where you just have to laugh. I laughed so hard yesterday my face was sore when I finally went to bed (4 am). We're still paying our dues and maybe, just maybe someday it's pay off and we'll be big 'rock stars' so we can look back on all the looniness and share our unique stories with our grandkids.... They most likely will never believe us!
"Anyway, they expect a very large crowd. We are performing in an outdoor amphitheater that holds 9-10 thousand. Should be an incredible night and a long overdue opportunity to play for our Bolivian fans. I count my blessings and I look forward to what the future will bring. Great things ahead."
