British death metal act Benediction has posted the following message online:
"Damnation... Fucking Hell!
"What else can we say?
"We had a fucking great day. Met up with a lot of old friends in the other bands and made a few new ones too. Without a single doubt though the top honours have to go to the crowds who made every band that played feel like the headline act. A credit to the metal scene, well chuffed. We did not expect the reaction we got when we walked on stage and it will stay with us for a long time. Thanks for the carnage. It was a fitting end to our tour to watch the mayhem unfold as we played. The world now knows that The UK has an extreme metal fest to match and better any other one about. Finally a big thank you to Gav and the rest of the Damnation organisers for keeping their promise and getting Benediction and our crew completely drunk. A job well done!"

In particular we would like to thank holy moses guitarist Michael who managed to fix just about everything that we broke on the tour!!! We love you matey.
"Now then, our plans for 2009.benediction will be going into the studio again in January/February to record the follow up to Killing Music. It is now written and its down to the fine tuning and choosing what tracks to be on the final recording. To promote this release the band will only be doing festivals and one off shows worldwide except for a Balkans tour which was missed out on the No Reunion Required tour. It will be our 20th anniversary as a band in 2009 and we intend to make some sort of event for ourselves for it. More...

"Well, that's it. We've recorded everything and now we have to let go of it. It is in the more than capable hands of the producer, Mick 'ginger c**t' Kenney of ANAAL NATHRAKH infamy. If you can imagine the crispness of the grind bastard album with the ferocity of ANAAL NATHRAKH on a disc then you will get the idea of what is to come. A lot of beer, football, hospitals, pubs, curries, kebabs, kitkats and crisps went into the making of 'Killing Music'! Thanks to everyone who popped in on the recording sessions to give support and drink our free beer! We look forward to hearing the finished product once Mick has weaved his ginger magic on our baby." Long-running UK extreme metallers BENEDICTION have issued the following update:
"Well, that went quick! We'd like to thank everyone who came to any of the festivals we played, and supported us in 2007. The biggest surprise for BENEDICTION was the response from you all when we hit the stage. It was not expected to have the crowd going crazy through every song we played at every festival, you all have very good memories for old songs! The fact that we have not released anything since 2001 made the support of us even more unexpected."
"Well, now we are in the middle of sorting our next release. 'Killing Music' will be in your grubby hands in early summer 2008. Things are going well and this year will see a whole new set list instead of just the 'greatest hits' that we have trawled around for the last few years. We hope that like in 2007, a lot of the festivals will want us on their bill and if they do, then we will be there." More...

Long-running British Death Metal legends BENEDICTION have posted the following statement on their MySpace page:
“OK, they’ve talked and talked about it for long enough. The boys will be going into the studio on November 21 (booked and confirmed!) to actually record the fucking album (Killing Music) at long last. It will be released at the end of March 2008 and a full tour will commence in April 2008 for God knows how long followed by as many festivals that will allow them to play!!! There will be at least 12 tracks on the final mix, maybe more, if the studio can keep them out of the bar for long enough. Let’s hope they manage to stay alive long enough to get in the studio considering the mayhem they cause by just popping out for a few drinks together!!! Get the ambulances ready, it’s gonna get messy.”
The line up of BENEDICTION consists of:
Dave Hunt – Vocals
Darren Brookes – Guitar
Peter Rew – Guitars
Frank Healy – Bass
Nicholas Barker – Drums
Vassil Varbanov of Bulgaria's Tangra Mega Rock recently conducted an interview with BENEDICTION bassist Frank Healy. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:
Tangra Mega Rock: To begin with, the world is avid to get your new album. When is it going to be ready?
Frank: We'll go in the studio on November 21 with a guy called Scott Atkins. He's the partner of Andy Sneap, who did our albums "Grind Bastard" (1998) and "Organised Chaos" (2001). The CD will be out at the end of March 2008 on Nuclear Blast Records, as always.
Tangra Mega Rock: It's been six years since your latest effort "Organised Chaos" came out. Why did it take you so long to start working on a new record?
Frank: We're just incredibly lazy, he-he... No, we had problems with drummers that we weren't happy with. After Neil Hutton, who played on most BENEDICTION albums, originally left in 2005, we were using stand-in drummers live. However, Neil's back now and he'll record the next album as well. We've been using Nick Barker a bit live, but he's too busy at the moment, so we're gonna stick to what we consider the best BENEDICTION line-up.
Tangra Mega Rock: They say you guys are monsters on stage.
Frank: Monsters? Does it mean we're bloody ugly or something?
Tangra Mega Rock: I don't know, ha-ha!
Frank: I know we've got a reputation of being essentially a live band. When we're on stage there's no choreography or something — we're just playing and enjoying it with the fans. In a live situation you've gotta have a really good reason to go after BENEDICTION, because we're quite aggressive. The whole stage belongs to us. We are the band of the day on any show, any festival, anywhere. No matter whether we're at the bottom or top of the bill, we play as if we are the headliners. We're totally into the music.
Tangra Mega Rock: In death metal you can often find lyrics based on religious topics. However, Benediction is a bit apart of this tendency. What is your attitude towards religious topics in music?
Frank: It's everybody to their own, you know. I might not tell other bands what to play or sing about, and I don't really care. We're not a political or religious band in any way, and we don't want to preach anything to anybody in any ways.
Tangra Mega Rock: Finally, could you give us some more details about your upcoming album?
Frank: It's called "Killing Music" and it should contain 12 tracks. We'll start recording on November 21 and it will be out in the end of March on Nuclear Blast, which we've been with nearly as long as the label's been alive — 17 years. We're good friends, and we can still talk to the boss Markus Staiger. Our relationship with him has always been good, and we're not gonna let him down with this album. It's gonna tear his head off in the office!
