Tomas Lindberg Leaves Nightrage

Nightrage has left this message on their official website:

Hi Boys and Girls.

The last months it has been a lot of activety without you guys knowing it. A lot of stuff is going on in the future and we aim to take Nightrage to a new level. This take a lot of effort and time so it has brought us both some good, and some bad news.

The bad news first. Tomas has decided to leave us and here is his statement:

"Dear fans of Nightrage and metal in general, I´m sad to announce my departure from the mighty Nightrage. This is a band i joined some time ago to help my friend Marios out. But over the course of time I´ve grown deeply fond of being a part of this extraordinary band. But as you might know I´m a busy soul and have no other option that to give up one of my projects, only becuase of lack of time. My only comfort is that Nightrage now can continue at full speed without me holding them back. But i will continue to follow their career, cause i have great expectations for the future of this band. Hail Marios! Hail Nightrage."

But this metal machinery got to keep on moving and the good news is that we have found a new killer singer, Jimmie Strimell (picture) and he will blow your mind. We have started to rehearse some songs and he has added a lot to the songs with his voice and charisma. Here is his statement:

"Hello all you Nightrage fans out there. This is Jimmie the new singer, I just want to tell you that I am so happy to join Nightrage and it"s a big honour to take over after Tomas. I promise you guys that I will do the songs justice and you will not be dissapointed. Stay metal and have patience, cause soon we will come and rock your town."

Nightrage has never been a project, and we will soon be out there to show you what we are all about. With this new line up Nightrage will play live, A LOT. So stay tuned about upcoming tours.

Also we have printed our first T-shirts. You can find all info about them at www.nightrage.com/shirts.

Yours in metal

Nightrage Release New Album, MP3 Available

The Swedish melodic death metal masters Nightrage have returned with a new and dynamic yet devastating offering, "Descent Into Chaos," that is sure to help propel them into the genre’s elite status. With a more dedicated lineup intact, the group worked closer together to create a more focused and intense album sure to please the old-school death metal fans while also catching the attention of an entire new audience.

The main songwriters, Marios Iliopoulos (guitars) and ex-At The Gates vocalist Tomas Lindberg (Lock Up, The Great Deceiver, Disfear, ex-The Crown), prove that there is no limitation to their abilities and clearly have raised the bar for their peers a bit higher with this release.

Iliopoulos checks in with his thoughts on the new album and how the band has progressed:

I feel that with the new album we managed to capture all the right elements that categorize the Nightrage sound, the really intense rhythm guitars mixed with the smooth 80's lead guitar work and the super tight drums along with the sheer intensity from Tomas Lindberg vocals. He did an awesome job on the vocals, which in contrast with the music make the album sound even heavier.

The new album has a rawer sound, a more in your face kind of production and there are less clean vocals. We tried to be more aggressive and at the same time not loose the melodic approach of the band. Patrik J. Sten handled the whole production and mixing of the album and as a result the material is more brutal and in your face. I think that on this album we are more focused and we tried to write simpler songs in order to have heavier and stronger results.

"Descent Into Chaos" is now available. Click here to download the track "Begin Nothing."

"Dead Eyes See No Future" is the title track of the band's recently released EP containing a mixture of live tracks and cover versions. Arch Enemy will be filming their show on December 17 for a DVD that the band are planning to release in 2005. The Metal Hammer-sponsored concert, dubbed "Swedish Apocalypse", will take place at the Forum in London, U.K. Support will come from fellow Swedes The Haunted, Dark Tranquillity and Nightrage. Commented guitarist Michael Amott: "This is shaping up to be one hell of a night! This is THE dream line up of bands for any fan of the 'Swedish sound!' We can't promise that the city of London will still be there after this Swedish Apocalypse! If the show doesn't do the job, the party afterwards will! What a great way to end the year!"

New Dissection Lineup Announced

Reactivated Swedish death metallers Dissection have revealed their new lineup on the eve of their headlining performance in Stockholm on Saturday (Oct. 30). Joining mainman Jon Nödtveidt (vocals and guitar) in the new formation are Set Teitan (guitar, Aborym, Bloodline), Brice Leclercq (bass guitar, Nightrage) and Thomas Asklund (drums, Infernal, Dawn, Dark Funeral). View photos of the new lineup here.

As previously reported, an audio sample of the new Dissection single, "Maha Kali," has been posted online at this location.

"Maha Kali" (view cover), described by the reactivated Swedish death metallers as "a hymn to the wrathful black hindu goddess of Mahapralaya, the great dissolution of cosmos, Jai Maha Kali," will initially only be available directly from Dissection via their official web site and on tour.

Dissection recently spent time in the studio working on their first studio recording since 1995's classic album "Storm Of The Light's Bane."

Dissection guitarist/vocalist Jon Nödtvedt was released from prison several months ago after spending seven years behind the bars for murdering an Algerian homosexual. A short-lived collaboration with former Emperor drummer Bård "Faust" Eithun ended in December over "the demands of Dissection's Satanic concept." A documentary DVD and a new studio album are expected sometime in 2005.
