Hatebreed has been confirmed to perform at the 2011 edition of the Summer Breeze Open Air. The festival is set to take place from August 18th - 20th, and additional details can be found here. The organizers of the festival commented:
"Summer Breeze has already survived a few tremors over the last few years, but the most severe eruption of them all is yet to come. Hatebreed are gearing up to utterly destroy Dinkelsbühl in 2011 with their killer songs. No other band out there combines the attitude and aggression of hardcore and the uncompromising heaviness of metal in such a perfect way. Scene icon Jamey Jasta and his wrecking crew are the epitome of unleashed energy, the embodiment of credibility, the essence of groove, the purest form of brutality, the rulers of all pits and the blueprint for a whole generation, all rolled into one. Please welcome one of the most important and influential bands of the last decade for the first time at Summer Breeze! Hard, harder, Hatebreed!"
The currently announced lineup is as follows: Arch Enemy, Tyr, Kvelertak, Suicidal Tendencies, Bolt Thrower, J.B.O., Witchery, Farmer Boys, Kalmah, Hail of Bullets, Corvus Corax, Hammerfall, Skeletonwitch, Excrementory Grindfuckers, Kampfar, Hayseed Dixie, Turisas, Marduk, Sonic Syndicate, Decapitated, Moonsorrow, Sodom, and Hatebreed.
The organizers of the Summer Breeze fest have issued the following announcement about Hammerfall headlining the 2011 edition of the festival:
"Merry Christmas! Now that we're halfway through our Advent Calendar, which has had plenty of killer bands so far, we want to present you the first headliner for Summer Breeze 2011: Hammerfall.
"They are one of the most relevant and successful heavy metal bands of the last 15 years, yet they have never played at Summer Breeze. It's about time to change that! We are extremely happy to present Hammerfall as one of this year's headliners! The undisputed leaders of true metal have loads of metal anthems and catchy melodies under their belt, after they almost single-handedly put traditional power metal back on the map with their glorious 1997 debut 'Glory To The Brave.'
"And what started as a fairytale became a metal dream come true, including high chart entries all over Europe for every one of their seven studio albums. If each of you goes back in time for a minute, you will certainly remember at least one metal party where you were banging your fists singing along to hymns such as 'Steel Meets Steel', 'Hearts on Fire' or 'Heeding The Call'. To put it in their own words: 'Brothers unite! Let's stand up and fight!'" More...

Greek thrash act Suicidal Angels has issued the following statement regarding a recent show with Bolt Thrower and announcement about working on a new album:
"At last, the 30th of May came (and went so fast...) We were anticipating that gig with Bolt Thrower for so long and for so many reasons. Our long absence from the Athenian stages being one of them. We want to send out a great hail, to our brothers in arms, Inveracity, who opened for the concert. We have been influenced greatly by that much respected band, more work-wise, less musically. They deserve all the best and we hope to see them rise as much as they deserve some day.
"As for Bolt Thrower, no words can describe the individuals that form this machine, nor the machine itself. Old friends of ours, open-hearted and simple, while other 'big bands' play divas, Bolt Thrower just have a good time playing the music they (and we) love. Many many thanks, for letting us use their own backline! That's very important and helpful for the support bands of a concert. Again, thank you very much!
"We'd also like to thank Harry Katinakis for inviting us, our sound engineer and crew and all our old and new friends, the crazy ones who drove from every corner of Greece just to be in that concert. We'll see you soon again, we know it and you know it. On further news regarding the band, we will be leaving tomorrow for Germany. On June 2nd, we start recording the successor of 'Sancitfy the Darkness.' We will be working once again with R.D. Lia in Music Factory & Prophecy studios and we can already assure you, that it's gonna be a thrash mayhem, nothing more or less. More...

Bolt Thrower is seemingly one of the more forgotten bands when it comes to looking at the history of the British death metal and grindcore scene. They were formed in the city of Coventry in September 1986 and went on to release their debut album, "In Battle There Is No Law," in 1988 through Vinyl Solution Records. Unsatisfied with their record deal, the band moved over to Earache Records, which housed many of their contemporaries such as Napalm Death and Cathedral. Bolt Thrower struck up a deal with British model store Games Workshop and the chain store's main artist, with the band giving away a free record with the store's magazine, White Dwarf. In return, Games Workshop did the band's artwork for free for their next album, "Realm Of Chaos."
Since then, Bolt Thrower has continued to perform live and record new albums, although some speculate that the band may never record another album again, given how satisfied they were with their latest album, "Those Once Loyal." The band stated that they always planned to stop releasing albums once they felt they had recorded the "perfect Bolt Thrower album," a feeling they seemed to have secured with "Those Once Loyal." Bolt Thrower remains a big influence on modern death metal and deathcore, with German deathcore act Heaven Shall Burn naming their debut EP "In Battle There Is No Law" after the band's first album.

Greek thrash act Suicidal Angels has been confirmed as support for Bolt Thrower at a show in Athens on May 30th. The band issued the following statement about the show:
"For the first time in their huge carreer, Bolt Thrower will honor us with a great live gig in Athens on the 30th of May! We are proud to share the stage with the old-school death metal giants from the UK and we are sure that this concert will leave a mark on everyone for the rest of our lives... Once more, Bolt Thrower do a great thing by keeping the ticket fee as low as possible (20 euros), thus depraving any excuses from not attending the show!!! Furthermore, we will share the stage for the first time with our old friends, Inveracity, probably the best death metal band in Greece, and not only... So, we are looking forward to this special concert, it is going to be an amazing experience for all of us!"

Earache Records is set to release a special 118-track, 3-CD compilation called Grind Madness At The BBC (The Earache Peel Sessions), featuring some of the first ever grindcore recordings. The tracks are all taken from the legendary John Peel's early BBC radio sessions, which were recorded at the Maida Vale studios in London, UK between 1987 and 1990, and mark a historic moment in the world of extreme music.
John Peel was a huge supporter of the label and it's extreme bands, offering the likes of HERESY and NAPALM DEATH the chance to lay down some tracks for his national UK radio show.
The three-disc set features 118 tracks of classic recordings from Napalm Death, Carcass, BOLT THROWER, EXTREME NOISE TERROR, GODFLESH, Heresy, UNSEEN TERROR and INTENSE DEGREE, combining to a total running time of over three and a half hours.
The three-disc set comes housed in a slipcase sleeve and includes an extensive interview with ex-Napalm Death drummer and inventor of the term "grindcore", Mick Harris. The collection will be released on October 12th.
