Exciter Reunites With Original Line-Up

After a series of cryptic announcements via Facebook, the Canadian old school metal pioneers in Exciter have made the announcement that the original trio of John Ricci, Dan Beehler and Allan Johnson will be reuniting and playing their first confirmed gig at the Keep It True Festival on April 24th of 2015. The classic line-up plans to record new material as the first order of business this year.

This announcement comes after a string of conflicting posts made on the Exciter page in the past six weeks. Originally, a status update was posted on Feb. 24th stating that John Ricci was retiring from the band. Ricci vehemently countered that he only wanted to step away to regroup from some unpleasant personnel dealings in the band.

Then on April 4th, a status update appeared saying that bassist Rob 'Clammy' Cohen had been dispatched from the group. Vocalist Kenny 'Motor Mouth' Winter then posted on April 7th about a hiatus he was going to take to work on another project, followed by a post from John Ricci about 'big news' being on the horizon shortly.

Here is the official announcement from John Ricci himself, posted on Exciter's Long Live the Loud page. More...

Sunday Old School: Exciter

You know you're old school when you've had an album on Shrapnel records and can count eleven full-length albums among your repertoire. This is where the story of Canadian thrashers Exciter begins - way back in 1978. They began as Hell Razor and changed their name out of homage to the Judas Priest song and put out a demo, getting the attention of the legendary Mike Varney. He was the head of Shrapnel records, a label that catered to the forefathers of American thrash and all the classic guitar heroes. Mike put Exciter's track "WWIII" on his second compilation, "US Metal Volume II" in 1982. The debut, "Heavy Metal Maniac," followed on the label in 1983. This album already had great hype as a nine-song tape traded overseas, and ten thousand metalheads had put in an order for it upon its release. More...

Exciter Album Seeing North American Release

Massacre Records is proud to bring the latest album from long running Canadian thrashers Exciter an official North American release. The label commented:

"Since helping to forge the North American thrash movement in the '80s EXCITER's layered 34-year career has elevated them to legendary status, and their most recent album, 2010's Death Machine delivers nine-songs of the expected headbashing mayhem fans worldwide have come to expect from the outfit. Featuring founding guitarist and mastermind John Ricci, singer Kenny Winter, bassist Rob Cohen and drummer Rich Charron, EXCITER once again worked with longtime producer Manfred Leidecker who produced nearly all of the band's releases since 1990.

"The production on Death Machine compliments the grinding rhythms and speed that has held the band's name as one of the most classic speed metal bands ever, while lyrically the the theme of the album addresses sadistic unforgiving torture and the demented individuals who deliver such horrific pain and suffering onto others."

The "Death Machine" track listing is as follows:

1. Death Machine
2. Dungeon Descendants
3. Razor In Your Back
4. Pray For Pain
5. Power And Domination
6. HellFire
7. Demented Prisoners
8. Slaughtered In Vain
9. Skull Breaker
