"some music was meant to stay underground..."

Golem

Formed: 1999
From: Italy
Last Known Status: Active

Background

The group was formed on April 1999, by guitarists Ottavio Marzo and Luca Roberti and drummer Damiano Porcelli and and bassist Alex Martiradonna. The band played an old-style heavy metal, similar to Iron Maiden, In the September '99, Luca left the band for some musical incomprehensions and Nicola Esposito (ex-Fearland guitarist) become the new member of the group. From this moment, the musical direction moved towards more aggressive elements as the melodic black/death metal or the epic metal direction.

In 2000, they record their first CD-demo called "Flames of Wrath" with other 4 new tracks. Immediately after the recording sessions, Alex left the band to join the army and was replaced by Domenico Bottalico.

On February 2001, Nicola left the band to be substituted by Matteo De Bellis from Requiem. He will come back after 3 months only as vocalist. With this line-up, on January 2002, they recorded "Death Never Dies."

Golem Working On New Album

The following message has been posted on the official Golem website:

We have now finished 11 new songs which will compose our first full-length album that the band will record in October/November 2004 in his personal studio. We'll also play in Bari, at Stop Over Pub, 24th September at Total Metal Festival with Eldritch, Marshall, Panic Cell, The Scavenger and more…

After this gig the band will rehearse the new songs and will play only mini festivals: probably the first one in October in Slovenia. More details will be available as soon as we have them.

Last but not least, we ask you to vote your favourite “Death Never Dies” song with an e-mail to info@golemneverdies.it, containing the title of the song and (if you want) a short comment. If you are lucky you can win an exclusive GoleM t-shirt and a copy of our new promo “Death in Progress...” See ya Metalheads!
