Gorgoroth Issue the following update:
"Contiuning on with the new agenda now forged for Gorgoroth, Gaahl and King have enlisted none other than Hellhammer (Mayhem) to join them on battery beginning in 2008."
"Gaahl and King are creating a force which will only contain members of a strong and creative energy in honor of the art that is Gorgoroth and their renewed sense of destruction and war! Hellhammer possesses these ideals and he will add another dimension to this new and different beginning."
"Please welcome Hellhammer to the battle!"
The organizers of the Atarfe Vega Rock festival — which was scheduled to take place December 1, 2007 at Coliseo Ciudad Atarfe in Atarfe, Granada, Spain and feature appearances by such artists as JOEY BELLADONNA, EXCITER, GRAVE DIGGER, KATATONIA, LACRIMOSA, LIZZY BORDEN, MAYHEM, MY DYING BRIDE and VENOM — have issued the following update:
"As some of you will know due to official statements that can be red in the websites of some of the bands confirmed for the Atarfe Vega Rock Festival 2007, we sadly have to announce that the festival must be postponed until March of 2008, as a result of the damages caused by the floods that the city of Atarfe suffered, and about them all media from Spain informed.
"The '200 litres / m2' heavy downpour has meant 20 euro millions worth damages. These damages, as well as the duties of the engineers of the insurance companies, don't let us celebrate the Atarfe Vega Rock Festival the coming 1st of December in the Bullring and its area, as it was announced.
"We've had a meeting with the Mayor and the local authorities to show them how worried we were about it, and to get a reply about this situation. They've always told us that the festival can take place as expected, and we have to respect it, to ensure the security of people who attend to the festival, bands and staff of the festival.
"We've looked for an alternative location, but once again due to security reasons it's been impossible to find another place in Atarfe. We've even tried to celebrate the festival in another city, but there was no suitable location available, where the festival could take place and we could work in the production required for this festival, taking in account that we didn't have much time.
"After searching without success an alternative location, and once we've reached an agreement with the City Hall and the confirmed bands, we've decided to postpone the festival until March of 2008.
"Except due to date difficulties, we count on all the confirmed bands, as well as with other groups which will be also in the billing.
"With regard to people who have bought their tickets, they'll get their money back in the same stores, where they bought them. We really thank you for your support and loyalty. Besides, we want to compensate those people who have bought a flight ticket to attend to the festival. For this reason they'll get in for free in March, and they'll get free drinks. It's required that they send us an e-mail with the receipt of the flight ticket to verify it.
"We're very sorry about this postponement and the problems that it can mean to you, but no one expected that such a natural disaster could take place in Atarfe. We beg you for comprehension.
"As well as you, this postponement affects us too, because we had booked some bands, which fortunately have understood this setback and have agreed to play in March.
"In the same manner we've bought many international flight tickets for the bands, and now we'll have to buy more to let the groups come and play in March.
"Once again we beg you for understanding what it has happened, because this extraordinary situation is out of our control."

Aries, vocalist for Austrian Black Metallers HELLSAW, who this week released their new album “Phantasm”, recently had this to say about the upcoming tour, “… all three bands are exponents of quite different types of Black Metal, and we each have our own style of stage show, which makes it much more interesting for the fans, as well as for the bands concerned”.

ATTACK OF RAGE
The first part (out of five) of the sequel to the acclaimed Norwegian/Swedish documentary "Cult of Aggression", focusing on the Norwegian black metal pioneers MAYHEM, has been posted on the band's official web site: Stream, Download (Windows Media, 25 MB). Entitled "Pure Fucking Mayhem", the new documentary was financed by the film's director, Stefan Rydehed, and "will be shown at film festivals around the globe," according to Rydehed. "If any company wants to release it, they can contact me; otherwise it will be released through the Internet."
According to the director, "Pure Fucking Mayhem" covers MAYHEM's history from the early days to the present day and it [is] a totally new documentary." Included in the film is a brand new interview with MAYHEM singer Attila Csihar, conducted on February 4, 2007 at a SHINING gig in Halmstad, Sweden. "With the documentary there will also be a soundtrack for it — black metal songs played on piano," Rydehed said.
The original film, "Cult of Aggression", was released in 2002 and received its world premiere in 2004 at the Oslo Filmfestival, where it was shown twice. It is available for viewing in its entirety at http://www.thetruemayhem.com/chaos.htm
"The first documentary about MAYHEM, 'Cult of Aggression', was about their history — mainly about their music, but, of course, if a band has such a bloody history as MAYHEM, you can't [leave] that out of the documentary," Rydehed has said
"'Cult of Aggression' was mainly with Manheim and Necro Butcher but had a few parts about Dead when I used a voice-over and some folks who lived in Kråkstad when the band had their rehersal/livingplace there," Rydehed added.
"The new version of [the film], which will be totally new except Manheim's part, will still focus about the music, events, albums, members and session members and people who have been involved in the scene. So it will be a pretty huge documentary. Still underground!"
In a move that will surprise many who bought into the rumours that there is no love lost between the two, current MAYHEM vocalist Attila Csihar has joined former MAYHEM vocalist Maniac to record vocals for a track on the debut album from Maniac's new band SKITLIV. Commented Maniac: "Contrary to what a lot of people either say or believe, Attila and I are actually very good friends, and always find rumours about how we are supposed to resent each other quite amusing."
The track, entitled "Amfetamin", also has SHINING's Niklas Kvarforth on guitar. Kvarforth, a close friend of both vocalists, recently joined SKITLIV as recording guitarist. About the track, Maniac said: "'Amfetamin' started life as a pretty disturbing piece of music to begin with. Once Niklas joined in it became even more so, and now that Attila has added his vocals, it's taken on yet another dimension; his voice is used almost as an instrument."
SKITLIV will be touring with Japanese all-girl band GALLHAMMER in the autumn, with dates already confirmed in Norway, Denmark, Germany and Belgium. A new raw, un-mastered version of "Amfetamin", with Atilla's vocals added can be heard on the official SKTILIV MySpace page.
As you've probably heard, MAYHEM drummer Hellhammer recently had his arm injured and won't be able to play for a few weeks. Consequently, the band has to cancel their appearances at this year's Hellfest - set to take place June 23-25 in Clisson, France, and With Full Force - set to take place June 29-July 1st in Löbnitz, Germany.
The scheduled US tour, due to happen in July, is postponed and will be rescheduled. We will let you know the new dates as soon as they are booked and confirmed.
Former MAYHEM vocalist Maniac has recruited SHINING's Niklas Kvarforth to the ranks of his Doom Black Metal band SKTILIV as a guitarist for recording purposes. A big fan of Skitliv, to the extent that he has the band's name tattooed on his arm, Kvarforth has already laid down guitars on several tracks and also plans to play live with the band whenever his commitments to SHINING will permit.
Commented Maniac "SHINING is, and always will be, Niklas' priority, but recording with SKITLIV is no problem for him, and whenever the opportunity arises, he will join us on stage. Niklas is a real artist and an incredibly skilled musician; something people tend to ignore because all they ever seem to be able to focus on is the hype surrounding SHINING. His dedication to his music is extraordinary and working with him, and watching him create, is both a pleasure and an education. He has come up with some amazing riffs for SKITLIV, which have added a whole new dimension to the music."
"Amfetamin", an unfinished track featuring Kvarforth, has been added to SKITLIV's official MySpace page.
A video clip of MAYHEM vocalist Attila Csihar performing the MAYHEM classic "Deathcrush" with Israeli extreme metal pioneers SALEM on December 27th, 2005 at the Theatre Club in Tel Aviv, has been posted on SALEM's YouTube channel. A number of high-quality photos from the gig, which featured a mini-set of MAYHEM classics performed by Attila and SALEM, is available at Metalist.co.il.
SALEM's new album "Necessary Evil" is being released today in Europe and tomorrow in North America. As previously announced, the first pressing of the album comes with a limited-edition slipcase with different artwork and backlay. Once this edition is sold out, it will not be reprinted and only the regular jewel-case version will be available.
Last but not least, don't forget both MAYHEM and SALEM are to perform at this year's edition of the Hellfest, set to take place on June 22nd-24th in Clisson, France. More...
SKITLIV, the Doom Black Metal band formed and fronted by former MAYHEM vocalist Maniac, has posted a new video for “Virescit Volnere Virtus,” on the band’s official MySpace page.
The video, shot by Maniac himself, is a pastiche of still photographs interspersed with some live shots, with special effects to give it the feel of the old silent movies. Included are photos of friends, shots of Maniac’s studio, various band members, Oslo scenes, and various other things that, he says in his usual cryptic manner, “may, or may not, have some significance in my life.”
SKITLIV is due to play four dates with Japanese all-girl band GALLHAMMER in September/October of this year.

Norwegian documentary "Satan Rides the Media" (original Norwegian-language title: "Satan rir Media"), which traces the tumultuous history of black metal through the early Nineties, when a string of church burnings turned the nation's eyes toward a small group of sinister metalheads, has been posted online at YouTube (in Norwegian, with English subtitles):
The 52-minute film, which was originally released in 1998, spotlights Varg Vikernes of the one-man band BURZUM, and his involvement in the burning of the historic Fantoft stave church in Bergen. After a journalist interviewed Vikernes (who later changed his name to Count Grishnackh) and he confessed, the media went buck-wild with the satanist slant, and they portrayed the metal scene as black-clad, evil-obsessed devil worshippers with no remorse and a penchant for hoarding animal heads. Vikernes adored the media attention, and even used photos of the churches he burnt (three in all) on the cover of a BURZUM album. (This would become briefly popular, as the band MAYHEM used a photo of bandmate "Dead" on the cover of an album, shortly after he blew his brain out with a shotgun.) Vikernes, however, had a more traditional reason for burning the churches. "The church [in Norway] has behaved so disgracefully," said a clean-cut Varg from prison. He reasons that he was just trying to save Norway from Christianity and return it to its pagan (not satanic) roots. More...
MAYHEM's latest album, Ordo Ad Chao gives the band its highest chart position yet, landing on Norway's Album Chart at #12, according to Faro Journalen (farojournalen.gan.no). An article detailing the chart action (in Norwegian) can be found here.
As previously reported, the black metal legends are returning to North American for dates this July. Confirmed dates include: More...
Former MAYHEM vocalist Maniac has teamed up with an eclectic mix of Oslo-based musician friends in a band called TEAM ARMSTRONG, which is set to play Oslo's Elm Street on May 1. A rehearsal track entitled "Oslo City Babylon" can be heard on the band's MySpace page.
According to Maniac, the band has actually been in existence for some time now, with various members getting together whenever the occasion arises - the line-up being quite fluid, and musicians coming and going depending on commitments at any given time. The idea behind the band is to give the musicians, who are all active on the Oslo scene, the opportunity to come together and, not to put too fine a point on it, "have a good time"; playing what they feel like, without the constraints of genre or their own bands.
Aside from Maniac himself (under the name of Pastor Maniac), the current line up, and the one that will play at Elm Street, consists of Tore Moren (CARNIVORA, ARCTURUS, ex JORN), Ivar The Blanco (SILVER, HAPPY DAGGER), Anton (Anton Ruud and The Long Way Home), Hoegh, Dan Thunderbird (Backstreet Girls, RatCats) and Bent Metal (Gatecrashers, Borderline Bitches).
Maniac is writing and recording for his own band SKITLIV, and has recently completed recording guitars and vocals for a track on the soon to be released album from Sweden's DEADWOOD. Three un-mastered tracks from the forthcoming SKITLIV album can be heard on the band's official myspace page.
