Novembers Doom To Reissue "The Knowing"

Chicago, Illinois progressive doom metal act Novembers Doom has revealed details regarding the re-release of its album "The Knowing," which was originally released in 2000. The new 2-disc version is set for release on November 23, 2010 through The End Records.

Vocalist and fouding member Paul Kuhr commented by saying:

"To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the release of 'The Knowing,' The End Records is re-issuing this long out of print album which is one of the most sought after in the Novembers Doom collection. We wanted to make the reissue something special, so we decided to completely re-mix and re-master it in order to enhance the overall sound. Being able to revisit these recordings in a studio setting also allowed us to fix a few mistakes which have stood out in our ears for 10 years. Songs such as "In Faith" and "Silent Tomorrow" are now as originally intended. We realize many people are fond of the original recording and hate when bands "fix" old material, so for the fans of the original, we're including the original release as a bonus disc. It is an exact clone of the 2000 pressing, allowing you to hear both versions back to back. An expanded 24 page booklet accompanies this reissue with original photography by Tony Myles of Cage XXI, who we've worked with on the "Autumn Reflection" and "A Eulogy For the Living Lost" videos."

Here is "The Knowing" tracklisting:
2010 Edition - CD1
1. Awaken
2. Harmony Divine
3. Shadows of Light
4. Intervene
5. Silent Tomorrow
6. In Faith
7. Searching the Betrayal
8. Last God
9. In Memories Past
10. The Day I Return
11. Aura Blue

2000 Edition - CD2
1. Awaken
2. Harmony Divine
3. Shadows of Light
4. Intervene
5. Silent Tomorrow
6. In Faith
7. Searching the Betrayal
8. Last God
9. In Memories Past
10. The Day I Return
11. Aura Blue
12. Silent Tomorrow (dark edit)

Noctis III Metal Fest Ready to Make History

The Noctis III Metal Festival in Calgary, Alta. is ready to unleash a two-day extravaganza of high-octane metal, and Canada’s first ever metal conference.

The conference impacts the city Oct. 2, with a host of internationally acclaimed guest speakers and panelists, including former Megadeth founder and bassist David Ellefson, world-renowned music journalist Martin Popoff, Paul Masvidal of Cynic, David Gold from Ontario Canada’s doom outfit Woods of Ypres and Megawatt Mayhem co-hosts JP Wood and Kevin Woron.

Some of the scheduled topics cover what it takes to get signed these days, tips on landing tours, how to get endorsements and distribution deals, how to promote your band, DIY recording, metal concert photography, and the future of metal journalism.

Following the conference is an 18+ club night showcase at one of Calgary’s premier metal venues, The Distillery, where headliners Novembers Doom, Slough Feg and Ares Kingdom will be sharing the stage with local acts Kilyakai, Norrath, Truck and Tosca, starting at 7:30 p.m.

The two-stage main festival on Oct. 3 takes place at the University of Calgary. Cynic, Suffocation, Destroyer 666 and Aura Noir are among the acts scheduled to brutalize MacEwan Hall, while just a few strides away at The Den, Edmonton’s Death Toll Rising tears things up with A Bloodshed Nightmare from Siksika Nation, and Calgary’s Sacred Ally, Akakor, HROM and Fornication.

“(It’s) another show in Canada, which tend to be great shows for us, and the promoters having a keen interest in us and what we do,” enthuses Cynic's Masvidal. “They asked us if we’d like to speak and discuss songwriting and our creative process, and I was completely open to that. I thought it’d be interesting, and just being part of a collective seems cool. One of our managers is gonna be there, the head of our label is gonna be there, so it’s kind of a team effort.”

More info on the event, including complete list of bands and guest speakers, can be found online at www.noctisvalkyries.com.

Novembers Doom Premieres New Song Online

NOVEMBERS DOOM has leaked "Empathy's Greed," the third cut off their forthcoming full-length, to MetalSucks.net. The track is available for download/posting/sharing here.

"Empathy's Greed" comes from NOVEMBERS DOOM's forthcoming seventh LP, "Into Night's Requiem Infernal," which is due out later this year on THE END RECORDS. The album was recorded at Belle City Sound, tracked by Chris Djuricic (Engineer and Novembers Doom bassist), and mixed by Dan Swano at Unisound. The band comments:

"We're using the same Recording / Mixing formula we've used on 'The Pale Haunt Departure' and 'The Novella Reservoir'. In our opinion, the combination of Djuricic and Swano creates the perfect sound for us, and we've received nothing but stellar reviews of sound quality from this combination in the past.

"Every band hypes their new material, and says it's the best they've done, and the hardest and the heaviest... You can judge that for yourself in time. What we can say is that this is the first time going into a recording the entire band feels confident and believes the material will please fans of the band, as well as turn many new heads in our direction. It's dark, aggressive, and melodic, and compliments the last three releases." More...
