Century Media Celebrates 20th Anniversary
2008 has become an extremely exciting year in the history of Century Media Records, one of the world's most respected independent homes for heavy music, as the label is celebrating its 20th anniversary!
The company's Anniversary year started off with an extremely successful, first-ever yard sale/party at the Century Media office in Dortmund (Germany) in June, where several hundred guests partied out on exclusive live shows by Angel Dust and Turisas. A video with impressions from the event can be seen at this location. A photo gallery for this event can be viewed here.
To further celebrate this anniversary Century Media Records will release the very special 2CD compilation "Covering 20 Years Of Extremes" on September 15th in Europe and on October 14th in North America. The various artists covers-release includes 32 mostly exclusive recordings and will be available in stores for the price of one CD. Sticking to the "keep it in the family" slogan, CM approached their artists about covering songs from other acts within the label's repertoire and the response from the musicians was overwhelming.
Some choices were obvious and homages to the bands that influenced them, others were inspired picks. This combination ended up leading to a heavily entertaining and truly special final result across all sub-genres of heavy music.

Tiamat Begin Recording New Album
TIAMAT mainman Johan Edlund ha issued the following update:
"Last night I got back home [to Greece] from a week of [TIAMAT] rehearsals and some days of drum recordings [for the new album] in Sweden. The trip turned into a quite personal trauma and a few tears left my eyes while careening through red mist and dust of the Greek forest fires when entering Greek airspace on my late night flight from Prague back to Macedonia, but luckily — after a few days of worrying — my close and loved ones in the south of Greece are OK and most fires are heavily bondaged by heroic firefighters of all Europe. Bless them!
"Rehearsals went fine, thanks to small little brown bottles wrapped in paper with joyfully slogans printed on them. We had a few drunken nights in Stockholm and I managed to see my team Hammarby lose against a non-team from the west coast.
"A few days later me and Lars [Skold, drums] went to the west coast. To a small little town called Varberg, to be precise, just outside the anus of Sweden that some people still call Gothenburg (the city most known for an ugly building that looks like a lipstick, which they call… the lipstick).
"Though beer drinking was still on the agenda, we didn't go down there for watching football, nor fishing, but to record our animalistic maniac behind the drums in Studio Mega."
Tiamat Sign to Nuclear Blast
Tiamat have signed to Nuclear Blast records and have announced their new will be out in February 2008. You can check them out at their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/tiamat.
As previously reported Tiamat frontman Johan Edlund has posted the following message on the band's official MySpace page:
"Lots of people are asking us what we're up to and when they can expect a new TIAMAT album or at least a LUCYFIRE [Johan's other project] album... The answer to you all is: soon!
"Honestly, we're working on new Tiamat songs at the moment and the plan is to have a three or four song demo ready within the next couple of weeks. With this demo we're gonna try to fool some cash off a record company and then we're pretty much set for recording a new album! I'd hate myself if we wouldn't at least start recording the damn thing this year! The release date we'll have to leave to the sharks! I've got some new LucyFire songs written aswell. Anybody wanna release the disaster, let me know (aka send me a check)!!!
"Yep, we are alive! If you still doubt us, get your ass over to Ukraine the 13th of August and we'll prove it!"

We are eagerly looking forward to hitting the road again, this time with Fredrik on board the good ship Arch Enemy."

Tiamat has posted this message on their website regarding Sweden's Metaltown Festival, rumours of the band breaking up and their upcoming DVD:
We're extremely happy to inform our Swedish fans that we have just been confirmed to perform at this years Metaltown festival in Gothenburg on the 30th of July!!! Other bands on that festival are Beseech, Nine, Apocalyptica, our bloodbrothers Dark Tranquillity, and the great Rammstein!
Recently we have received many emails asking about a rumour saying that Tiamat is about to split up. The answer to you bunch is: What planet are you from?
The DVD "Church of Tiamat" has been delayed and is now set for a release in the end of October. We're just finishing up packaging and deciding what to put in the bonus section. Siggi Bemm did a great job mixing the audio, both in stereo and 5.1!!!
And a final word, London we're with you!!! God bless you!

The band (we, us) is/are very pleased by that! Still it's not too late to mail us your perverted dreams of bonus material!
