Rage Posts "Anybody Home?" Lyric Video

Legendary German metal act Rage released a lyric video for the new track "Anybody Home?." The song will appear on the upcoming 30th Anniversary double CD release "The Soundchaser Archives," which is due out via Nuclear Blast Records on May 23rd.

The band previously explained the track in published liner notes: "This is a newly recorded song we created from leftover ideas we had from the '21' sessions. At that time we couldn´t find the right grooves for it and after changing the arrangement a million times, it was too late for that album. Now, after re-visiting the tune two years later, it came out naturally. It was real fun for us to turn up the volume and kick it out roughly, a good marker for our future."

The track list for "The Soundchaser Archives" is:

CD 1:

1. Anybody Home?
2. Mystery Trip
3. In Union
4. Long Hard Road
5. Full Moon (international version)
6. Nevermore

Rage Comments On "The Soundchaser Archives"

After previously announcing the cover artwork and track list for the upcoming 30th anniversary release "The Soundchaser Archives," which will be out on May 23rd, German heavy metal act Rage now presents the first part of the liner notes on this ultimate song collection.

1. Anybody Home: "This is a newly recorded song we created from leftover ideas we had from the '21' sessions. At that time we couldn´t find the right grooves for it and after changing the arrangement a million times, it was too late for that album. Now, after re-visiting the tune two years later, it came out naturally. It was real fun for us to turn up the volume and kick it out roughly, a good marker for our future."

2. Mystery Trip: "This was a bonus track for the European limited edition version of 'Unity.'"

3. In Union: "This is a leftover Song Victor wrote for the album »Into the Light« which he produced for the Nuclear Blast 25th Anniversary. Originally it was planned that Hammerfall's Joacim Cans would sing it, but we couldn´t schedule the recording session, as he was too busy. So we planned to give it to Tarja Turunen with new lyrics written especially for her (‘Raven And Swan’). Unfortunately she also turned it down, as it seemed too heavy for her, so she sang something different. In the end the song was used by Mind Odyssey for their 'Time To Change It' album. What you hear now is our first demo with Peavy´s pilot vocals."

4. Long Hard Road: "At the time we worked on »Carved In Stone«, we used to rehearse in the studio, so we would record our new ideas directly in a good quality. What you hear is absolutely live with no overdubs at all. This is already the second version we recorded, five minutes before that, Peavy finished the lyrics."

5. Full Moon (international version): "This is a re- mix from several versions of this song we did as bonus tracks for the diverse versions of Speak Of The Dead. At this time we recorded the song in five different languages that were only issued in the specific territories. Peavy sung it in English, German, Spanish, Russian and Japanese. Of course these versions were real live killers in the language´s countries, as you can imagine. For the first time you can hear a funny new mix with all these languages, a Babylonian joy." More...

Lingua Mortis Orchestra To Record Debut Album

Last month the Lingua Mortis Orchestra – founded by German heavy metallers Rage as an orchestral side project – made its live debut over the course of 2013’s 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise.

On the high seas in the Caribbean, the 15-member band played two gigs in the packed Chorus Line Theater on board of the Majesty Of The Seas cruise ship. Enthusiastic feedback by both fans and the press provided the combo with another boost of motivation for the upcoming recordings of a debut album. The recording is due in April under the musical direction of Victor Smolski. Right in time for several booked festival shows (on this year’s Wacken Open Air, among others), Lingua Mortis Orchestra’s debut record is set for an early August release.

Victor Smolski – guitarist and head of the project – comments on the work progress: “Back from Florida’s heat to Germany’s iciness, but there can be no talk of feeling chilly – we’re boiling over with work in our studio! I’m already back in arranging and composing mode, while mountains of scores are piling up on my desk. I’m already fascinated by the new Lingua Mortis Orchestra songs due to their multifacetedness: Rock-hard tracks, some of them even heavier than those of our latest Rage record '21,' are contrasted with balladic melodies of sheer beauty.

"The first official Lingua Mortis Orchestra album will be something very special for us, as we’ve never created anything like this before. You can look forward to a concept album with long tracks, sung by Peavy and enriched with female vocals as well as with exotic orchestra instruments. I’ll keep you posted!"

Rage Posts Song Updates For New LP

German power metal band Rage has posted additional song updates on the band's Official Website as the group records a new LP, tentatively entitled "Twenty One." Vocalist/bassist Peavy Wagner gives the following descriptions of "Psycho Terror," "Forever Dead" and "Twenty One:"

"Psycho Terror"

Music: André Hilgers / Victor Smolski
Lyrics: Peavy Wagner

"This song shows André together with Victor first time as a composer. It has super heavy riffing and a well-fitting hymn like chorus. Here, Victor is able to work out a real fat basis with halting midtempo killer grooves and droptunig. The arrangement developes up to a short drum solo at the end.

The words are about bad experiences in relationships..." More...

Rage Reveals More Details Of New LP

German power metal legends Rage are currently working with producer Charlie Bauerfeind at Twilight Hall Studio to record the next album. The CD will include ten new songs, two of which are entitled "Twenty One" and "Serial Killer."

Frontman Peavy Wagner commented: "We [are] also thinking about taking '21' as the album title.

"Probably you've heard that our new album will be pretty heavy. We've sparkled in creativity and it was great fun to work out these songs; it was real teamwork.

"It's so great to work together with such fantastic musicians like Victor (Smolski) and André (Hilgers)."

Peavy explains more about the song "Serial Killer": "This, almost 6 minutes long song is one of the most unusual songs we're done since long. On one hand on the musical side, here I'm singing some parts with brutal Death Metal grunts for the first time. The complex guitar and drum arrangements are also to mention, here are very interesting changes of rhythm from straight grooves with fast sixteenth to triplet parts. Also the fantastic guitar solo with classic touch which bring over a similar atmosphere as Victors solo at 'Set This World On Fire'."

The release is due in the beginning of March 2012, shortly before the band begins touring.
