Below is our complete Keychain news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Keychain is pushing the boundaries of its genres to bring metal, alternative rock, and hip hop back together again.
The band will be hitting the the road from the end of August to mid-October for a first North American tour promoting debut EP "Breaking Out," which is being released on August 5th.
The EP was produced by award winning producer/engineer/mixer Glen Robinson who has worked with names such as The Ramones, AC/DC, GWAR, Annihilator and Voivod plus mastered by none other than Howie Weinberg (Pantera, Limp Bizkit, The Deftones, etc).
Ready for a new Pit Story heavy metal fans? This week we've got JP LaChapelle from Keychain to share a few he's accumulated over the years.
This week's entry is actually an audio story told as you'd hear it outside a show bullshitting with the band.
Below you can hear JP share a bevy of road report tales (all somehow combined with a common theme of strip clubs) about the learning curve of not partying too hard while touring and dealing with tour van break downs.
Keychain mixes together metal, alt-rock, and hip hop for a rebrith of the nu metal genre. In the band's first year of existence alone, the Quebec-based group has booked over 50 shows, confirmed an upcoming cross country North-American summer/fall tour, and will be releasing 3 music videos and 3 live acoustic videos by 2016's end.
Upcoming debut EP "Breaking Out" is set for release on August 5th and was produced by award winning producer/engineer/mixer Glen Robinson, plus mastered by Howie Weinberg (Pantera, Limp Bizkit, The Deftones, etc). Check out the song "Prime Time" below. Vocalist JP Lachapelle comments:
"It's 'Prime Time!' Your life, your choice, your rules. Cameras rolling & speakers exploding; let's get this fucking party started. Choose your true religion & make your mark. Live free, love deep and die hard; that's the Keychain creed. From Montreal to across the continent, this is the rebirth of NuMetal." More...

We launch this week’s episode with the song “These Empty Skies” from Keychain, a melodic hard rock five-piece based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The band formed in Novi Sad, Serbia, in 2009 covering songs by Godsmack, Shinedown, and (hold your tongue) Nickelback. After a disbandment and reformation, Keychain is currently working on a full-length original studio album.
Then co-host Mike Smith (OverkillExposure) reports on his adventures this week on the road. He joined members of Lynchburg, Virginia metallers Mourn The Illusion on a whirlwind trek through North Carolina, starting with a headlining show by Italy’s Lacuna Coil at Greensboro’s Greene Street Club and a lively interview with the warm and lovely Cristina Scabbia (vocals). The following day came a jaunt over to Tremont Music Hall in Charlotte, an intimate, underground, sparsely promoted show, and a “special evening with” Soulfly and the entire Cavalera Tribe. Stay tuned for Mike’s rundown of events.
Finally - and you knew we couldn’t leave this one alone - Mike and co-host Kevin Perez (n0thinghead) serve up the in-depth review and analysis you’ve been anticipating (or dreading) for months: Slipknot’s upcoming fifth full-length “.5: The Gray Chapter.” While reactions on at least one of our parts are a tad early, and a patented opinion might require a few more listens, we nonetheless do our enthusiastic best to describe in thorough detail the essence of this fascinating and rather unpredictable work of metal (and yes, Slipknot IS metal).
Members of Serbian black/death metal band Bane have recently formed a new hard rock leaning project titled Keychain. The first single "These Empty Skies" is now available for free download via Nocturne Magazine right here, or you can listen to the song in the video clip available below. More...
