The band comments, "With our latest album ‘The Last Alliance’ we fulfilled our previous recording deal and for a while we looked for other options to our next album. We got a lot of offers around the globe, but it was very clear that Napalm didn’t want us to go and offered us a fine deal if we would continue with them. This new deal guarantees good conditions for our next album and touring.”

Battlore keyboardist Maria has posted the following tour blogs online:
Barcelona, Mephisto - Nov. 20th:
"Aaaah, Barcelona and the sunny, warm Spain! After hearing that there were snow storms in Finland, back home, we were really happy to be on tour… As we woke up quite early and went straight to the beach, drank some sauna-beers and had breakfast in the sun. Wow. There were fans waiting by the club early on, so we knew this would be a great night! It was. The Spanish crowd is always amazing. So, to celebrate the great evening, we drank some sauna-beers ;)"
Madrid, Sala Live - Nov. 22nd:
"We return to Madrid! It’s always been so great being in Madrid, and this time was no different! Thanks to our friend Alex, who always takes such good care of us, the girls had some proper vegetarian food and the guys got great meat! The venue was packed, I think we had about 400 people in that small venue, and as it was Saturday night, it meant a huge party for all the bands! The afterparty was also amazing - Finnish Fire-crew showed Spanish people how to party!"
Erfurt, Centrum - Nov. 27th:
"Another of those really nice, old German cities, we’d never heard of before the tour. A beautiful centre with all the Christmas lights and stuff - it’s hard to remember it’ll be Christmas soon with all that’s happening on tour. Maybe we’ll have a soon-to-be-Christmas celebration one of these days on tour… Although there seem to be enough reasons to celebrate even with no Christmas coming, heheh! Anyways - a great show again, and loads of Battlelore fans around. We heard that quite a lot of people had driven to Erfurt to see Battlelore, since we had to cancel the show in Glauchau… Wonderful people, and we were allowed to play for over an hour to give the best songs to the best people! After the great show and nice adrenaline flowing through our veins, we had some sauna-beers and enjoyed the atmosphere."
Battlelore has uploaded their brand new music video for the song, "Third Immortal" online. You can check it out below. The song is from the bands most recent album, "The Last Alliance" which entered the Finnish charts at number 26. More...
BATTLELORE frontman Tomi Mykkänen has issued the following update:
To my great regret I need to tell you that I am not able to be part of the Finnish Fire tour this autumn due to family reasons. I will take my personal leave from performing with BLore as of today so I will miss also the three Finnish gigs (Juva, Oulu and Kuopio). The reason why I’m missing the Finnish gigs as well is quite easy; we need to have the replacement vocalist trained for the tour and what is better place to train than gigs? Replacement vocalist? Yeah, there is one and he’s Harri (Witch King) from AVATHAR. Who would be a better replacement than other fellow Tolkien freak?!
Harri is an excellent growler with a deep, strong voice, and a great attitude for live shows. He also sings clean vocals, so he is the perfect session front man! The band will sound just as great as always! Hopefully you’ll all make him feel welcomed. Maybe buy him a beer or two…
I will be back in fold for the gig on January 1st 2009. More info on that later.
I feel very bummed for missing the gigs and new countries and lots of new (and old!) fans but sometimes in life happens things that are even more important than touring, drinking and rocking. The things like that are very rare though…Hahah!"

Here's what they say about it: "We show you Finland’s Tuska Festival in its true beer-and-Jäger-drenched glory, the way a proper Metal festival was meant to be enjoyed. With Korpiklaani’s fantastic song ‘Beer Beer’ as the theme tune, you can just imagine the sort of daft bollocks we got up to this time around!"
In this feature, Johan Hegg of Amon Amarth speaks about their new album, computer games and Viking paraphernalia. René has one too many Jägermeisters before the Primordial interview. Mille of Kreator talks about the pros and cons of Pro-Tools, their up and coming European and US tour in 2009 and their next album. Finally, they sign off this episode by interviewing Lord Of The Rings obsessives, Battlelore.

Coming shortly in Part 2: interviews with Entombed, Nile, Horna and Korpiklaani. More...

BATTLELORE guitarist Jyri Vahvanen has posted the following studio update:
"The ‘last’ day in studio for me. Yesterday we finished Kaisa’s vocals and in the evening we listened the songs carefully if there would be any reason for changes, adds or additional arrangements. Jussi and I made a few last guitar lines today morning and then… that was it! The whole session went very fast and when the end came, I was a bit confused and so is the rest of the band. We recorded eleven songs, but we do not know if they all are going to end up on the album and it has been very difficult to make a clear vision about the whole package. We will get a rough mix on Friday and that is actually the first time when we can really hear all the songs together with all of the tracks balanced and shaped.
"Well, actually there’s a little more to do: a few more verses for Kaisa and at least one 'shouting' part for Tomi and after we have heard the rough mix, there might be more some small changes, but it would only take a day or a two and of course there is the mixing still left. Huh! My mind is empty, soul wretched, and body shivering, but one thing is for sure: it is going to be a helluva’ album!"
BATTLELORE keyboardist Maria has posted this new studio report on the band's official website:
"Today (April 17) we finished all the keyboards and flutes for the songs. After getting all the things done I feel satisfied with everything I've done, somewhat overwhelmed, completely exhausted and yet happy. Right this minute I can't remember a thing I've played on tape and wonder whether I've actually done everything… Or at least something... I guess I'll realize I've finished my part after a few days of normal life again, hehehe, and the memories of hard work will return. (Only those, no memories of the hanging out in the evenings, having pinball tournaments with Jyri - which he always won, of course, drinking a few beers and just enjoying the relaxed and goofy atmosphere that always follows us to the studio).
Anyways, something about the new songs - they'll be bigger and better than ever before. We have put a lot of thought into giving the songs what they actually need and what serves the greater good, 'the master idea', behind the songs, not just adding things for the fun of adding things… So it'll definitely be something to look forward to! We all have a lot of faith in the producer Janne, he has proven his effectiveness and genius mind when it comes to making the songs better. It's been an absolute pleasure working with him and I hope we'll be able to do this all over again some day!
Now it's time for me to have some relaxation beers after the hard working week of musical madness… Next week it'll be time for Kaisa (Jouhki - vocals) and Tomi (Mykkänen - vocals) to show what they've got. It'll be good, I promise!!
Maria, with a beer again."
As reported earlier on METALEATER, the working title of the band's new album is "The Last Alliance", which will be mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö. Song titles to be included on the album are "The Last Alliance", "Exile The Daystar", "Daughter Of The Sun", "Third Immortal" and "Voice Of The Fallen".
BATTLELORE are currently in the studio working on their new album, which is currently using the working title The Last Alliance. Guitarist/founder Jyri Vahvanen has issued the following update:
"Yesterday we finished all the drummings for eleven songs. Henri’s playing was quite impressive (as always) and we didn’t face any bigger problems than some broken cymbals. All the new drum arrangements that we made worked very well and made the songs more groovy and bombastic.
Today we started to build up one helluva’ killing guitar sound and it took almost the whole day. The foundation for the sound is Peavey 5150 and 6505+ heads with Mesa Boogie and Marshall cabinets. Also a pile of mysterious little stomp boxes and rack effects with more mystical set ups will lead us right to the source of guitar- sound-heaven. At least we hope so :)
Now it is weekend coming so we hard working musicians have to have our well earned rest and drink a few sauna-beers for the succesful first week in studio!"
Song titles set to be on the album include 'The Last Alliance', 'Exile The Daystar', 'Daughter Of The Sun', 'Third Immortal' and 'Voice Of The Fallen'.
Finnish "fantasy metal" band BATTLELORE has entered Sound Supreme Studios in Hämeenlinna, Finland, with producer Janne Saksa to begin recording its fifth album, tentatively titled "The Last Alliance".
According to the grup, "Within the next four weeks, BATTLELORE will record and choose up to 9-10 songs from their material to be on this fifth voyage through Middle Earth. The album will then be mixed and mastered by the legendary Dan Swanö.
"The new material is bigger, better and more epic with a few surprises such as the use of Tomi's [Mykkanen] clean vocals. The band itself describes the new songs as a beautiful combination of 'Sword's Song' and 'Evernight', where all the typical musical elements of BATTLELORE are combined in a new and also unexpected way.
"Needless to say, the whole band is very enthusiastic and exited to be recording these songs.
"Prepare for the album of a lifetime; this one will not disappoint you!"
