Finnish speed metal outfit Ranger has signed to Spinefarm Records, and the band will be recording its label debut album this Fall, with a release expected in early 2015. Spinefarm comments:
"These young metal merchants sound as though they came straight out of the '80s and adapted their own style for a new generation of thrash and speed metal fans. Or, as singer/bass player Dimi Pontiac likes to say, 'Skull-splitting METAL for maniacs pure!'
"Ranger nailed something that eludes them from the majority of 'retro' acts. Fans of Agent Steel, Exciter, Razor and classic teutonic metal, beware!
"The band started in Helsinki, Finland in 2008. After three demos, the band gained quite a cult status in Europe, which resulted in their first two releases on Ektro Records: the MLP Knights of Darkness (2013) and the recently released 7" single 'Shock Skull.'
"Ranger has already played many club shows in Finland and appeared on various Finnish festivals (Tuska, Ilosaari, Porispere, Jalometalli) and on European stages (Keep It True, Muskelrock, Live Evil)."
Until the new album arrives in 2015, have a listen to the "Shock Skull" single below. More...

"Following hot on the heels of last year's Knights of Darkness debut, Ranger is back to deliver another dose of Megawatt Mayhem and inject an overdose of adrenaline straight to your veins. The aftershock of their widely celebrated Knights of Darkness may still ring in your ears, but these Finns give you no remorse by unleashing two new songs here, the title track 'Shock Skull' and then 'Omen of Doom' on the flip.
"It's your one-way-ticket to the world of heavy metal filled with roaring Marshalls and thundering drums that make you headbang until your neck cracks. You already know the game: ride with these guys and the devil is your co-pilot. The Knights of Darkness have returned to take command...heed the call of RANGER!"

Organizers of the Keep It True Festival in Germany have announced that the Saturday headliner will be the reunited Dark Angel, with original vocalist Don Doty, Eric Meyer (Guitars), Mike Gonzalez (Bass) and new guitarist Justin Zych. Ektro Records is proud to announce the release date for Ranger's "Knights of Darkness" debut MLP, which shall be unleashed internationally on September 6th, 2013. The following press release was issued about the album:
"A four-piece heavy metal unit, Ranger shifts into overdrive with Knights of Darkness, the young Finns' first official release after three cult demos. Prepare to be mangled, thrashed, and shocked when you drop the needle on this brute. Ranger' debut MLP is the real-deal pounding metal you haven't heard in ages. This music is based on the very essence that makes heavy metal music so powerful: a vocalist that sounds like a banshee on the attack, double-lead guitars that send shivers down your spine, and drums hammering like a freight train on the loose.
"Ranger will split your skulls, one by one, with their intense energy and power that can be heard in every single second of this release! For reference, think old Slayer, Running Wild, and Tyrant (US) in a car crash on the way to Hell, but 666% Ranger: the Knights of Darkness are on the march, and there's no escape!"
The track listing is as follows:
2. Touch Of Death
3. Steel Dawn
4. Supreme Evil
5. Knights Of Darkness More...
