Chicago dark metal act Novembers Doom have commenced writing the follow-up album to the well-received "The Pale Haunt Departure" released earlier this year in March on The End Records.
Says lead singer Paul Kuhr about the forthcoming release:
“We are currently in the writing process of the new CD, and early plans are to begin recording in April 2006. The new material is a huge step forward in song writing, not only separating our sound from our peers, but digging deep into our roots of early Chicago death metal. Faster, heavier, and relentless. It will be quite difficult to label us in the ‘doom’ category after this release.”
Novembers Doom and Keen Of The Crow (featuring former members of MORGION) are the latest acts to be confirmed for the Heathen Crusade Metalfest, set to take place Saturday, January 21, 2006 at Star Central in Columbia Heights, Minnesota. Also scheduled to appear are Finland's Moonsorrow, Ireland's Primordial, Sweden's Thyrfing, The Chasm, Typhus and Todesbonden. Additional acts will be announced soon.
Chicago doom metallers NOVEMBERS DOOM have been added to the Windy City Invitational, scheduled to take place on October 1st in Chicago, IL, at The Metro. Vocalist Paul Kuhr made the following statement:
“We are extremely honored to be asked to perform on the inaugural WCI in our hometown, Chicago. The Metro is legendary, the stage and sound are incredible. It was important to us that we be there to represent our hometown metal scene. We'll be performing as part of the vanguard for the awesome line up this show has. The diversity of the bill is amazing, like no other festival in this country.
All the bands from The End Records (THINE EYES BLEED, LILITU, EPOCH OF UNLIGHT) will be performing back to back from noon until 2:00 PM. NOVEMBERS DOOM along with MACABRE, ACUMEN NATION and HURTLOCKER prove WCI is truly a representation of amazingly heavy bands not only from around the world, but also our hometown of Chicago, and believe me, we are not coming to disappoint!
The HURTLOCKER guys and us are going to donate 50 of our own shirts, 25 each, and our label, The End Records has 50 DISCS from a variety of their bands that we are going to give to the first 50 people through when doors open at noon. You have to come early, before 12:30 to score the free t-shirts and discs. So be sure and get there early to check us all out, grab your T's, discs and see some killer bands from the entire lineup all day long. See you there!”
Bands confirmed are as follows:
BURY YOUR DEAD
MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD
THINE EYES BLEED

Chicago doomsters Novembers Doom have posted the following message on their official web site:
"It is with much sadness, and genuine regret, that we, Novembers Doom, must announce a cancelation for our upcoming European performances this October. While making our final arrangements for travel, we have encountered many logistic and legal setbacks, including (but not limited to) crossing European borders with the proper paperwork and permits in time to allow us entry to perform the scheduled dates. Other business-related issues have come to our attention as well, making this trip difficult, and not as cost-effective as originally planned. We felt it was ideal to make the decision now, and work towards a proper tour in 2006, than cancel this trip at the last moment, and disappoint anyone that would come to see us perform. We regret not being able to appear at the ProgPower Festival in the Netherlands on October 1st, the Dutch Day of Doom IV on October 2nd, and the several shows booked in the U.K. for that week. We strongly apologize to the organizers of these shows, as well to the fans, and we do promise you, we are doing everything in our means to reschedule these dates, and perform in Europe for you in 2006.
"Novembers Doom will however complete our obligations to perform at the Day of the Equinox festival in Toronto Canada, on October 14th, 2005.

Chicago doomsters Novembers Doom have parted ways with bass player Mike LeGros. Mike played bass with the band for the past two years, and contributed to the recording of the upcoming CD, "The Pale Haunt Departure". "It was brought to our attention that he was not comfortable in the band due to creative differences, and the dedication to his instrument we required suffered because of this," the group said in a statement. "Very simply, it was time for a change, on both sides. Mike is an amazing person, and we are forever grateful for everything he did for Novembers Doom during his time with us. We wish him nothing but the best with DISINTER, NACHTMYSTIUM, and any other project he aligns himself with!

“We are happy to announce that the mixing process with the amazing Dan Swano is now complete. Dan worked many long days and nights to make sure we were 100% happy with the final product, offering several versions of each song. We could not be more pleased with this entire process. Dan is one of the hardest working people in metal, and he treated Novembers Doom as if it were one of his own projects. We have a great deal of respect for him, and our eternal gratitude for making this as perfect as it is. Swano fans won't be disappointed either, as there is a guest appearance on the CD from him.More...

The recording process for "The Pale Haunt Departure" is now complete, and the songs are in the hands of Dan Swano for the mix. Chicago's Novembers Doom have enlisted the services of Swedish producer/musician Dan Swanö (Bloodbath, Edge of Sanity, NIghtingale) for the final mix of the band's upcoming album, "The Pale Haunt Departure." Here is the official statement from the band's website:
We are proud to announce that we will be utilizing the enormous talent of Dan Swano for the final mix of "The Pale Haunt Departure." Dan Swano needs no introduction, but for those living under a rock for the past decade, Dan has been involved with some of the most influential and important metal bands of the genre. Only to name a few, bands such as Opeth, Katatonia, Dark Funeral, Marduk, Edge of Sanity, and Dissection have all been a part of the Swano legacy. The entire band being long time fans of Swano's, makes this an incredible opportunity for us and we believe this will not only a perfect choice for our music, but a true gift for our fans, as well as fans of Swano's work.
Recording is scheduled to begin on October 9th, and mixing with Dan should begin in late October / early November.
