Candlelight Announces CIII Label Tour 2009

Candlelight Records has announced its third label packaged tour for North America. Set to kick off on June 6, CIII will feature the talents of US black metal legends Absu, with support coming from France’s Glorior Belli, Austin-based Averse Sefira and Los Angeles-based Sothis. The tour will visit 22 cities throughout the US and Canada beginning in San Marcos, California and wrapping up in Dallas, Texas on June 29. Tickets for all shows are currently on sale exclusively at Enterthevault.com. Tickets will go on sale through all local and online ticket agencies starting March 5.

Absu’s self-titled new album hits stores nationwide February 24. Currently featured on the cover of Metal Maniacs, the album is the first to offer new material from the highly regarded metal band in nearly eight years. This will be the band’s first large-scale tour since their tour alongside Enslaved in 1997.

France’s Glorior Belli make their first trip to North America as they participate on CIII. Their sophomore record, "Manifesting the Raging Beast," was released in 2007 via Southern Lord Records. The band now, signed to Candlelight, will begin recording of their label debut, titled "Meet Us at the Southern Sign," this month with hopes to see it released during the tour.

Averse Sefira joins CIII continuing to support their latest album, "Advent Parallax." Their participation on the tour is their third national tour in two years having previously toured with labelmates 1349 in 2007 and with friends Immolation in early 2008.

Sothis released their debut, "De Oppresso Liber," on September 2. Mixed by Andy LaRocque (King Diamond), the record has enjoyed growing and consistent sales since release. This will be the band’s first national tour.

CIII follows the success of Candlelight’s previous label tours – the first in 2005 featuring Entombed, Crowbar, Pro-Pain & The Mighty Nimbus, and second in 2007 featuring Enslaved, Dark Funeral and then newcomers Abigail Williams. The label, maintaining offices in Philadelphia and London, continues to grow since launching American operations in 2001. Candlelight is distributed throughout the US exclusively via Caroline Distribution, EMI Music for Canada and Plastichead Music for the rest of the world.

Confirmed dates for the CIII 2009 tour are as follows: More...

Absu Provide Album Updates and Song Streaming

American black metal band Absu has announced the following concerning their new self-titled album:

"Texas-based mythological occult metal band Absu have posted the song 'Girra's Temple' from their self-titled new album due in stores February 24 on their official MySpace page. The song offers fans the first listen to material on the anxiously awaited new album that features an all-star array of guest musicians."

"Absu is the first new recording from the trio since their highly acclaimed album Tara released in 2001. Produced by the band with mixing assistance from J.T. Longoria (King Diamond, Solitude Aeternus), the album features artwork from Belgian artist Kris Verwimp. Drummer/vocalist Proscriptor says of the album's lyrical concepts, 'I am concentrating more on Sumerian-based occult themes of magick and mythology versus the Celtic aspect of my previous writings, which was heavily expressed on the last few Absu studio albums. Musically speaking, the material will be quite similar to Tara, but with more of a '70s progressive/psychedelic texture within it.'"

But after years of relentless emails from Ryan we've finally given in. It's hard to believe that it's been 14 years since we last played in the US, so we are very happy to announce that we are finally coming back. Bolt Thrower will be playing Maryland Deathfest VII, on May 22-24, 2009, at Sonar, Baltimore, MD."

Absu Ink Deal With Candlelight Records

Texas-based mythological occult metal outfit ABSU has signed a deal with Candlelight Records.

Proscriptor says of the deal: "With the launch of the new ABSU line-up, (members Aethyris and Vastator) and a new studio album in the works, I felt it was time to re-evaluate the career path of the band. Candlelight's expanding growth, as an independent label with their proven creative support, is one of the many reasons I feel this is the superlative opportunity for ABSU. New Absu Lineup, Album Details Revealed

Drummer/vocalist Proscriptor from the mythological occult metal outfit ABSU has released the following statement:

"After five years of silence, I am pleased to announce the new lineup of ABSU.

"It was a difficult task to replace both Shaftiel and Equitant after being together for nearly 11 years, but now is the time to carry on. Here is the new reorganization of the band:

* Proscriptor McGovern - Percussives, Mellotron, Voices & Lyrical Magick
* Vastator Terrarum - Guitars, Bass Guitar, Analog Synthesizers & Backing Voices
* Aethyris MacKay - Guitars, Bass Guitar, Analog Synthesizers & Backing Voices

"We have begun composing and arranging the material for what will be known as the self-titled album, simply called 'Absu'.

"In 2002, four out of 16 tracks were written; two of them we're keeping while the other two we're abandoning.

"We will begin recording in the latter part of autumn 2007 or early 2008 anticipating a release before June 2008 for Osmose Productions."

Proscriptor added: "Lyrically, I am concentrating more on Sumerian-based occult themes of magick and mythology versus the Celtic aspect of my previous writings, which was heavily expressed on the last few ABSU studio albums. Musically speaking, the material will be quite similar to 'Tara', but with more of a '70s progressive/psychedelic texture within it. You will not be disappointed - trust me. I will be utilizing the first logo created by Equitant and Belgian artist Kris Verwimp will handle the cover illustration once again."

In other news, Osmose Productions will re-release a remastered digipak version of ABSU's last studio album, "Tara", including the EP "In the Eyes of Iold?nach" as bonus tracks, in September.

"Seven tracks are completed so far and the new material will for sure surpass anything we’ve ever done before," the band write on their web site. "We are planning to start the recording of this as-yet-untitled album sometime early next year."

The Legion's debut album, "Unseen To Creation", was released last October through France's Listenable Records. The CD, which was recorded at Abyss Studios with producer Tommy Tägtgren, features "ten songs of complex and eclectic black/death metal, ranging in style from Morbid Angel to Setherial." The cover art was done by Kris Verwimp, who has previously worked with Marduk, Absu, and Immortal, among others.
