The Old Dead Tree Re-Issuing Early Releases

As previously announced, French dark metallers The Old Dead Tree are reuniting this year to mark the 10th anniversary of their iconic debut full-length, "The Nameless Disease." To celebrate, the band will perform the album in its entirety at Hellfest this June and is currently booking a French tour. But there’s more…

Sold-out for a couple years and now hard to find on CD, "The Nameless Disease" has been made available again digitally via iTunes, in a special “10th Anniversary Edition” with brand new cover artwork and no less than seven bonus demo tracks.

Still want more? Alright, then you will sure love what’s next. To really please the fans and make sure the group's whole catalogue is available, The Old Dead Tree unearthed a long-lost gem. Frontman Manuel Munoz explains:

“We finally accepted to dive deep through the roots of The Old Dead Tree and dig out our very first EP, ‘The Blossom.’ Only 1,400 copies were made back in 1999, so in order not to seriously annoy the lucky owners of the original CD version, we and Season of Mist decided to re-release it as an exclusive digital edition. ‘The Blossom’ is 4 songs composed and recorded by 4 friends just before one of them decided to give up with life. A bittersweet memory…”

Ommatidia Signs To Season of Mist

French melodic dark metallers OMMATIDIA have announced their sigiing to Season of Mist. OMMATIDIA was created by former THE OLD DEAD TREE members Nicolas Chevrollier (guitar) and Vincent Danhier (bass).

Nicolas and Vincent comments, "We have already enjoyed working together with Season of Mist for the three albums of The Old Dead Tree. We are therefore delighted to launch a new partnership for Ommatidia with the whole label crew that we appreciate on both professional and human sides! We fully trust them for giving us the opportunity to benefit from a real international promotion & distribution, among all the great bands on their roster."

"We're very enthusiastic about this first deal for Ommatidia", singer Guillaume adds. "We strongly believe in the support of Season of Mist and in the opportunity to work with a record company managed by passionate people. Our goal is clearly to give all the best chance possible to our music and signing with Season of Mist is probably the best start we could dream of."

OMMATIDIA's debut album "In this Life, or the Next" was recorded at Tour Fine Studio and mastered by Jens Bogren (Paradise Lost, Opeth, Katatonia, Soilwork...). The album has been scheduled for a March 21st, 2011 release.

The Old Dead Tree Disbands

France's The Old Dead Tree has issued the following announcement about calling it a day:

"The Old Dead Tree is no more. I wish I never had to write those words, but nothing is forever. These last few months, some disagreements started to grow within the band, regarding commitment and musical direction in the making of our fourth album. Those differences of opinions soon turned out to be a dead-end problem and led me to make the decision of ending the band’s activities.

"In twelve years of existence, The Old Dead Tree had its share of line-up changes. Of course, each of them has been an improvement, but they were also painful losses. And I don’t want to face that kind of loss again.

"Be that as it may, I am still extremely proud of the work we have achieved and I want to thank all the people without whom nothing would have been possible: past and present band members with whom I learned so much and had amazing times, our wonderful crew, our label Season of Mist, our tour booker K Productions, and especially the fans who supported us and encouraged us to go forwards. I wish them all the best in their future endeavours.

"This is now farewell."

Arkan Signs To Season of Mist

Season of Mist recently announced the signing of ARKAN, led by ex-THE OLD DEAD TREE drummer Foued Moukid. Here is the man's comment on the band's signing to the label:

"Season of Mist is a label well known for the variety and the prestige of its catalogue. ARKAN's first album "Hilal" is a mix of tones and moods, a journey between the magic of the south and the power of the north. It was obvious for us to sign with such a record company. What's more, working with such enthusiastic people about music is more than sharing a professional relationship, it is a human adventure. For all these reasons, we are very proud to work with Season of Mist."

The band's first album is entitled "Hilal" and will hit the stores on June 16th.

The Old Dead Tree Announce New Drummer

French metal act THE OLD DEAD TREE has issued the following update:

"The search is over, and a new drummer has now joined the band. The level of competition and skills among the few drummers who remained at the top of the crop was extremely high, but this guy logically outplayed everyone in the end. Indeed, we are very happy to announce that after having worked with us as a session musician for about six months now, Raphaël [Antheaume] has decided to join THE OLD DEAD TREE as a full-time member! For those who aren't familiar with him yet, Raphaël is the drummer of the French symphonic metal band PENUMBRA. As a professional musician, he is also involved in others projects and various music styles. If you want to find out more about Raphaël, you can check his MySpace." More...

The Old Dead Tree Enter Studio

French goth metal act THE OLD DEAD TREE will soon enter the Stage One Studio in Germany, to record their forthcoming album. The recording sessions will start on next June 3rd and last three weeks. Once again, the band decided to give trust to producer Andy "Master" Classen.

The band describes the new material as "a twisted and schizophrenic blend of evocative riffs and arrangements put together with an overload of sheer emotion. The new songs do widen the previous artistic borders without disavowing the typical musical identity of the band".

THE OLD DEAD TREE's yet to be named third album is tentatively due for a worldwide release in autumn 2007, on Season of Mist.

The Old Dead Tree Guitarist Departs

THE OLD DEAD TREE have announced that guitarist Nicolas Chevrollier is to leave the band soon. A founding member of the band, Nicolas has decided to focus on his family duties, as he will soon become a father. He went through a hard time making this decision, due to the strong friendship binding the members of the band. Here are Nicolas' words:

"My long term adventures with THE OLD DEAD TREE are coming to an end. I have made the hardest decision in leaving the band, since my family life is about to change with the soon birth of my son Adrien, due next July. This great event thus induced me in making that choice, after having made up those last nearly ten years in THE OLD DEAD TREE, my other family. There were so many changes since February 1997, when Manuel and I made the decision to create the band and act for our passion, building up our dream. We went through really hard times, especially with the demise of Frédéric, whom I'm thinking about now, but we also shared many moments of joy, happiness and emotion. I'm also very proud to have contributed to make THE OLD DEAD TREE be recognized and respected for all those years, and to have led it where it is now. The band is now ready for its international big break, and I sincerely hope it will make it, because it deserves it.

I also wanted to thank all our fans, old and new, all of those who follow and support us. Our music touching you is, for us musicians, the most beautiful reward. Thanks also to those who have been part of the band's life and history - you know who you are! And, of course, my last thoughts go to my three brothers in arms, music and riffs: my Manu, my Vincent and my Foued.

This unique human adventure will be part of my life forever.
Nicolas Chevrollier"

Nicolas will play on gigs scheduled until late June. A session guitarist will then replace him until his successor has been found.
