Carpathian Forest has been forced to cancel the band's appearance at the 2013 Maryland Death Fest due to problems obtaining a visa. The band's publicist comments:
"Carpathian Forest front man Nattefrost is one more in the long line of Scandinavian black metal musicians who have been unable to gain entry into the United States due to the labyrinthine and draconian immigration laws that have so often denied U.S. fans the opportunity to see their favorite European bands.
"Despite this setback, Carpathian Forest, whose remaining four members had been granted visas, was still aiming to appear at the Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore on the 26th May as scheduled, but as a four-piece, with guitarist BloodPervertor taking on vocals. Unfortunately, for reasons unknown, the embassy was not able to return drummer Kobro’s passport in time for the band to leave, and Carpathian Forest has therefore been forced to pull out of the festival completely. However, three members – guitarists Tchort and BloodPervertor and bassist Vrangsinn will attend and will be available to talk to fans.
"It is only under very exceptional circumstances that Carpathian Forest plays without Nattefrost, the only other occasion having been when BloodPervertor stepped in to cover vocals on a handful of dates during the No Mercy Tour in 2004 when Nattefrost broke his collar bone." More...

With Sonar closing, the location of 2013's Maryland DeathFest XI was up in the air. The organizers have finally announced that the fest will be held in the same location as last year, and will be expanded. Maryland DeathFest XI will take place in Baltimore, Maryland on Memorial Day weekend, May 23-26, 2013. Tickets go on sale on October 15th at 12 pm (EST). You can read the entire update below:
We're a day early with this announcement, but we can finally let you know where MDF XI will be taking place.
In a nutshell, we will be returning to the property formerly known as Sonar, and will be at least doubling the amount of outside space that we've been used to utilizing. We realize that it's a bit of a mind fuck to wait around for a few months just to hear that the fest is returning to the same place, but truth be told, the other places we looked at were either not able to give us a definite answer anytime soon, and/or had too many inconveniences that we did not want to put the fans through. During the venue search, it was brought to our attention that the new owners of the property were willing to collaborate with us, so we decided to go through with returning to a familiar place that is close to the hotels and conveniences of downtown Baltimore.
The additional space outside will allow us to comfortably accommodate the crowd, and will allow more room for the MDF vendor village, food vendors/food trucks, places to sit, and other new additions like misting tents to escape the possibility of it being hotter than it should be that weekend. There will be two outside stages plus the stage inside. Due to the new configuration outside, the placement of the outside stages will likely be different.
As for the building itself, there are some renovations currently taking place, but the rooms will be used exactly how they have been in the past, and it will be air conditioned throughout.
We would also like to announce the addition of a second inside stage at Baltimore Soundstage, which is a 1/2 mile walk away from the former Sonar (at 124 Market Place), and will be used from Friday-Sunday. This will be a smaller show without a barricade that will feature mostly hardcore and punk bands, and it will be scheduled in a way that should not conflict with anything going on at the former Sonar compound. All of the bands for this stage will be included in next week's announcement on October 9th.

"Phobia," the new multi-media project from Carpathian Forest bass player Vrangsinn, was released today on Misantrof ANTIRecords, and is available both via free download, and as a DVD with free audio CD, for purchase. The DVD is produced in batches of 100 copies, with each individual batch of 100 varying slightly from the others in terms of artwork. The entire project comprises a DVD, CD, Mp3 audio, and Mp4. In the case of the free download, Misantrof also offers fans the option of a free CD/DVD burning application, so that anyone downloading the album can burn their own DVD should they wish to. More information can be found at this location.
"Phobia" was debuted at the "Do What Thou Wilt Shall Be The Key To The World" exhibition at the Kurant Art Gallery All in Tromso at the end of last year. The music, instruments, vocals, lyrics, video, and animation were written, performed, produced, and engineered by Daniel Vrangsinn, with friends and fellow musicians lending a hand here and there. The whole project was thirteen months in the making, with the booklet animation taking up almost two thirds of that time. 40's style animation techniques were used, and Vrangsinn animated all the lyrics, word for word, using ink and paper and a photo camera. The DVD also contains multiple audio tracks including one with the music without vocals, which, according to Vrangsinn, gives you an instant karaoke machine that was included as a joke, since he believes his voice is somewhat unusual and takes some getting used to and that if people “don’t fucking like it, they have the option to turn it off."
Throne of Malediction has posted footage online of their performance of the cover song "Bloodlust & Perversion" by Carpathian Forest. The video clip, which can be viewed below, was recorded at the Dragon's Den in Kalispell, Montana on January 1st, 2010.

The band recently inked a deal with Pulverised Records for the release of the second full-length album, due out in 2010, and new material is currently being prepared.
"Also due for release shortly on Aesthetic Death Records, are two versions of Den Saakaldte’s ‘Øl, Mørke og Depresjon’, which was originally released in early 2008 on Eerie Art Records. Both versions will include bonus tracks not previously available, with artwork designed by Den Saakaldte’s Sykelig. Daniel Vrangsinn, bass player with Norwegian black metal band Carpathian Forest and founder of the Misantrof AntiLabel, will debut his new album “Phobia” at the "Do What Thou Wilt Shall Be The Key To The World" art exhibition. The exhibition will open at the Kurant Art Gallery in Tromsø, Norway, on Friday 13 November.
The exhibition features eight national and international artists from satanic/occult/black metal backgrounds, whose art deals with the darker aspects of life. Carpathian Forest has issued the following announcement about bassist Vrangsinn producing the upcoming Toxic Death album:
"Probably the member of CARPATHIAN FOREST who is the most active on the music scene is bass player Vrangsinn. Aside from his work with CF and NATTEFROST, he has a shed load of other projects, which we'll tell you about as things happen. He also heads up the Misantrof AntiRecords label, and is a producer for bands such as NATTEFROST, DEATHCULT etc.

Carpathian Forest has issued the following announcement about people pretending to be front man Nattefrost on the internet:
"When he's one of the dozens of fakes on MySpace and elsewhere pretending to be NATTEFROST! We've even had someone getting bands to send music.
"So please be careful when someone says they are NATTEFROST because 99.9999% of the time you can be sure it's NOT. He is rarely on the internet and never uses MSN or any other form of Instant Messaging.
"So just to be certain, the pages below are the ONLY pages anywhere that are run by NATTEFROST and his management, and no other pages claiming to be NATTEFROST or CARPATHIAN FOREST (yep, there are lots of those too) have any contact with him whatsoever:
Carpathian Forest has issued the following update about making a Facebook page to give more updates to fans:
