Crest Of Darkness Releases Music Video

Norwegian black metal band Crest Of Darkness just released a video for the title track off upcoming album "Welcome The Dead." Directed by Anders Børresen for MONITORmeda, the video for "Welcome the Dead" can be seen below. Commenting on the video, founder and frontman Ingar Amlien had this to say:

"We wanted to make a video that offers a glimpse into the dark world of Crest Of Darkness. Perhaps we are just story tellers recounting a fairytale, and the video can certainly be viewed and enjoyed at that level, but we are also touching on aspects of Life itself and those eternal questions that people ask themselves about life and death and the meaning of it all.

"We might not have all the answers, and in all honesty we don't even want to pretend that we do, but what we do want is to make people think for themselves, and find their own answers. Let's face it, we are all Gods. Each of us builds their own universe, and it just happens that the world of Crest Of Darkness is my universe."

New album "Welcome the Dead" includes a guest appearance by Norwegian actor Espen Reboli Bjerke, known for his extensive work in films, theatre, radio and television. Bjerke, who also won a Spelleman Award, the Norwegian equivalent of the Grammies, performs the spoken part on "Katharsis," the closing track on the album. More...

I was delighted when he agreed to do it, it's never easy to get actors of his standing to agree to perform on a music album. Of course it did help a bit that he is the brother of our guitarist Rebo!"

New album "Welcome The Dead" will be released on December 2nd, 2016 voa My Kingdom Music in both CD and digital formats, as well as a double LP format that will feature a special bonus track. More...

Crest Of Darkness Announces Lineup Change

Having recently announcing an EP release ahead of a seventh full-length album, Norwegian black metal band Crest Of Darkness today reveals a lineup change that sees the group become a three piece as drummer Bernhard (Pale Forest) joins the ranks alongside bassist and frontman Ingar Amlien and guitarist Rebo.

Amlien comments: "I’ve put Crest of Darkness through some major changes over the past few years, but there is nothing dramatic behind this. As I’ve often experienced in my career, things just happen in a natural way when the time is right, without being forced to take any drastic decisions. Both myself and my band mates are developing all the time, and as a consequence it is often necessary to make changes in order to keep up with that development, and that is as it should be with any band.

"I don’t expect everybody will agree with me when it comes to this decision but from day one I’ve had a crystal clear vision about what Crest Of Darkness should be like. I’ve always followed my vision and I intend to continue doing so. I am very excited about how the new material is sounding and I don’t think anyone is going to be disappointed with what is to come.

“I would like to take the opportunity to say how grateful I am for everything that our former drummer and long time companion Kjetil brought into the band. I wish him all the best in the future and I still consider him as one of my best friends! I would also like to mention Jan Fredrik who came into the band with a lot of enthusiasm last year and played some great gigs with Crest Of Darkness. Memories I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life."

It is this new lineup that is currently working on an EP to be released on My Kingdom Music, with a release date to be announced. More...

Crest Of Darkness Announces Quorthon Tribute

Crest of Darkness founder and frontman Ingar Amlien, together with drummer Kjetil Hektoen, will join members of Legiones, Enthral, and The Embraced in a specially formed band called Sythanagon Winged to perform five songs by the late Thomas “Quorthon” Forsberg, founder of Bathroy and one of the pioneers of the first wave of black and pagan/viking metal.

The event, which is billed as “Blood, Fire and Death – In Memory of Quorthon,” will take place on Saturday November 17th at the Fru Lundgreen in Trondheim, Norway. In Addition to Sythanagon Winged, other bands taking part include Chton, Cleaver, Law of the Horseman, and A Sorcery Written in Blood.

Commenting on the Quorthon Tribute event, Crest of Darkness' Amlien stated: “It’s a huge honour to be part of a tribute to an incredible musician. One who has influenced and inspired, and will continue to influence and inspire, generations of other musicians. It’s no exaggeration to say that many of today’s bands would probably not be around without him. Kjetil and I have been rehearsing hard with the rest of the guys and we are ready and very much looking forward to performing the Bathory songs and do them the justice they deserve.”

Crest Of Darkness Announces New Album

The first details of the latest album from Norwegian black metal act Crest of Darkness have just been revealed. Crest of Darkness will release a new ten track album titled "In The Presence of Death" on February 11th, 2013 via My Kingdom Music.

According to a press release, the album "promises to be the most complete, extreme and dark album the band has ever recorded." Recently the band also announced the addition of Djevelkult guitarist Jan Fredrik Solheim (aka Dødsherre Xarim).

Jan replaces the outgoing Kjell Arne Hubred, a seven year veteran with the band who was leaving to devote more time to his young family, which, according to frontman Ingar Amlien, was entirely understandable given that the band had plans to increase activity with the upcoming release of the album.

Solheim, he went on to say, has “brought a renewed sense of enthusiasm and purpose to the band, and as far as I’m concerned Crest of Darkness is sounding better and stronger than ever.”

Aside from Amlien on bass and vocals and Solheim on guitars, Crest of Darkness’ current lineup includes Rebo on guitars and Kjetil Hektoen on drums.

Crest Of Darkness Announces Lineup Change

Norwegian black metallers Crest of Darkness announced a change in lineup that sees the departure of Kjell Arne Hubred after a seven year stint with the band. His replacement will be Djevelkult guitarist Jan Fredrik Solheim. Founder and frontman Ingar Amlien commented on the departure:

"It’s sad to be saying goodbye to Kjell Arne after all this time, but he has a young family and with Crest of Darkness intending to work harder than ever, it was too difficult for him to devote the amount of time to the band that would be needed, and that’s something we understand. We’ve been very lucky in finding Jan Fredrik to replace him. He’s young, talented, highly motivated and has plenty of ambition. We’ve rehearsed with him several times and it was obvious that he knew Crest of Darkness' music long before he joined us.

"With the release of our new album imminent, he has brought a renewed sense of enthusiasm and purpose to the band, and as far as I’m concerned we’re sounding better and stronger than ever."

The band's latest release was the 2007 LP "Give Us the Power to Do Your Evil."
