The Eternal Put Finishing Touches On New Album

Australian atmospheric/gothic/doom metal band THE ETERNAL has issued the following update:

"After completing all the tracking in February, we have been editing and preparing files for the final mix [of the new THE ETERNAL album, 'Kartika']. A small change of plan occurred and it was decided that Mark [Kelson; guitar/vocals] would head over Helsinki, Finland and ferry his away across to Tallen, Estonia to mix the album with Endel Rivers. Endel recently relocated back to his home land of Estonia and after what we felt was a solid album, 'Sleep of Reason', we thought it would be best for Endel to mix the new album. So after a hectic and confusing few months we are back on the track to completion. Mark will be returning to Australia with a mixed album May 19th and we look forward to finally moving onto the next stage of the project. We have decided to do a show in Sydney in May to get ourselves back in the flow before we start any 'Kartika'-related touring. We have also added some new studio photos from the vocal sessions at Palm Studios." More...

The Eternal Issue Album Update

Melbourne, Australia-based metallers THE ETERNAL have issued the following up[date:

"We have had a busy month and a half since our last update! Terry (Vainoras - guitar) and Mark (Kelson - guitar/vocals) spent the end of December and the first weeks of the new year tracking the mammoth amount of guitars that we have written for Kartika. So with a bunch of long days and sleepless nights we managed to get through everything with the ever so hard working engineer Ian Miller. Ian is from Adelaide and came down to Melbourne for a few weeks to help make this all become reality for us. Working with Ian on this album has been like having an extra member on board, he has been working amazing hours on this project and we think it would be hard to of made it to this point without him.

After the completion of electric guitars and on Ian's return to Adelaide, Mark slipped into Palm Studios, Melbourne for 16 days to Track bass/acoustic guitars and vocals with Endel Rivers who most of you know from our last album Sleep Of Reason. Endel has been working overseas for the last year and we were lucky enough to catch him on a brief return to Australia and even luckier to get some studio time with him! It was worth the efforts in the end and we are very happy with the results. Mark's vocal work is set to outshine his efforts on 'Sleep Of Reason'. Tracking all the main & backing vocals, Mark had his work cut out for him as there are much more backing vocals and harmonies this time around.

So what is next? All files from the Palm Studio sessions have gone to Ian Miller in Adelaide, so he can begin the huge task of editing and mixing Kartika. We also have a few additional guests jumping on board with Duncan Patterson (ION) adding mandolin to the track 'Kartika' and Russian singer Emily A. Saaen (Ion) adding some additional backing vocals.

Within the next few weeks we will begin the mixing process and aim to have it all in the bag by the end of March, we will keep you posted!"

Firebox Records Doomy Tidbits

The release of PANTHEIST's second album, recorded in November 2004, has been pushed to March 2005 due to some problems with the CD cover artwork.

The second album of Sweden's GRAVE FLOWERS has been recorded. It is being mastered at Phantom Studios in Finland, while the cover artwork is being completed by artist Tuomo Lehtonen. Expect nearly 70 minutes of melancholic gothic/doom metal, including a stylish cover version of Count Raven's song 'Leaving The Warzone'. Release is in March/April 2005.

The Australian band THE ETERNAL has updated both their lineup and the tidings regarding their new album: the band's new drummer goes by the name of Marty O'Shea, while the forthcoming CD is entitled 'Everlasting'. It shall feature 11 songs, which the band will record in February at Palm Studio. Some titles include: 'Everlasting, 'To Drown', 'Hollow Inside', 'A Dreams End', 'In My Skin', 'Beneath The Soil', 'The Sleep Of Reason', 'The Dying Light and Weight Of Empathy'.

MAR DE GRISES from Chile will tour Europe for three weeks in April 2005. The tour encompasses nine countries, including such exotic and often-ignored locales as Serbia. The band will also appear at Germany's legendary Doom Shall Rise festival.
