Today, Iron Bonehead Productions set November 25th as the international release date for Bölzer's massively anticipated debut album, "Hero."
Hailing from Switzerland, Bölzer is one of the most unique entities the metal underground has birthed in years. For one, Bölzer is proudly and resolutely a duo, using the barest essentials of voice, guitar, and drums and yet creating one of the densest, most world-eating sounds around. For another, the duo have wisely and patiently parceled out their recordings, with a lone nine songs to date across three records - 2012's "Roman Acupuncture" demo, 2013's Iron Bonehead-released "Aura" EP, and 2014's "Soma" EP - judiciously chronicling the band's evolution into one of the most critically acclaimed metal bands in recent memory. And yet, "critical acclaim" has never been a part of Bölzer's agenda: the commitment is to art alone, but it just so happens that word-of-mouth built organically (and feverishly), especially on the strength of the devastating, soul-draining live performances, where the band can recreate every aspect of the records in the flesh. Today Bolzer is streaming the entirety of the forthcoming "Soma" EP, which can be heard below thanks to Noisey - Music By Vice.
"Soma" is set for international release on August 5th via Invictus Productions. The following press release was also issued about the band:
"Hailing from Switzerland, Bolzer is one of the most unique entities the death metal underground has birthed in years. Last year, the duo unleashed the Aura MLP, and it became one of the most critically acclaimed metal records of 2013. Bolzer continued their ascent with live performances that are now spoken of in reverential tones, capped off by two utterly devastating performances at this year's Maryland Deathfest. At long last, they are set to release the much-discussed Soma EP.
"Soma consists of two odes to the goddess Luna, set amidst a thematic backdrop of war and the surrender of the fleshly temple. The tonal and conceptual qualities will contrast the themes of spiritual birth and phallic solar worship offered on Aura, ultimately perpetuating the cyclical struggle of energies. Bolzer accomplish this musically with molten metal even more daring and diabolical, more harnessed and hysteric, than the mighty Aura. And their ascent continues..." More...

Aeternus and Mitochondrion will not be making it to Maryland Deathfest 2014 as a result of visa issues. The festival organizer commented:
"Regarding Aeternus, it's a complicated ordeal to explain, but in a nutshell, the USCIS fucked up and gave them a visa date valid only until the day BEFORE they were supposed to leave the US. The original request was for visas valid until June 1st, but this error on behalf of the USCIS was not noticed until they were at the airport today and the airline told them they could not fly to the US. Frustrated? So are we, and so is the band. This is the first time a band actually received visas and still ended up cancelling for some reason."
"BÖLZER will be playing a second set at Rams Head tomorrow night. We will update the schedule tonight reflecting that change."
"Regarding Mitochondrion, we don't really understand what happened, but it had something to do with being stopped at the Canadian/US border and sent back home. We have a lot on our plate right now, as you can probably imagine, so please be patient and stay tuned regarding schedule changes to the Sunday shows at Rams Head."
The organizers of the Helvete Underground Festival have checked in with the following announcement about the lineup:
"Renowned worldwide for the past 30 years, the Swiss black metal scene owes its fame primarily to bands like Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, and Samael. In parallel to the major formations mentioned above, the Swiss black metal scene did not know any peace between the formation of Hellhammer in 1982 and today. Quite the contrary.
"More than 30 years after its first black metal band was born, a handful of activists from Geneva’s underground culture are gathering to organize a major cultural event which focus is to rehabilitate and pay tribute to black metal, this hidden part of Switzerland’s musical heritage.
"Therefore, it’s with infinite honor and pleasure that we announce you the full line-up for this very unique three-days celebration.
"With the likes of Darkspace, Borgne, Bölzer, Rorcal, and many more, we intend to pay tribute to the greatest facet of the Swiss underground black metal scene.
"Extreme music fanatics worldwide: welcome to the Helvete Underground Festival. Please reserve the dates - October 2-3-4 - and organize your trip to Geneva, Switzerland, for this is going to be one of the greatest extreme music festivals of the year."
Bolzer has announced May 13th as the release date through Iron Bonehead for the 12" vinyl "Aura." The following press release was issued about the band:
"Switzerland's Bolzer is one of the most unique entities the death metal underground has birthed in years. Following on from their well-received Roman Acupuncture demo (which was reissued by Iron Bonehead Productions), now Bolzer stake a stronger claim for supremacy with the brand-new Aura mini-album.
"With one foot planted in their native land's legendry (namely Hellhammer) and another one planted in a cosmos far away, this duo weave dread-inducing decibels that strike and recoil, bewitchingly serpentine in flow. The Aura is simultaneously chaos harnessed, and chaos unleashed: bask in its glow. Recommended for maniacs of Vassavor, Grave Miasma, and Essenz."
