After 6 years of absolute silence, Beyond Twilight mastermind Finn Zierler has returned from the shadows with Zierler Projects. The progressive metal super group consists of:
Finn Zierler - Keyboards (Beyond Twilight)
Bobby Jarzombek – Drums (Rob Halford, Fates Warning, Arch/Matheos, Sebastian Bach, Iced Earth)
Per Nilsson – Guitars and Bass (Scar Symmetry, Kaipa),
Kelly Sundown Carpenter - Vocals (Beyond Twilight, Darkology, Epysode, Outworld) and
Truls Haugen – Vocals and Bass live (Insense, Circus Maximus).
For more info visit the project's official website here. Zierler comments, "I've had the idea in mind for some time now. All the guys in the matrix are amongst my personal favourites and have been it for years. As with any 'supergroup,' bringing together the best talent doesn't mean things will work out - however in this case it did. It's an absolute pleasure to work with each one of these great musicians - on every level.
Zierler also goes on to describe the music: “It’s a journey through my musical moods, brutal, nightmarishly technical, crushingly dark and very progressive. The performances on this album are simply inhuman, just a smashing and fantastic job by everyone involved.” More...
Danish/Swedish prog-metallers BEYOND TWILIGHT have made two very rare songs ("Eyes" and "Carousel of Life") from the band's 1996 demo "Lurking Fantasia" available for download at the band's official web site:
The band's leader, Finn Zierler, commented: "The album ['Lurking Fantasia'] will never be released. It was just a rough demo never meant to be released. But since we keep getting requests about it we've made a special for you. Please keep in mind I wrote the track 12 years ago and it was recorded 10 years ago 1996. It is just a demo". More...
After lots of hassle with the former singer Kelly Sundown Carpenter, Danish progressive metal band Beyond Twilight has finally finished the works on the new album "For The Love Of Art And The Making." It consists of one ongoing composition containing 43 sections, which are to be considered pieces of a puzzle. According to the label Massacre Records "the album [has] a meaning from start to end but if you set your cd player on shuffle new doors to the meaning of the album will open for you." The album will be released on April 21, 2006.
Only two days after the departure of their former vocalist Kelly "Sundown" Carpenter, Danish progressive metallers Beyond Twilight have announced Björn Jansson of Tears Of Anger as substitution. Comments the band:
"We are proud to announce that our new lead vocalist is Björn Jansson. Coming from Sweden we warmly welcome him as new family member in Beyond Twilight. We are absolutely thrilled about our new reinforcement. Björn is an outstanding vocalist and fits the band perfectly. This also makes it possible for us to finally use our base in Scandinavia bringing back and setting up our camp here. No doubt this is a healthy situation for us as for playing live and touring which we have been dreaming about for a long time. Björn is experienced and you might also know him from his albums with Tears Of Anger and Bob Katsionis Imagenary. When getting in touch with Björn we found out that he had been a Beyond Twilight fan for several years. What better commitment and conditions could we ask for? What really matters to us is that within less than 24 hours Björn showed his commitment by delivering vocal recordings. Not just vocal recordings but fantastic vocals in our own humble opinion. So there you have it!"
Danish metallers Beyond Twilight have dismissed widespread rumors that their upcoming album will feature the vocal talents of Symphony X frontman Russell Allen.
"The rumors spreading like wildfire about Russell Allen as new vocalist in Beyond Twilight were true for a while, but have now been cancelled," the group said in a statement. "Because of Russell Allen's busy schedule with Symphony X, his solo project, numerous other projects and features on numerous other albums about to be released, the band has found it hard to work with Russell and have cancelled their plans with him as new vocalist."
Although the band's debut album, 2001's "The Devil's Hall Of Fame", featured Masterplan/ex-Yngwie Malmsteen frontman Jorn Lande, "Beyond Twilight have kept focus on getting a permanent member of the band — not a 'project singer' or a vocalist appearing everywhere, and has found what they were looking for," the group said. "Stay tuned for somewhat of a news bomb, as we'll reveal the dark secrets of the name of the new acclaimed vocalist."
With regards to the upcoming CD, the band write, "Finn Zierler [keyboardist/main composer] went out of his way to create the new masterpiece. The songs came together in three very different stages, which saw Finn isolated from the surroundings. The first stage took place in a dark attic for three days, then Finn was submerged into a cold lake for another couple of days, and finally walking around the streets of London, living in cardboard boxes for four days. No musical instruments were at hand during these sessions, so Finn wrote down all the music on sheet paper, thus creating what is going to become the new Beyond Twilight opus."
Recordings for the new album are taking place at Tommy Hansen's (Helloween, Pretty Maids) Jailhouse Studio in Horsens, Denmark and in Jacob Hansen's (Raunchy, Illdisposed, Ancient, Manticora, Mercenary) Hansen studio in Ribe, Denmark (Keyboards, lead guitar and drums were recorded at Jailhouse, while the rhythm guitar and bass were recorded at Hansen.) Finn Zierler, Tommy Hansen and Jacob Hansen have been acting as engineers and producers on the recordings.
In other news, acclaimed producer and Invocator mainman Jacob Hansen has joined Beyond Twilight as the band's second guitarist. "Jacob is a perfect fit for the band, and the recordings has gone just perfect," Beyond Twilight said. "Jacob has brought his great skills and energy to the recordings. Beyond Twilight are extraordinarily happy with the new reinforcement."
