Devil You Know Working On New Album

Devil You Know has completed pre-production for a sophomore release with producer Josh Wilbur. The group will start the official recording process in early June. Howard Jones (vocals) states:

"Hey everyone, so we are all really excited as 2015 is going to be a huge year for DYK. I think spending quality time together sweating on stage and holding hands in vans, buses, planes, boats, trains and submarines has helped us become a true unit, and it's definitely showing in the new tunes.

"Josh Wilbur is super talented and he has a proven history of bringing out the best in bands, so we are excited to say the least. Now it's time to stop showering and shaving so we can transform back into metal mode and get to work! More news to follow in the coming weeks, people... It's on."

The band’s debut album, "The Beauty Of Destruction" (reviewed here), was produced by Logan Mader and mixed by none other than Chris "Zeuss" Harris. A video for a track off that previous album can also be seen below. More...

Devil You Know Cancels European Tour Dates

Devil You Know - the creative union of Howard Jones (ex-Killswitch Engage), Francesco Artusato (All Shall Perish) and John Sankey (Devovled) - will no longer be part of the upcoming European Machine Head tour starting on November 7th.

The band has issued the following official statement: "It is with much regret that we are forced to announce the cancellation of our upcoming U.K. and European dates supporting Machine Head due to business issues far beyond our control. We want to personally extend our apologies to the Machine Head guys and their entire camp and thank them for offering us such a great opportunity.

"To our fans, the last thing we want to do is let you down. We are devastated that we can't perform for you all and be part of an amazing tour with one of our favorite bands. As musicians, the five of us have a job we love to do and we are ready to get onstage and do it, but unfortunately the cancellation of this tour is completely unavoidable despite every attempt by us to make it happen.

"The business side of this industry is very ugly at times and this is one of those unforeseen instances where the band has to suffer. To put it mildly, we are extremely agitated by this situation and right now our hands are tied, but we are going to deal with it and forge on! We WILL tour Europe and the U.K. as soon as we possibly can and make it up to you all.

"Sincerely, Howard, Francesco, John, Ryan, Roy.” More...

Roundtrip To Hel, Part II

[Continued from Part I]

SATURDAY, 6/28 - 13:30

“That’s a killer e-cig; where’d you pick it up?”

Actually, the stranger on the bus doesn’t say that. At least not in English. And judging from his condescending glare from a row up and across the aisle, I’m thinking he doesn’t approve.

I exhale the last puff of vapor toward the ceiling and shrug uncomfortably.

Rachel exchanges a few words with him, nudges me on the shoulder. “He’s definitely not from here - I can’t recognize his accent - but he says you’re not allowed to do that on the bus.”

“If he’s not from here, why’s he lecturing other people on the rules?” I shoot the man a neutral nod. “This stuff isn’t affecting him.” Still, I put it away. Some people, man. Busybodies.

Through my vest pocket, I finger the boxy outline of the pack of Marlboro Reds I bought last night after I caved. Post-Dimmu, our gearing-down at Nikky’s place a few blocks away became a relaxed, languid, drawn-out gab session, leading us to miss the afterparty band, Amorphis. For shame. Harakiri shame.

Instead, we ended up at PRKL, another rock club, well after midnight. After buying the pack and stepping outside to smoke one, I nearly got myself flattened by a passing street tram. That was probably some kind of sign. More...

Devil You Know Cancels Upcoming Dates

Devil You Know - which released debut album "The Beauty Of Destruction" back in April - has issued the following announcement about cancelling upcoming shows and confirming others:

"Some good news and some bad news from the Devil You Know camp. Bad news first. As you may or may not know, three members of Devil You know are not U.S. citizens: John is Australian and both Francesco and Roy are Italian. Howard and Ryan are American.

"Unfortunately, we have come up against some logistical problems in getting our work visas in time for all of our upcoming European dates. Sadly, we've been forced to cancel some of the shows Devil You Know is slated to play in late June/early July.

"The good news is that we will be able to perform at England's prestigious Sonisphere Festival on Friday, July 4th. We are also extremely excited to be performing on mainland Europe on Saturday, July 5th at Germany's With Full Force Festival. These are both hugely important shows for Devil You Know and we can't wait to play for our fans, both old and new there. We are currently rescheduling these cancelled European shows as well as mounting a full tour there for the near future.

"Devil You Know just completed our first full-fledged tour of the United States with Black Label Society, Down, and Butcher Babies. The shows were great and the audiences were fantastic. This is truly a new beginning for the five of us! See you soon!" More...

Podcast

Metalunderground.com Official Podcast, Episode 7

Last week on Metalunderground.com's Official Podcast, we brought you two young and very special Canadian bands, The Kindred and Hollow. And sure enough on this week's episode, co-host Kevin Perez (n0thinghead) continues indulging in his love for progressive (and, coincidentally, Canadian) bands.

Toronto, Ontario's Intervals, formed in 2011 and until late last year a strictly instrumental band, have just debuted with the full-length "A Voice Within," within which you'll indeed find a voice: frontman Mike Semesky. Kevin considers some of the musical developments this shift in focus has spurred.

Next, co-host Mike Smith (OverkillExposure) makes a painful, heavy-hearted effort to dissect his conflicted feelings about the latest Iced Earth release "Plagues Of Babylon" (reviewed here). It is the veteran metal band's tenth studio album, and so far to Mike's ears, falls tragically short of the dazzling comeback that was 2011's "Dystopia."

Finally ensues a discussion of singer Howard Jones, the positives and negatives of his contributions to the mighty Killswitch Engage, and his brand new group dubbed Devil You Know.

Take a listen here, enjoy, and offer us your feedback.
