German thrash metallers Dew-Scented have revealed the artwork for their new album "Icarus," to be released in July through Metal Blade Records in Europe. Once again Björn Goosses / Killustrations handled the artwork duties.
Singer Leif Jensen comments on the album title: "The album's main theme could be described a modern-times, very apocalyptic adaptation of elements of the 'Icarus' myth, using a lot of its symbolism while interlinking with several other personal or observant subjects, in true Dew-Scented fashion. Without being close to a 'concept album', 'Icarus' has a pretty coherent lyrical flow and that helps to enhance and also to intentionally enlarge the atmosphere and vibe created by the music."
Check out the first sneak peak video teaser from the studio at this location. "Icarus" was recorded at Soundlodge Studio with Jörg Uken (God Dethroned, Suicidal Angels, Nightfall, etc.) as producer and will be released by late July 2012 via Metal Blade Records in Europe and Prosthetic Records in North America. "Here is a first sneak peak video teaser from the studio. German thrash metallers Dew-Scented have just finished recording their new album. They once again recorded at Soundlodge Studio in the deepest heart of Northern Germany with Jörg Uken (God Dethroned, Suicidal Angels, Nightfall, etc.) as producer.
"We have worked with Jörg already on 'Incinerate' for the recordings and then on the previous album 'Invocation' for recordings and mix. It was an absolute pleasure to be able to team up with him again and the time we worked on the new music together in his halls pretty much went flying by! The best part however is: The final mix turned out really, really HEAVY, so much we can tell you already!" comments singer Leif Jensen.
A few song titles off the new album are "Sworn To Obey," "Reawakening," "Storm Within," and "Gleaming Like Silver."
The new album will be released by late July 2012 via Metal Blade Records in Europe and Prosthetic Records in North America. The artwork was once again created by Björn Goosses / Killustrations, with whom Dew-Scented already collaborated since 2003's "Impact."
Leif Jensen adds: "The new album's artwork looks totally stunning and we can't wait to share it with all of you soon! We are right now finishing off the work on the layouts and just did a promo photo session this past weekend, so all things are rolling forwards!" More...

With our return to the European festivals this Summer and the addition of new band members to the groups line up, SFU is poised to murder and KILL!! With the release of the new SFU album 'UNDEAD' this spring we will prove that the UNDEAD shall rise from the crypts of GERMANY and EUROPE IN 2012!"
Support comes from SFU label mates Dew-Scented, who will release a new, yet untitled album in the summer of 2012. More details on "Undead" will be revealed in the following weeks. Stay tuned! The band's upcoming tour dates are as follows: More...
Dew Scented has issued the following update about writing material for an upcoming album:
"Greetings Thrashers! As you will have already noticed by now, things are rather quiet for Dew-Scented in the public eye. However, things are actually turbulent and challenging behind closed doors, so we wanted to give you a brief update with what's going on…
"New studio album: Earlier this year we had decided to stop playing shows (apart from a handful of pre-scheduled summer festivals) until at least spring 2012 in order to re-group and to prepare a next studio album recording session. In fact, that's what is mainly keeping us busy right now. We are making good progress and are already up to song idea number 8. Some truly killer stuff coming up and quite some surprises along the way too. If all stays according to our masterplan, we would have a new release available by mid of next year! More...
After almost 10 years of loyal service to Dew-Scented, bassist Alexander Pahl has decided to leave the band. The band commented on his departure:
"Rumours about his reasoning are on an absolute high, so we are happy to offer you a chance to win free D-S merchandise if you nail the correct answer from the following bunch:
a) He ran out of coffee
b) He will dedicate to family life and low profile grind projects
c) He chose to wait for a chance to join Kreator, Sodom, Destruction or other even more successful acts
d) He lost his trademark Poison Idea stage-shirt and can no longer perform live without it
e) Personal differences between the bandmembers
f) He might start a new band with ex D-S members Flo, Hendrik and Uwe soon.
"The first three correct submissions will receive a free band shirt as well as a special poster signed by Alex with a personal dedication! Write us to: contact [at] dew-scented [dot] com. Dew-Scented would like to thank Alex for the good times and wish him all the best for his future projects and activities!"
After last month's Party.San and Brutal Assault festivals, Dew-Scented will now retire from the public eye until early next year in order to focus on composing a next studio album, tentatively to be released before the summer 2012. Next year also marks the 20th anniversary for Dew-Scented.
Dew Scented has checked in with the following announcement about the band's upcoming festival appearances:
"Hey Thrashers! The summer season and all its festival madness is getting started over here now, so we thought it would be good timing to check in with some short news…
"Things are still rather quiet on the Dew-Scented front and that has to do with us working on new song material in the background. The first ideas for the next album are being written as I type this, so hopefully it will be a good flow and entertaining creative process in the coming months?!
"Nevertheless, we have recently confirmed two more Summer festival shows, making it a total of 4 live shows coming up for 2011. Make sure to catch/meet us at Ragnarock Open Air / Germany on Friday, July 15th and at Dong Open Air / Germany on Saturday, July 16th. One month later, we will be appearing at Party.San Open Air / Germany on Thursday, August 11th and at Brutal Assault Festival / Czech Republic on either Friday, August 12th or Saturday, August 13th.
"Other than that, we can proudly announce that Dew-Scented vocalist Leif appears as special guest doing some vocals for the track 'The Legacy Of Hate' on the self-titled second album release by our friends Switchtense from Portugal. Check out this killer band here (album trailer).
"Additionally, we would like to inform you that the new issue of Germany's leading alternative rock magazine Visions doesn't only come with a 'Big 4' cover-story, but it also includes a promotional compilation CD dubbed 'Metal Massacre 2011,' featuring the new breed of current Thrash Metal bands like Legion Of The Damned, Warbringer, Municipal Waste, Evile or also Suicidal Angels. Dew-Scented are featured on there as well with the Slayer cover-version of 'War Ensemble.' We originally recorded this about 10 years ago as Japanese bonus track for the 'Inwards' album release and are obviously happy to have been selected for such cool tribute release and for a new audience! Go grab your copy of the magazine in stores NOW! OK guys, guess that's all for now…but see you on some sunny field of/for Metal sometime soon!"

"Hey Thrashers! Dew-Scented has returned home from a loooooong but also very successful European tour supporting Nile! 19 countries, thousands of KM’s to travel, many new experiences made along the way and almost a 'hometown' show as last date in Hannover / Germany made an ending with style! We would like to thank our bus comrades of Zonaria and Darkrise for the good time as well as Melechesh and the almighty Nile for the intense weeks we managed to spend together on the road!
"Also, big thanks to the amazing Massive crew, our tour-soundtech Murph as well as the busdrivers (Rudi & Maren) and merchandisers (Darek & Rob) for the good atmosphere during these last weeks! Special thanks to all old friends we met and to all new friends we made on this tour as well as to all the people that came out to enjoy & support all the five bands at the shows! Very special thanks to Michi of Holy Moses for the help as second guitarist for this tour – You rule!
"Make sure to read the daily tour diary we kept via our Facebook page and check out some cool shots of the crowd/s there too… We had looked forward to play Rocktower festival in Lübeck / Germany on the Easter weekend as next show with Dew-Scented but unfortunately the festival got completely canceled all-together so that’s no longer gonna happen! "While we spent a good amount of time on the European roads in 2010 promoting the release of the newest Dew-Scented album 'Invocation,' we figured it would be a good idea to collect live footage and have some of it presented to our global supporters. We chose the album's opening 'Arise From Decay' for the clip as this track has become an important and very energetic piece of our current live-set.
"The video was shot by our friend and fellow road-warrior Oliver 'Bomber' Barth / Visions In Fear at various live-locations in the second half of 2010. But see for yourselves. See you soon on the road!"

Dew Scented recently announced the departure of guitarist Martin Walczak. The band has now issued the following update about recruiting a touring guitarist:
"Hey everybody! Happy and heavy new year 2011 to all of you! After having announced Martin's departure from DEW-SCENTED, we are happy to let you know that Michael Hankel (ex Erosion, Holy Moses) will be playing rhythm guitars for us on the European tour with Nile starting later this month!
"We have known Michi for several years now and are certain he will compliment the band in a great way for the coming shows! Michi checked in with the following message: 'Hey Metalheads! This is Michael, guitarist of Holy Moses. I am proud to let you know that I am joining DEW-SCENTED for their upcoming European Tour. I have liked these guys and their material since many years and in my opinion DEW-SCENTED are a real challenge for all Thrash Metallers. Their songs are sounding heavy now and will kick you right in the face... I am truly looking forward to meeting you all on this amazing tour!'
"On a different note, we wanted to take a moment of your time to bring attention to some killer albums released by other bands in the just finished year 2010. Here is a Top 5? list (in no specific order) by some of the DEW-SCENTED members: More...
Dew Scented has issued the following announcement about parting ways with guitarist Martin Walczak:
"Hey Thrashers! Hope you have had some sweet and relaxing holidays…we surely did! Our last show for 2010 at Leer’s Winter Metal Meeting some days ago went down smoothly, so thanks to everyone who came out to see us on that incredibly cold evening! Sadly, that show also marked the last gig for our rhythm guitarist Martin Walczak with Dew-Scented.
"Some while ago, Martin decided to leave the band due to changes in his personal life and lack of availability to move forwards with music at this stage. It’s a shame to see him go but we certainly wish Martin all the very best with his next goals and tasks in life! Thanks for the good times, Mattin!
"We already have a friend of the band lined up as session guitarist for the European tour with Nile starting out late January, so no reason to be worried at all…and we will give you more details about this in the coming days! But speaking of the next tour, here are again all the dates for you to pin them down on your calendars." More...

The good news of the week is that Dew Scented have just been confirmed to to play at 2010's Wacken Open Air festival! It has been a longer while (since 2003, actually) that we didn't perform at Wacken and with this year's stellar line-up as well as our new album 'Invocation"' at hand, we seriously look forward to seeing/meeting a lot of you there!
"We will be appearing as first band on the Black Stage on Friday, August 6th (Stage time: 11 AM), where Orphaned Land, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, Endstille, Arch Enemy and Slayer are scheduled to perform after us!"

German thrash metallers DEW SCENTED have posted the first new song, "Arise From Decay," of their upcoming new album "Invocation," to be released May, 21st/24th 2010 in Europe via Metal Blade Records, on MySpace.
Vocalist Leif Jensen comments, "We are happy to finally be able to debut a new song for all of you to hear! 'Arise From Decay' is the new album's opening track (after the instrumental intro piece 'Downfall') and a really good representation of not only what the album is all about, but also of what DEW-SCENTED sound like in 2010. 'Arise From Decay' combines many of the band's 'trademark' elements into a straight forward and pretty vicious song. This song was actually one of the first fully finalized tracks when we started writing the 'Invocation' album with the band's new line-up and we have already been playing it live for a while now with great response. Enjoy!"
