Masked metal band Mushroomhead has entered the studio to record their seventh studio album at the Filthy Hands compound in Cleveland, Ohio. The album will be released this summer through Megaforce/Epic Records.
Drummer/producer Steve "Skinny" Felton says: "Hell yeah, let’s go, after producing the last six albums I know what these guys can do and once again they are killing it! The cool thing about working with Mushroomhead is that there is always an idea on the table and someone brings it to the next level. Everytime someone tracks they raise the bar for the rest of the records, Thank God! They call each other out, they play each others parts they even fist fight! Their passion is undeniable and that is what rock & roll is all about! The sound is super dark and creepy and even violent at times."
Keyboardist Shmotz added "The new album is off to a great start and is full of aggression and intensity, although it is tough to be creative and keep a solid drug habit with all of the illegal downloading and file sharing these days!"
Mushroomhead has entered the Billboard DVD Chart at number 7 with their latest visual offering, "Volume 2." The disc features two and a half hours of content, including live footage from the three-year “Savior Sorrow” tour; music videos including “1200,” “Simple Survival” and the brand new video “Save Us”; video commentary and behind the scenes footage. The band has also confirmed that they will be entering the studio in January to record a new studio album, with plans to release it in the Spring.
Cleveland based metal band, Cellbound, have posted a video for the title track of their forthcoming album, "Fallen Angels of Sui Caedere," on Youtube. The video was directed by SS Productions which is Mushroomhead’s own Steve "Skinny" Felton and Rick "Stitch" Thomas.
Cellbound’s CD, which will also feature the video, will be released on October 31st. Cellbound will be supporting Mushroomhead at their world famous 15th anniversary Halloween Show at the Cleveland Agora.
For more information on Cellbound, check out their MySpace page.
It took almost three years to arrive, but the new Mushroomhead DVD is almost here. The band will release “Volume 2,” the follow-up to 2005’s “Volume 1,” on October 28 on Filthy hands/Megaforce Records.
The disc features two and a half hours of content, including live footage from the three-year “Savior Sorrow” tour; music videos including “1200,” “Simple Survival” and the brand new video “Save Us”; video commentary and behind the scenes footage.
“Most bands release DVDs that don’t have anything but live or backstage footage,” says sampler Stitch. “Keeping the spirit of the old Pantera home videos, we always try to have more of the behind the scenes antics and drama that shows the human side of Mushroomhead and what goes on when we are not onstage. Everything about this home video is personal and we filmed and edited all of the content. If you own Volume 1 then Volume 2 will blow your f—ing mind.”
To support the DVD, Mushroomhead will hit the road with The Autumn Offering, XFactor1 and Human Factors Lab. Dates start October 3 in Findlay, Ohio and run through November 2 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After the tour, Mushroomhead will return to the studio to start recording their next album. The disc is scheduled for release in spring 2009.
After about a month in the studio, Mushroomhead will take a break to head out on tour with Brujeria, the ramshackle death metal band reputed to be composed of Mexican outlaws and murderers, but which is actually an underground supergroup that reportedly includes Carcass bassist Jeff Walker, Napalm death bassist Shane Embury (on guitar), Witchery guitarist Patrik Jensen and At the Gates drummer Adrian Erlandsson. Those dates kick off November 29 in Los Angeles and run through December 7 in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Autumn Offering will kick off a month long tour with Mushroomhead on October 3rd in Findlay, OH. The band also has a few headlining dates scheduled in November. Recording of their new studio album will begin on December 3rd with producer Logan Mader (Calvalera Conspiracy, Divine Hersey). An early 2009 release is expected.

In a follow up to last week's announcement, Chicago based Machine / Metalists Marazene have announced that MUSHROOMHEAD percussionist Dan 'Little Dan' Fox will fill in for them on drums on their upcoming tour.
Drummer and co-founder Kristov Kemp had confirmed to the band only last week a cancer relapse that will require immediate chemotherapy treatment and which will force him to sit out the Fall tour.
The blog posted by multi-instrumentalist and co-founder DieTrich Thrall follows:
"MARAZENE would like to thank the entire SkumF***er Nation for all of your support following last weeks disappointing announcement regarding our brother Kristov's current health crisis.
"Marazene understand the importance of a touring opportunity for an independent band such as ours. While bands such as Static X, Nine Inch Nails, or Korn could easily reschedule a National Tour, Marazene are forced to consider numerous pros and cons. So many logistics had to be in the bag by the time we got the update on Kristov's health situation. We could all just turn around, throw in the towel, and give up but that's not Kristov's way of dealing with his health nor is it our way of dealing with our band.
"Kristov needs to focus on fighting this. He can never be replaced. That can never be questioned. He'll be back. And Marazene will only be stronger in the long run.
"We're fortunate to be in the right place at the right time to have Dan 'Little Dan' Fox jump on board to cover live drums with such little notice. He's an amazing talent and probably the only person in the world who could've filled in for our brother Kristov during this generally shitty turn of events. A very special thanks goes out to him.
"And so on behalf of Marazene and with Kristov's full endorsement, Marazene will continue forward with our Fall tour plans!
"Special thanks and mention go out to members of Mushroomhead who have patiently stood by us as we decided how best to proceed with the tour.
"Marazene have always endured on the very hard work of it's team and the unwavering support of our friends and fans! None of this would be possible without you and we thank you again for sticking by us during this difficult time!"
Kristov Kemp was first diagnosed with intestinal cancer in May 2006 and had surgery to remove a cancerous growth and numerous lymph nodes followed by chemotherapy for much of the remainder of the year. Despite the intensive treatment, he continued to perform with Marazene as they toured the Midwest in support of the self release of their debut album, 'MachiNation'.
Marazene only weeks ago announced their upcoming tour with Megaforce recording artist MUSHROOMHEAD and Metropolis records PSYCLON NINE. The three bands had previously toured together for four weeks in the Spring.
MUSHROOMHEAD will hit the road for a fall tour to support their new album Savior Sorrow, which has sold over 75,000 since its release.
A new video directed by Mushroomhead for 'Tattoo' will be released for Halloween. The visionary masked band combines theatrics with a mixture of rock, metal and atmospheric elements.
