Austin, TX blackened death metallers Whore Of Bethlehem released the ten-song excursion "Upon Judas' Throne" earlier in the year, a release that you may now stream digitally below. A video the band did for the title track also follows.
Whore Of Bethlehem will be performing on October 16th with Suffocation and Kataklysm, and on October 29th with Deicide and Septic Flesh. Both shows are at the Dirty Dog Bar in Austin.
(March 11, 2013) Beerland seemed the perfect venue for the suds fest that marked this year's South By Southwest festival--at least the music portion. Alcohol-induced projections, from top to bottom, were a common, public spectacle this year. One had to be aware of stepping into a puddle of piss or slipping on chucks of regurgitated BBQ on the sidewalk. Some venues, including parties held outside of the downtown area, even offered free drinks. Turbid North possesses many facets that make them an attractive concert prospect. The group plays a style of extreme metal that is mellow and malevolent at the same time. They have released two albums, and now they’re backed by Unearth’s Trevor Phipps’ Ironclad Records. Turbid North’s story is of interest, too. Their members migrated from Alaska and England to north Texas. Still, the group expressed their concern about packing clubs in unknown markets.
I reassured bassist, Chris O’Toole that their performance at Head Hunters would be a success because the opening, local bands would help pack the house. This is exactly what happened. Patrons came out to see Turbid North, but the large bill of bands playing on two stages resulted in nearly filling the couple-hundred capacity inside Head Hunters.
