CULT OF LUNA founder and guitarist Johannes Persson gives fans a major treat as he gives them a taste of what is in store for them on the band's fifth full-length release, "Eternal Kingdom".
"The world of the 'Eternal Kingdom' is harsh and hostile and that was something we felt was needed to express through the music. The turn to a harder and heavier sound was also very welcomed on our side after two albums of exploring atmospheric and meditative music."
The recently released artwork of "Eternal Kingdom" also has a deep connection to the music contained within.
"The artwork is inspired by old woodcuts and it is definitely the right way of maintain and amplify the harshness of the 'Eternal Kingdom'. With the Man/Owl king in the middle, it is a perfect visual representation of how the album is going to sound."

Guitarist/vocalist Johannes Persson comments cryptically: "As we close the doors of the Tonteknik studio and travel into unchartered musical ground, only one thing is sure; what will come out will have been born from pain and violence."

Swiss rockers KRUGER were recently confirmed for the 13th Roadburn festival in Tilburg, Netherlands. They’ll be sharing the bill with CELTIC FROST as main headliner on Saturday, April 19th, 2008.
Kruger vocalist Reno comments: “We're actually totally, absolutely, excited to play one on Europe's fiercest festivals! I heard so many enthusiastic comments about the atmosphere and spirit of Roadburn that we look forward to hitting the road to Tilburg! Besides, the rest of the bill on our show date could be worse - have look : Swiss godfathers Celtic Frost, ISIS, CULT OF LUNA, CEPHALIC CARNAGE and ELECTRIC WIZARD."
Post-metal icons ISIS have been confirmed as the headliner of the Friday Roadburn Festival date — April 18, 2008 — at the 013 Club in Tilburg, The Netherlands.
Currently celebrating their 10th anniversary as a band, the Boston-to-Los Angeles transplants will help fans take part in their milestone anniversary by releasing their entire catalog in one deluxe 12 vinyl-LP box set, and their headlining slot at Roadburn 2008.
Throughout the years, ISIS have maintained their position in the vanguard of post-metal by consistently exploding the idiomatic strictures that have defined heavy music with each successive release. Roadburn reveres ISIS and feel they warrant discussion alongside such established pioneers as NEUROSIS and CELTIC FROST.
Roadburn Festival organizers have also announced that Swiss post-metal stalwarts KRUGER will play the Saturday Roadburn date — April 19, 2008.
The 13th annual Roadburn Festival will take place April 18-19, 2008. Also scheduled to appear on the Friday Roadburn date are WITCHCRAFT, TONY MCPHEE'S GROUNDHOGS, BABY WOODROSE, DANAVA, MOS GENERATOR, BLOOD OF THE SUN, GENTLEMAN'S PISTOLS, LA IRA DE DIOS, ZONE SIX and CHURCH OF MISERY, among others.
Seminal avant-garde/metal pioneers CELTIC FROST are confirmed as the main headliners, playing Saturday, April 19, 2008. YEAR OF NO LIGHT, ELECTRIC WIZARD, CULT OF LUNA, ACID MOTHERS GURU, THE HEADS, KONGH, LESBIAN, MY SLEEPING KARMA, ELECTRIC ORANGE and NADJA, amongst others, will also play the Saturday Roadburn date.
There will also be two additional dates added to Roadburn 2008: Thursday, April 17 [Roadburn's Pre-heat], and Sunday, April 20 [Roadburn's Afterburner — Kentucky's THE GLASSPACK will play an exclusive show, making their European debut]. The Roadburn Festival is currently talking to David Tibet/CURRENT 93 about a very special curated evening at the festival's main-hall on the Sunday, April, 2008. More info will follow shortly.
Originally a spin-off of the Roadburn web site, the Roadburn Festival has emerged as an event in its own right — it was even nominated for the prestigious "Festival Of The Year" award in the Netherlands this year. Roadburn brings together bands, fans and media from around the world. Despite its international acclaim, Roadburn retains an underground vibe and ethics, but with seriously big-league production values.
Cult of Luna recently announced cancellation of some dates in Europe. The band's sentiment states,
"Unfortunately won't be able to play the shows in the Netherlands and Belgium 25th and 26th of August. Things have happened that's not in our control. We feel sorry for the people that were looking forward seeing us live, but yea, shit happens and we will be back later for sure."
Swedish epic art-rock crushers Cult of Luna will descend upon Download on Sunday (10th June) evening to play their debut set at the famous festival. Download is the first UK festival Cult of Luna have played, and they are looking forward to engaging the crowd on the Tuborg stage with their special brand of light and shade sonic Musings. Guitarist Johannes Persson enthuses:
"The last UK tour was a blast and the reception we got was amazing so getting back to do our first UK festival was not a hard decision...."
Since the release of Cult of Luna's last album ‘Somewhere Along the Highway’ the band have been touring Europe incessantly to rave reviews and crowd reactions.
Expect the set to include the likes of ‘Leave Me Here’ and ‘Dark City, Dead Man (among others) as the sun sets on Donington on Sunday night.
The band will not be accompanied by Erik Olofsson at Download, but as Johannes states, with "6-8 members - you never know who shows up!"..." we have enough guitarists as it is...haha."
Cult of Luna will play the Turborg stage Sunday 10th June at Download festival, scheduled slot 18.55-19.35

Swedish art-noise collective Cult of Luna have filmed a video for the "Back to Chapel Town", a track that features on their latest album out on Earache records "Somewhere Along the Highway." Filmed in Umea near where the band are from, the video took 5 days to make but much longer to plan. Johannes Persson and Erik Olofsson came up with the concept and directed the video themselves.
"Its about a dude" says Johannes trying to explain "a man waking up in a world he doesn't know, he knows nothing of his past or where he is, people treat him like air or are very suspicious of him." When asked how he felt about filming his own video Johannes says "It took fucking ages to arrange, we shot for 5 days and I've never felt so out of my element, but it was fun, and definitely something I would like to do more in the future."
The video mimicks the dark graphic feel of the album, and was even shot in the same kind of colour as the artwork on "Somewhere along the highway." The video is due to be finished by the end of September.
