German power metal act Rage has announced that the band has begun the writing process for a follow up to "Strings To A Web." The band will enter Twilight Hall Studios in Germany with famed producer Charlie Bauerfeind (Blind Guardian, Nightwish, Saxon) in October 2011. The new album is expected in 2012.

Vocalist Peter "Peavy" Wagner of Rage has checked in with the following blog about the band's appearance at the 70,000 Tons of Metal Cruise:
"After a quite relaxing flight and a surprisingly unannoying entry into the US, we arrive at our hotel which is located directly at Miami Beach. So that is the territory of Crockett & Tubbs. After getting some food at the beach restaurant we indulge in the happy hour at our hotel bar, having diverse free drinks. Later on, we continue at diverse other bars, savoring a few buckets of barley sherbet. At some point I'm fagged out and go for sleep while André is considering getting a new tattoo and Victor is carrying on his pub tour with some coincidental acquaintances, a few fellow Russians.
"Here we go. We try to get to the harbor by taxi which is quite difficult as half of Miami is closed because of obsequies for 2 policemen (Crockett & Tubbs ??) who were killed in a shootout 2 days before. After a number of detours our taxi driver finds a way, dropping us off at our shuttle. The Majesty of the Seas is a gigantic floating tower, having everything on board one could wish for. Pure luxury - in comparison, the 'Traumschiff' (from a popular German TV series) is a bleak nutshell. In fact, all the black, long-haired masses which were populating every spot aboard didn’t really fit the ambience. Just imagine Wacken on sea. We move into comfortable cabins with sea view, being door to door with diverse buddies from all the other bands. A real alumni reunion.
"There are 3 stages, with the main stage being located in a theater (decks 5-7), one deck across a smaller stage in a lounge, and the pool stage upstairs on deck 12. Every band, 40 in numbers, was expected to play at about the same time. Our departure is being delayed for some time because a crane which is to heave the stage elements for the pool stage on board was late due to the jam in the city. Although the departure will be just 1 hour later, it costs the organizer an extra 100,000 dollars as he has to get a new leaving out permission. More...

Who ever thought that Rage will capture their place in this shark tank of the music business, developing themselves to an established factor in the global metal world for a quarter-century. Certainly, a big part is because of you, therefore a huge 'thank you' from our side.

Shortly before Christmas, German power metallers RAGE shot two video clips from their new album, "Carved in Stone", for the songs "Lord of the Flies" and "Open My Grave". According to the band, "while 'Lord of the Flies' is a dark and occult clip with a lot of actors and guests (like singer Jen Majura), 'Open My Grave' presents more the musicians of the band on their instruments. The location was a very old basement cavity from the beginning of the 18th century, which is located under a whorehouse! You can imagine, that the boys had a couple of guests while their stay. The clips were produced by Katja Piolka, who had RAGE in front of her lenses already before."
Watch both videos below.
An orchestral version of the RAGE song "Lord of the Flies", which also appears on the German group's new album, "Carved in Stone", will be featured in the new computer game Windchaser, due in May. According to the band, the new version of the track features "a bombastic arrangement and a great number of top-class guest musicians. With a well-rehearsed, classic team, the Lingua Mortis Orcherstra from Minsk, which [previously made an appearance] on [RAGE's] 'Speak of the Dead' album, and which supported RAGE at various gigs, this special orchestra version of 'Lord of the Flies' sounds like [it is being] played by a 50-member-strong rock band with classic instruments! The recordings took place in January 2008 at the Inspector Studio in Minsk (Belarus), homeland of guitarist Victor Smolski, who is responsible for arrangement and mix of the song." More...
