Tuska Open Air Metal Festival promised to be an event to remember this year, with huge acts such as King Diamond, Wintersun and Nightwish taking command of the main stage! With finally perfect summer weather and a lineup that challenged many other summer festivals, Friday came with much awaited anticipation!
Many of the bands this year were scheduled at the same time, perhaps the cause of this was that in the past there have always been four stages, but this year there were only three. Only two of these stages allowed media to shoot footage and photos, which led to a massive and unfortunate stress factor to an otherwise phenomenal festival experience. In addition, overcrowded photo pits with unqualified photographers led to an unfortunate decline in coverage from other medias this year. Die hard Tuska fans and Medias still showed up in hordes, and showed why Tuska is still the metal festival to be at in Helsinki! More...

"This will also be the first appearance of our new singer, Pessi Haltsonen. Check his other band Retaliatory Measures to check his vocal range, he's a perfect fit - a human powerhouse and his vocals are crushing.
"The EP will also include a cover version of an old Demigod song from Unholy Domain demo, an artwork done by Mark Riddick and will carry the name 'I chose death.' No release date yet. More info as things move along."
Finnish death metal act Torture Killer has issued the following announcement about parting ways with the band's vocalist:
"Our cooperation with our vocalist Juri has ended. We thank him for the past years, all the shows we've played together and wish him all the best in his future endeavors. Like any band member would know, there's more to being in a band than just performing on stage. With these other things, we have had constant difficulties meeting each other eye-to-eye and these issues we have not been able to be resolved.
"This has once again put us in a situation where we need to evaluate our line-up and where we stand with the band. This decision is very unpleasant, but regardless of that, necessary and the right one. Because of this we are now looking for a new death metal vocalist. We hope you live in Western- or Southern part of Finland, and/or you are capable of coming to Turku whenever needed. Contact us via: serialtorturekiller(at)gmail.com
"We've been under these circumstances before and even if these situations have always been annoying & unpleasant, we've always managed to come back stronger and stand straight again. And so it shall be, again!"

Finland's TORTURE KILLER will enter the studios in November to start recording a follow-up to their 2006 album "Swarm!"
"After the basic tracking done in Finland we will move to Hit Factory [in] Miami, where Chris [Barnes, SIX FEET UNDER/TORTURE KILLER vocalist] will start laying down the vocal tracks and hopefully the CD will be finished by the end of the year for an early 2008 release," the band writes in a press release.
"Things are moving along nicely and we are confident that we will have decent death metal album on our hands. The new songs are sounding great; all the 'Swarm!' elements are there and we think we've taken another step ahead with our approach on death metal, some really haunting guitar licks combined with a groove and more attacking style, hopefully we can catch all this energy the right way and I'm sure people are definitely going to enjoy this one." Finnish death metallers TORTURE KILLER have announced the addition of SIX FEET UNDER/ex-CANNIBAL CORPSE vocalist Chris Barnes to the group's ranks. In a statement posted on their MySpace.com page, the band write, "Well, we never would've expected where we would stand with this band in 2005 when we first started playing together under the name of TORTURE KILLER. A lot of the interviews we did to promote the debut album, 'For Maggots to Devour', asked if we knew what the SIX FEET UNDER guys, and especially Chris Barnes, thought about us. After all, the link between us and his work with SIX FEET UNDER is more than obvious. Truthfully, we kinda wondered that ourselves as well. Well, now we know.
"Chris contacted us last October (2004) with a very supportive and friendly note. The name TORTURE KILLER caught his attention and was intrigued enough to check us out — finding us in the difficult situation we were at with the lineup. Now, we are proud to announce him as the new TORTURE KILLER vocalist and that he will be handling the vocals on 'Swarm!' — the renamed second album."
Chris Barnes had the following to say about his addition to the TORTURE KILLER ranks:
"I'm very happy to announce that I have joined the band TORTURE KILLER full-time. These guys are some of the best musicians I have ever been involved with, and I am 100 percent intent on using all my resources and eneregy to help propel this band to the top of the death metal food chain. I am extremely pleased with the songs we've put together for the CD 'Swarm!', and I can't wait to get out on tour with the band and kill every one of you sick fuckers!!! See you soon."
TORTURE KILLER have also announced that they have signed a deal with Metal Blade Records.
The basic tracks for "Swarm!" were recorded back in January 2005. Chris did his vocals at The Hit Factory in Florida in May/June with Chris Carroll and the CD was mixed and mastered by Chris and Erik Rutan in October. Artwork was handled by Wes Benscoter (MORTICIAN, SINISTER, VEHEMENCE).
