Decapitated Issues Recording Update

Polish technical death metal band Decapitated is currently working at Radio Gdansk Studio in Poland, recording the band's Nuclear Blast debut and follow-up to 2006’s "Organic Hallucinosis."

Guitarist & founding member Wacek "Vogg" Kieltyka checks in once again from the studio:

"Hi Everyone! We are half-way through with guitar tracking. All is going according to the plan and in a few days we are starting with the bass. The guitars sound heavy yet very selective. I must admit we have come up with a very original sound that in my opinion resembles 'black storm clouds.' Heinrich [bassist] is coming to the studio the day after tomorrow and we will crack on with the bass then. Malta is a very demanding engineer and he is controlling the whole situation meticulously. The new material is beginning to take its shape and it is getting more and more interesting. Take it easy folks!"

Decapitated’s fifth studio album is being produced by Wacek Kieltyka and sound engineered by Malta Arkadiusz Malczewski. Drums have been recorded with Daniel Bergstrand, who is also handling mixing duties.

The band's previous studio update is also available to be read at this location.

Decapitated Checks In From The Studio

Polish death metal band Decapitated is continuing work at Radio Gdansk Studio in Poland recording the band's Nuclear Blast debut and follow-up to 2006’s "Organic Hallucinosis." Guitarist & founding member Wacek Kieltyka checks in once again from the studio:

"The first week of recording is over. We've done the drums and prepared them to be mixed by Daniel [Bergstrand]. Since yesterday, we've been looking for the right guitar sound and we've already come up with a few ideas. We've got heaps of different speakers, heads, effects and we're trying to pick the gear with the sound most suitable to the new riffs. It's very probable that I'll use again a transistor head in conjunction with a tube head - the combination that had always worked out well for Decap. Also, I'm recording in a large room to take advantage of its ambiance and to let the sound flow freely.”

Drummer Kerim "Krimh" Lechner offers another update on drums:

“Hello guys! My work is done. I finished recording all drums in 3 days. I didn’t expect that it would be that fast, but I am happy about that. So now we have more time for guitars, bass, and vocals. These last days we’ve spent listening to all the drum tracks and choosing the best parts. Each song takes us about 3-4 hours and you have to spend a few days to listen through all the songs. Now we will send all the drum tracks to Daniel Bergstrand who will do a first mix of the drums so we can start recording guitars. The drum kit with all the microphones on it looked great but now we had to move it for the guitar amps. Yesterday we tried out the first 4 heads and some of them sounded really good. We will see in the next days which ones we will choose!”

Decapitated’s fifth studio album is being produced by Wacek Kieltyka and sound engineered by Malta Arkadiusz Malczewski. Drums have been recorded with Daniel Bergstrand, who is also handling mixing duties.

Decapitated Issues Recording Update

Polish death metallers Decapitated have checked in from the Radio Gdansk Studio, where they are currently recording the follow-up to 2006’s “Organic Hallucinations." The album is being produced by Wacek Kieltyka and sound engineer Malta Arkadiusz Malczewski. Drums are being recorded with Daniel Bergstrand, who will also handle mixing duties.

Commented drummer Kerim: "Hi guys, I just wanted to tell you what is going on in the studio. Today is the second day of actual drum recording and it goes really well! We will probably could finish about 4 songs today. We will see how the next days will look like but I think we should finish drums earlier. We do not have any bigger problems so it feels good to record in this place. The acoustics of this room sounds great so I enjoy playing all these songs a lot. Today is also the last day with Daniel Bergstrand, who prepared the drum sound for us. And he definitely knows what he’s doing!!

"When I listen to the songs right now I believe that this album will be strong. Different in some ways but I feel confident about the new material. Being part of the new line up and recording the first album after the long break is definitely a big thing for me. After all those shows we played together, this is our new challenge. It’s not easy but I like challenges! So that’s it for today. Stay tuned for more news coming up!"

Decapitated Checks In From The Studio

Polish death metal outfit Decapitated has begun work on a new studio album, which will be the band's first since 2006's, "Organic Hallucinosis." A message from founding guitarist Waclaw "Vogg" Kieltyka reads as follows:

"Hi there, we've just started the recording session of the new album at the studio of Radio Gdansk which is brilliantly equipped and has some wicked recording space. This time ‘round, we are working with Malta (Arek Malczewski) and Daniel Bergstrand who have been with us to set up the drums sound… and so far everything has been going surprisingly well.

"Right now, [drummer] Kerimh [Lechner] is finishing the last two tunes. I must say the drums sound really cool. Daniel has surprised us with his approach towards recording using millions of - often weird - solutions, e.g. a piano or using the corridor of Radio Gdansk. More...

Decapitated To Return w/ New Lineup, World Tour

Wacek “Vogg” Kieltyka, guitarist & founding member of the Polish death metal band DECAPITATED, has issued the following statement:

"It’s time to come back! After a two-year break, DECAPITATED is coming back with new members. The official new line-up for DECAPITATED will be announced at the end of December.

“As you all know, the decision to continue the band was really, really hard for me, but everything I do now is to keep DECAPITATED alive. [Vocalist] Covan’s situation has not improved much and he is still in bed and unable to function on his own. He still fights to recover as we speak and we are all still 100% behind him and hope for the best. It has been the hardest thing for me to move on without [brother & drummer] Vitek by my side, but he would have wanted me to continue with the band.

“Finally, I have found some great musicians who can continue the work of Vitek and Covan. At the beginning of April, DECAPITATED will start to play our first reunion shows. We will visit the biggest cities in Australia and play some of the biggest summer festivals in Europe. Don’t worry, we won’t forget about the U.K.! After this, the band will concentrate on the making of a new album! I would like to thank all the people who have supported us all this time."

Maurizio Iacono of the artist management firm Hard Impact Music adds:

"I feel very privileged to have been given the management duties of guiding this great band’s future. DECAPITATED was a band on the verge of greatness until tragedy hit them and the band’s world stopped suddenly. Today, we have a man on a quest to bring the glory back that was taken from them prematurely. Vogg, the band’s last remaining founding member, has had the gut-wrenching task of forming a new line-up for DECAPITATED. You can bet that the mission has been accomplished and in honor of the fallen, their legacies will be given the justice they deserve. Our job at Hard Impact is to make sure that DECAPITATED are guided the right way back to the top."

Gerardo Martínez, Nuclear Blast USA’s Label Manager comments:

“I don’t think there’s anyone happier to know that the legacy of DECAPITATED will continue and the fact that Vogg has overcome the biggest obstacle of his life. We all at Nuclear Blast are extremely excited about the news and know that 2010 and beyond will bring a new chapter for DECAPITATED in the shape of live shows and the imminent new album. The masters of modern technical death metal are back!”

Vader Reveals "Necropolis" Details

VADER's new full length album entitled "Necropolis" will be released in Europe on August 21 through Nuclear Blast. The album will be available as a standard CD edition, digi pack (featuring two cover tracks and bonus DVD) edition and vinyl edition. The album artwork and the whole layout was made by Jacek Wisniewski (who also made cover arts for such albums as "Black To The Blind", "Litany", "Revelations" and many more).

"Necropolis" was recorded at Hertz Studio with Slawek and Wojtek Wieslawski behind the helm. Then the album was mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen at his Antfarm Studio (it's been band's first cooperation with a foreign producer since "The Ultimate Incantation").

Peter commented: "Tue Madsen did tremendous work! He modeled power on this album. It is not easy to make VADER sound heavy and clear. When I was listening to the master tape for a first time, I knew after the opening notes that 'Necropolis' is gonna be a BLAST indeed!!! Tue thinks the same, which makes me even more happy. No VADER album sounded so powerful without loss of all these details in the songs. I am impressed indeed!!! We will do video clips, of course! I'm not sure yet which songs are gonna be chosen. I have some 'evil stories' in my mind just waiting to be realized. Personally, I want to see a clip for 'Devilizer', which opens 'Necropolis'. The CD front cover was done by Jacek Wisniewski and explains what's inside the album... We summoned the Old Spirits again. The Unknown is awakened...again. 'Necropolis' is exactly like the picture seen on the front cover: solid, metal and evil, with many details, backgrounds and... hidden mysteries. There's also another thing that don't let me fall asleep since a few days. I mean very honest, positive, almost enthusiastic response from Nuclear Blast!"

Digi pack editions of the album will feature two cover songs: "Black Metal" of VENOM (with a guest appearance of Bart Krysiuk from HERMH), and "Fight Fire With Fire" of METALLICA (featuring Maciek Taff from ROOTWATER, BLACK RIVER). Also included is a bonus DVD featuring a part of a charity show for Covan (DECAPITATED) the band played on April 26 in Krakow. The show recorded by 5 cameras, dynamic editing and HD quality - all that made by Inbornmedia Company from Wroclaw.

Here is the complete "Necropolis" tracklisting: More...
