Background
Mainman Nergal was only 14 when he formed Behemoth back in 1991. The three- piece quickly made a name for themselves in the black metal community with their second demo “From The Pagan Wastelands” (1993) and mini album “And The Forests Dream Eternally” (1994).
Behemoth’s first LP “Sventevith (Storming Near The Baltic)” came out through the Polish underground label Pagan Rec. in 1995 and gained a positive response which resulted in a new record deal with the German label Solistitium Rec. Their second album “Grom” saw the light of day in 1996 and remains their most controversial release to date, mainly because of the incorporation of female vocals and acoustic guitars.
The third release “Pandemonic Incantations” saw the addition of the very talented drummer Inferno and marked the band’s vastly improved musicianship and production. In the fall of 1998, after an extensive European tour, Behemoth signed to the Italian label Avantgarde Music. With the highly successful “Satanica” (1999), the group ventured into the realm of death metal by replacing the raspy black metal screeches with a forceful growl. Thanks to this remarkable release and the attention it gained, Behemoth secured two European tours with Deicide and Satyricon.
In the years to follow, Behemoth maintained the same pace by releasing a consistent string of intense album, which further combined their early black metal influences with the ferocity and technicality of death metal. With “Thelema.6” (2000) the band continued to expand musically and lyrically. Vocalist and lyricist Nergal was aided by poet Krzysztof Azarewicz in his efforts to achieve a sophisticated and intimate obscurity. “Thelema.6” was the first of Behemoth’s albums to be released in U.S. through Olympic Records.
Touring opportunities with bands like Nile, Morbid Angel and Carpathian Forest began to pour in. In 2001 the band made its debut at the most prestigious European summer festival- Wacken.
“Zos Kia Cultus (Here And Beyond)” was released in 2003 and furthermore established the band’s undeniable potential and creativity. Rave reviews started to flow in and Behemoth made its North American live debut at the New Jersey March Metal Meltdown festival. The several nationwide tours that followed ( with bands like Deicide, Amon Amarth, Danzig and Six Feet Under) and the release of the Conjugation EP, all helped make 2003 a breakthrough year for Behemoth.
In 2004 they released a DVD called Crush.Fukk.Create, followed by their latest studio album “Demigod” ( featuring guest appearance by Nile’s Karl Sanders). Again, it received great praise in the media. In addition, the group’s first video “Conquer All” debuted on Headbandger’s Ball.
In early 2005, Behemoth embarked on an extensive North American tour with Suffocation, King Diamond and Nile.

Polish black metallers BEHEMOTH have been confirmed for the upcoming KING DIAMOND/NILE/THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER tour happening in April of 2005. The tour follows their January/February co-headlining run with SUFFOCATION. Here's what Nergal (guitars/vocals) had to say:
Hey f(r)iends! We’re touring Europe right now with INCANTATION and KRISUIN in support of our brand new record, 'Demigod'. The new songs have been sounding great live and we can’t wait to play them for our U.S. fans! It seems we will be conquering North America a few times next year; I have just gotten the confirmation for the KING DIAMOND/NILE tour. All I have to say is this is my dream line up! Playing before living legends such as the KING and NILE is more than an honor! We hope to see you all soon! HORNS UP!"
Behemoth Singer Issues An Update From The Road
BEHEMOTH's mainman Nergal has issued the following update regarding their European tour that kicked off a week ago in the Netherlands:
"Hey all there! I'm proud to say that the tour is moving on with no bigger problems. We've just done London which was simply great. It seems like playing this city is like playing Warsaw, ha ha...thank u friends for showing up. Dublin...well, I wish the show itself could have been better...many stage problems pissed us off from the moment we stepped on the stage but the crowd didn't care much. They went totally nuts...it was a blast! Many Polish friends made this evening a very memorable...then Manchester...I must say I am SOOOO sorry bout canceling this show. We've never played there before and we were really looking forward to it. But the whole situation sucked from the very beginning. I wish people could understand that we also have our demands and when they face totally amateurish promoters, it may end like this. We had no other choice than leave. Nijmigeen, Holland was fuckin killer...and it seems like all Dutch venues we blast in that tour. I love that country...thank u all out there for your support and all the promoters for professional work. we WILL be back as soon we can! That is a promise!"

Behemoth Complete Work On Demigod
Polish black metal outfit Behemoth have completed work on their new album, "Demigod", for a fall release. The group's frontman Nergal has just finished mixing the album at Dug-Out studios in Uppsala, Sweden with Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames). Mastering duties were handled at the Cutting Room studios in Stockholm.
Commented Nergal: "Working with Daniel was awesome. Things went pretty smooth and we completed all the mixes within two weeks. It seems like this move was essential for us... The sound has never been so intense and fresh. Bergstrand brought a lot of new ideas into our music and I'm more than sure that 'Demigod' gained a new dimension. It was so much vital and necessary to have someone else involved in the production process than ourselves. It's great to work with somebody who has great experience and knows how to deal with the band like ours. I mean...this guy has worked with [some] of the biggest extreme metal bands around like Meshuggah, Strapping Young Lad or In Flames. I think it speaks for itself... "
He added: "It's the new beginning for us. 'Demigod', with all its might and splendor, rises above anything we've done before...Don't get me wrong. I love our previous works, but with this record, it feels like we've been locked in a dark room all this time, and now we came out and saw the light...I believe we achieved the best song writing and best production we could. Having such a great and supporting labels behind our back let us release new creativity and make something we haven't done before. In my opinion 'Demigod' is a way more extreme record than 'Zos Kia Cultus' but on the other hand it contains more classic influences...more eerie harmonies and catchiness. It's still difficult for me to get a right distance to this album as I've been working on it for last few months with no break and no rest. It still surprises me where all this enthusiasm comes from after all the energy I spent on this record ha ha..."

Behemoth Album To Feature Nile Leader
Karl Sanders, guitarist and vocalist from American death metallers NILE has recorded a guest solo for the song 'Xul' off of BEHEMOTH's forthcoming record, Demigod. The album is still being recorded at Hendrix Studios (in Lublin, Poland) and soon we'll be mixed in Dug Out Studios in Uppsala, Sweden by Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames, Strapping Young Lad).
Behemoth guitarist/vocalist Nergal commented:
"I've known Karl and all the guys in Nile for quite a few years now. Whenever we cross paths we always have a great time and get along really well. Moreover, I've always been totally astonished by their great works, precision, devotion and unquestionable originality. When I asked Karl, if he'd like to put some solo on the album, the reaction was very enthusiastic. It was a really quick job. I handed him a rough mix of the song and next night I found this great lead part in my email box. It sounded TERRIFIC! I'm more than happy about the fact of his contribution. Thank You Karl for such an excellent gift! It is an honor!"More...
Behemoth Studio Update
Polish black metal outfit BEHEMOTH are putting the finishing touches on their much-anticipated new record, "Demigod", tentatively scheduled for an October release. Frontman Nergal checked in with the following update:
"Hi all out there! Guess some of you are hungry for news. First of all, the whole recording process takes more time than we have expected. It’s due to our incredibly high demands towards our possibilities. We try to bring out the best of the potential we have, in order to make the most challenging work to date. We've just completed laying down bass tracks and the right-channel guitar tracks. In the meantime, I also do some vocals here and there. It looks like it’s gonna be the most aggressive and intense vocal work I've ever done. Soon I will be joined by guitarist Seth, and we’ll start working on solos...”More...

News On Upcoming Behemoth DVD
Polish Black metal fiends BEHEMOTH have posted the following update: “We've been working in E-Media Studio for one week now, on the stuff for our upcoming DVD (Regain Records). It's gonna be fully entertaining release, I can assure you. Before we entered the studio and started mixing all the shots, I had spent a couple of weeks on selecting my video archives from the very beginning of Behemoth's history. This double DVD release, entitled Crush.Fukk.Create: Requiem For Generation Armageddon, will include two full length live shows as well as bonus DVD with long interview and tons of extremely crazy stuff from behind the stage! I'm pretty sure that you haven't seen anything like that before... and it's obvious that you have never expected this band to be as insane as it's shown on this DVD!"
Nergal has also issued the following update from E-Media Studio: “In the meantime we are very busy with song writing for our upcoming album, "Demigod" (Regain, Century Media, Mystic). We have 10 songs under making now... some are completed, some are not... anyway, from what we've done so far, I can easily say it will not disappoint anybody, who loved our last three records. Though I really hope that with this new album we'll enter new chapter. We truly count and rely on new contracts we've signed what should positively effect the results so we'll gain more splendor and attention... The recording session starts on the 29th of April. Tracks will be laid down in Hendrix studios in Poland, while mixing will take place in Dug Out in Sweden on the 21st of June. Expect an October release and shortly after, a worldwide touring campaign! IO PAN!"
Behemoth Updates On New Album, 'Demigod'
Polish black/death metallers BEHEMOTH are continuing work on their seventh full-length album, "Demigod", tentatively due in late 2004 through Regain Records (Europe), Century Media (USA and South America) and Mystic (Poland). So far, nine songs have been completed for the follow-up to 2002's "Zos Kia Cultus - Here And Beyond" (Avantgarde), which will be recorded this spring and will feature the lineup of Nergal (guitars and vocals), Inferno (drums), and Seth (bass, guitars).

Behemoth Working On The New Album
The Black metal invaders from Poland BEHEMOTH have already started working on new songs that will appear on their forthcoming album for Regain Reacords( Europe). Current line up is: Nergal- guitars and vocals, Inferno- drums and Seth- bass, guitars.
"2003 was probably the most hard working period in band's history. Especially the US leg of ZOS KIA tour, more than 60 shows that we played, was a breaking point for Behemoth. We took a very short break after last shows, and now we focus totally on writing..."
"I'm very excited about new songs" says Nergal. We've just started working on new songs, and develope ideas and riffs I've been working on for last months. It's just insane, I can tell you. This new stuff is goin to be so much ahead of what we've done before...we've never reached such a point of intensivity. Working title for our 7th album is 'Demigod' and this should tell you everything about what it will sound like. With no doubts it's gonna be the most devastating, technical and crushing record we've ever come up with ! New riffs just flow, the working atmosphere is just perfect...we've got so much new inspiration lately.
It will all have strong impact on what you will hear on "Demigod".
Behemoth is also planning to finally complete mixing of their first Official DVD.
In March they will be playing two shows in Greece with Norwegian CARPATHIAN FOREST. Check them out if you have a chance!
