Organizers of the Keep It True Festival in Germany have announced that the Saturday headliner will be the reunited Dark Angel, with original vocalist Don Doty, Eric Meyer (Guitars), Mike Gonzalez (Bass) and new guitarist Justin Zych. Thought not officially confirmed, the announcement hints that drummer Gene Hoglan may return as well.

The drummer is not confirmed yet, but will be announced very soon. Looks like it will be a famous person from Dark Angel history, too.

"With 'Darkness Descends' Dark Angel recorded a milestone in Thrash Metal and at KIT you will see AT LEAST three musicians from that record performing. It will be legendary!!

"The festival is already COMPLETELY SOLD OUT. Thanks for your outstanding support!"

Sunday Old School: Jag Panzer

While the cities in New York, Florida and the Bay Area drove the early power/thrash independent music scene in the early eighties, another legendary U.S. band came to prominence far up in the Rocky Mountains. A group of musicians who knew each other since the second grade started their own band in homage to the European scene, calling themselves Tyrant before learning of the L.A. and German bands of the same name. Jag Panzer Calling It A Day

After more than three decades of delivering heavy metal to the masses, Jag Panzer has officially decided to call it quits.

"We are proud of every album we released and the support we've received from the heavy metal community," states guitarist and founder Mark Briody. " We've played so many places around the world and enjoyed every minute of it but the time has come where we just cannot move forward as a band."

Guitarist Christian Lasegue left the band last month to pursue his degree full time. "Christian did an amazing job on The Scourge of the Light and it was a pleasure working with him," continues Briody. "We wished Christian well but kept this quiet until we found a replacement."

Drummer Rikard Stjernquist says, "Several guitar players applied for the job. It was a pleasant surprise to see so many young guitarists with advanced chops. One player, 19 year old Jake Dreyer, submitted videos of him nailing solos from both Chris Broderick and Christian Lasegue. We were ready to welcome Jake into the band but unfortunately that will not happen. There is no doubt in any of our minds that Jake will go on to be a household name in his own right."

Bassist John Tetley adds a final statement: "In closing, we'd like to send out a huge heartfelt THANK YOU to metal fans throughout the world. You all rule!"

For the original band members Harry Conklin (vocals), Mark Briody (guitar) and John Tetley (bass), Jag Panzer has always been something they held close to their hearts. "We've known each other from our earliest childhood and have never lost sight of the idea that this band is based on," Tetley explains. "I don't exactly want to use the term 'spiritual', but the three of us are connected with this band by a very special relationship. Guitarist Chris Broderick left the group in 2007 to join the ranks of Megadeth. "There can be no question that Chris Broderick is an amazing guitarist, and we were really happy for him that he got this chance with Megadeth. But we feel that thanks to Christian Lasegue, Jag Panzer's classic, clearly more melodic power metal style has returned and that the fans will definitely be happy about this." Tetley commented. "We knew that Christian was the best man for the job, after all he was a band member for three years in the mid-1980s. I feel The Scourge Of The Light is the best-sounding album in the history of Jag Panzer."

Ex-Megadeth Guitarist Explains Departure

Guitarist Glenn Drover has delivered the following official statement in regards to his departure from MEGADETH:

"I am aware of the rumors that I left Megadeth to focus on family life. My family life has always been my priority.

"In the end, I was unhappy with the situation, which magnified me wanting to spend more time with my family and realizing that it’s time for me to move on to the next chapter in my musical career. First, I want to spend some good quality time here at home with my family for a little bit before getting into anything serious.

"Obviously, I have not spent the last several years of my life working hard to stop now.

"That would be insane, to put it mildly. This is what I do, and I am excited about what the future in music has in store for me.

"I would like to thank Dave (Mustaine) for giving me a great opportunity to be a part of Megadeth for the past 3 + years. To be a part of this band with my brother (drummer) Shawn (Drover) and tour the world, was awesome to say the least!

"I have a lot of great memories and met a ton of great people along the way, both fans and people in the industry. I am also very proud to have been a part of bringing Megadeth back to the forefront and firmly putting the band back on the map!

"Last but not least, I would like to thank all of the fans, the Megadeth road crew and all of my endorsements, as well as everyone who has supported me in making my time with Megadeth a very memorable experience!

Glen Drover."

As previously reported, Megadeth has officially welcomed new guitarist Chris Broderick (NEVERMORE, JAG PANZER).

"I've noticed [on the Internet] that people are pissed with me over the way things were handled with Glen quitting the group," says Mustaine, "but they're gonna be pissed even more when they hear how fierce we are with Chris! Megadeth is playing at a new level."

Broderick will make his live debut with Megadeth February 4th in Finland, where the group--guitarist/singer Mustaine, guitarist Broderick, drummer Shawn Drover and James Lomenzo on bass - is kicking off a long string of international dates which wrap March 14th in Bangalore, India.
