GWAR Announces Tour With Decapitated

Oderus is missing. Once the Scumdogs in GWAR finally notice this (it takes them a while to notice stuff) they will set off on a journey to find their departed brother using every resource available - including recruiting an ancient Scumdog warrior.

GWAR will need the help from everyone, even the lowliest Bohab, as the band's enemies are plotting to take advantage of the hole in GWAR's ranks.

BalSac The Jaws of Death radioed in this statement on The "GWAR Eternal Tour 2014" and what to expect:

"Dark clouds of war and ill omen have gathered around GWAR. In our hour of greatest peril, Oderus has left us and our enemies stand poised, ready to strike while they sense weakness. But we shall no longer cower in our Antarctic stronghold, awaiting Destiny's final blow. This Fall GWAR sets out on the most trying quest of our career. We shall scour our leader's favorite stomping ground, North America, leaving no city unsearched, no venue unraised, and no sheep unmolested. GWAR will venture to the depths of Hell or to the very end of Time itself, and though I fear what we may encounter out there, I know that we can never return home until we have the answer we seek: 'Where is Oderus Urungus?'"

GWAR fans have been mourning the loss of Dave Brockie, GWAR's founder and lead singer, since March. The "GWAR Eternal Tour 2014" gives them an opportunity to gather and share a bunch of feels as a community while experiencing the sickest band in this or any other world. More...

Bloodstock Festival Reveals Full 2014 Lineup

The final bands have now been announced for this year's edition of the Bloodstock Festival, which takes place from August 7th - 10th (get ticket info and other details over here). The organizers of the festival comment:

"The ‘Metal 2 The Masses’ finals have rocked to a conclusion and some more lucky young bands are joining the New Blood stage at Catton Park next month, plus there's a few last additions for the Sophie and Jagermeister stages.

"Balls Deep bring their trad groove metal to the Sophie Lancaster stage. The Brit outfit have been busy honing their ‘Pro-Pain cut with Black Sabbath’ sound, coming on like the bastard sons of Pantera and classic heavy metal.

"Over on the Jagermeister stage, female-fronted power metallers Aceldama will be impressing allcomers with their high octane performance and audience interaction, while New Blood stage stoner rocker’s Resin will be offering an additional acoustic spin on their new material.

"Meanwhile, the New Blood stage welcomes the last clutch of winners from the last batch of M2TM roadshow finals. Goat Leaf bring their doom groove from the Sheffield heats, Oakhaart’s tech death noise hails from Gloucestershire, impressing judges at the Bristol event, Sinpathetic grace us with their death metal from the Preston night, Eradikator’s thrash metal won out in Birmingham, and lastly but not least, Cacodaemonic's unholy, neo-classical infused death metal represents Nottingham."

Bloodstock Announces Art Exhibition

The work of JRR Tolkien has long been a favorite muse of rock and metal artists. This year's Bloodstock bands Megadeth, Amon Amarth, and Dimmu Borgir all have used Tolkien references in their work, along with many others (Nightwish, Gorgoroth and even the likes of Led Zeppelin to name but a few).

Now Bloodstock’s co-founder, fantasy artist Paul Raymond Gregory, is thrilled to bring the two themes together and launch a major art exhibition at Bloodstock this year.

Christened the Rock and Metal (RAM) Gallery, the exhibition is to be a permanent addition to the festival and will provide a showcase for a changing selection of rock-related art and memorabilia. Paul Raymond Gregory’s extensive body of work includes many famous album sleeves and monolithic pieces inspired by the writings of JRR Tolkien. Paul’s first ever album cover commission was in 1984 for Saxon’s "Crusader," so launching the RAM Gallery on the 30th anniversary of Paul’s artistic debut in the metal world is fitting indeed.

This year’s first showing will include all the original Bloodstock festival artwork, going right back to the first indoor event in 2001, plus a wide range of Paul’s album art including the sleeve of Saxon’s latest release "Sacrifice." Representing Paul’s Tolkien work, there will also be a large triptych inspired by The Silmarillion opus (from whence Marillion derived its name). The painting will be mounted in a bespoke hand-carved frame created by framer John Davis. Although John has framed much of Paul’s other work, the triptych features the first frame actually designed by Paul himself. In addition, Paul will be signing copies of his book "Beyond Time And Place," which showcases artwork from the breadth of his career.

The exhibition will also include a small selection of bespoke handmade guitars created by young artist/musician Cynosure who is working to re-define the guitar, not just as a functional instrument, but as a working, playable piece of art.

The current Bloodstock Festival 2014 lineup is shaping up as follows: More...

Bloodstock Adds More Bands To 2014 Lineup

The organizers of the Bloodstock Festival have checked in with the following update about confirming more bands for the 2014 edition:

"Things are hotting up at Bloodstock HQ and even more bands are unveiled for 2014!! Joining the main stage bill are the newly renamed, Entombed A.D. After having to change their name from just ‘Entombed’, LG Petrov and his fellow band members are once again ready to let the music do the talking after a year of internal struggles. They release the highly anticipated new album ‘Back to the Front’ on 4th August via Century Media and are eager to get back on the road.

"Getting the heads banging on the Sophie stage on Thursday are British trad metalheads Monument, and bringing their own brand of theatrical madness and extreme metal are former ‘Metal 2 The Masses’ winners, Gethika. Bringing an international flavour on Sunday are death/thrash metallers Krow, who hail all the way from Brazil. Fancy something a little different? Then check out 16-yr old blues star in the making Aaron Keylock, also performing on Sunday’s Sophie stage.

"Not content with that, Bloodstock can also reveal six killer bands for the Jagermeister stage! Grab a couple Jagerbombs and come headbang to Undersmile and King Creature on Friday, plus Massive Wagons and a special acoustic set from Orphaned Land on Saturday. If you’re still standing come Sunday, be sure to catch Rabid Bitch of the North and The Heretic Order."

The festival takes place from August 7th - 10th and full details are available at this location. The currently announced lineup is as follows: More...

Decapitated Issues New Album Update

The Polish tech-death masters in Decapitated are currently busy at Hertz Studio working on their new album. Now the band has posted a new message right in the midst of is recording progress:

"We are now at the stage of tracking the vocals and the guitars. It looks like recording the new Decapitated album has so far proved extremely demanding. Never before had we faced a challenge as testing as the new songs turned out to be. We cross-breed various styles, sounds and every day we put the crossbar higher and higher.

"Slowly but surely everything starts to come along and we can clearly feel something hugely exciting is emerging. Surely it is going to be the new level for Decapitated and as usually, as with each subsequent album, both music and sound will be somewhat different. I've been using my new custom-made Ibanez Iceman guitar during this session and EVH amps and cabs. The sound is original, powerful and crushing.

"We flirt with various tempos mixing death metal with grindcore and almost outright black metal atmosphere together with more, so to speak, 'crowd-puller' beats verging on groovy, almost stoner-rock climates. There are also a few more modern metal rhythmic riffs where we return to the climate of »Organic Hallucinosis« album. I'm certain that the very fact we are again, after 9 years, in Hertz studio will evoke the spirit of that album.

"The vocals sound very promising. Rasta is a much more experienced vocalist compared to the 'Carnival Is Forever' album times. And his voice sounds more powerful and deeper. There's still a lot of work ahead of us so I gotta go now." More...

Decapitated Checks In From The Studio

Last week Polish death metal outfit Decapitated entered Hertz Studio to record a new album, and now the band has checked in with the following studio update:

"It’s been one week now since we came to Hertz Studio. After almost nine years we are here again and it's pretty cool to see Wieslawski bros again and be in studio where we recorded three albums.

"So, what is going on now is drums recording. Third song is recording right now and we want to finish one more today. Everything sounds very promising already. We are using Ludwig drums from 70's which is very not very popular these days. New room in Hertz sounds great and gives us chance to record very natural sound."

Decapitated also recently announced drummer Michal Lysejko as a full-time member of the band. Don't miss Decapitated live on these dates:

11.04 BE Bomal-sur-Ourthe - Durbuy Rock Festival

Decapitated Recording Album, Announces Drummer

On March 10th, Polish death metal band Decapitated hit Hertz Studio in Poland to record a sixth record, which will follow "Carnival Is Forever" (reviewed here). The yet-untitled creation is set for a release in September via Nuclear Blast.

In another note, the band also today announces drummer Michal Lysejko as a full-time member of Decapitated. Commented guitarist Waclaw "Vogg" Kieltyka:

“We would like to share few news with you. All you know that we've been quite busy lately. We had some personal changes in the band and also we did I guess the best tours we had; with Meshuggah, Lamb Of God, and Children of Bodom.

"First of all we want to introduce you to Decapitated's new drummer Michal Lysejko. Some of you had a chance to meet him already during tour with LAMB OF GOD this January. Also I want to say THANK YOU to the rest of the people who took a challenge and sent their video for an audition.
Also since January this year we signed worldwide management contract with Continental Concerts & Management.

"That's for sure big step and opportunity for us and big challenge. But I guess the most important news for most of you is that after almost nine years we back to Hertz Studio (albums: 'Nihility,' 'The Negation,' 'Organic Hallucinosis') to record new album which will be released autumn this year.
