Australia's Alchemist has issued the following brief update about recording a new EP to be mixed by Devin Townsend:
"Hi people, we have been busy tracking for our 2010 EP to be mixed by Devin Townsend, all is sounding great with a different feel from tripsis, more instrumentation and today I statted tracking some nice harmonic vocals for a track. Keep you guys posted."

In its third year, Melbourne's Hellraiser III Fest has been announced. Featuring a dual-headline of two of Australia's more highly acclaimed Metal acts, Alchemist and Melbourne's Alarum, Hellraiser III is set to present a solid lineup of the best in death metal from across three states and territories, bringing Tasmania's technical death metal unit Mephistopheles (featuring members from Iciclan) as well as Melbourne's Aphotic Dawn and Systematic Genocide. Organiser’s of leading Australian Heavy Metal festival Against The Grain have announced lineup changes to this year’s fifth edition of the fest, which is set to take place on Saturday, September 19.
"Due to unforeseen circumstances Infiltrator will not be taking part in Australia’s biggest metal fest, Against The Grain 5. We apologies to anyone who purchased a ticket just to see Infiltrator, but rest assured the rest of the line up will keep you more than satisfied if your an Infiltrator fan.
"Adelaide’s own Se Bon Kira will be taking their position on the day, news that Adelaide metal fans will be no doubt be happy about. After their highly successful EP launch on July 4th, which saw a packed out Uni-Bar witness Se Bon Kira display a flawless set of raw groove laden thrash, they were the obvious choice to put on the festival and we are very happy that they will be taking part of the festivities."

Australian progressive metal band Alchemist has issued the following update about recording a new album:
"Alchemist are well underway writing what will be there 7th studio Album that we will hopefully record at the end of the year to be ready for shows in Australia, Europe and hopefully New Zealand and Japan.
"The new material is different again, it's earthy, dark, hypnotic & heavy with some exploration with different instrumentation and rhythms."
Progressive Australian metal band ALCHEMIST has premiered their latest video, "Tongues And Knives," online now courtesy of MetalInjection.com. "Tongues And Knives" comes from the band’s newest full-length, "Tripsis."
Having recently completed an Australian tour with MESHUGGAH, ALCHEMIST is currently writing material for their follow-up to "Tripsis." Additional tracks taken from the album can be heard now via the band’s MySpace page.
Progressive Australian metal band ALCHEMIST will team up with MESHUGGAH for a full Australian tour. The tour starts October 12th in Brisbane and will cover Australia’s major markets. A listing of tour dates and cities can be found below.

Australia's ALCHEMIST has announced a number of Australian and European tour dates in support of its recent release "Tripsis". The band will first play a number of Australian dates throughout May followed by a European tour that will include performances at the Hellfest, Graspop Metal Meeting and Waldrock festivals.
ALCHEMIST released "Tripsis" late last year via Chatterbox Records in Australia and internationally via Relapse. Audio samples taken from the album can be heard now via the band's official MySpace page.

Australia’s ALCHEMIST has posted the first preview track, “Nothing In No Time,” from their long-awaited new full-length album Tripsis exclusively at Bravewords.com, the online home to metal magazine Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles. Tripsis will see its North American release on October 2nd (October 8th internationally).
Additionally, ALCHEMIST will embark on a brief European tour upon the release of Tripsis. The two-week tour will include a headlining performance at the legendary Prog Power Festival as well as a live on-air set via Dutch National radio channel KinkFM. Alchemist 's "Tripsis" is due to be released in September on Chatterbox / Relapse.
Alchemist have recently completed work on their upcoming album, Tripsis. Guitarist Adam Agius described the album as “The most consistently heavy album since Spiritech with all the Alchemist trade marks - psychedelic, atmospheric, packed with crushing riffs intertwined guitar melodies and groove. Tripsis is also the fastest album delivered by Alchemist with a few songs taking the Surfthrash sound to new heights.” The album will be released in Australia in mid-July via Chatterbox Records, and will see an international release through Relapse in mid-September. Some track titles from Tripsis include “Wrapped in Guilt”, “Degenerative Breeding”, “Grasp The Air”, “Substance for Shadow”, and “Tongues and Knifes”.
On July 21st, Alchemist will set off on a tour of Australia and New Zealand supporting the release of Tripsis, which will continue through to late August . The tour will start with an appearance at the first ever Abducted Metal fest (more info here) with a bunch of other big-name Australian metal and rock acts. Following this tour, the band will head through Europe in October, and that tour will begin with a headlining gig at the Prog Power fest in the Netherlands. The first ever Abducted Metal and Horror Festival has been announced, and will be held at the Arena in Brisbane on the 21st of July, with doors opening at 5pm. Twenty bands, including some of the best coming out of Australia right now, will play across three stages, and the festival will also feature horror cinema, gothic dance and the launch of the new DVDzine 'Up-Skirt'. Tickets are available from the Arena, Oztix, Skinny, and Rocking Horse, and more information on the festival can be found at this location. The line-up for the festival is as follows:

ALCHEMIST from down-under Australia will come back to Europe again and returns to ProgPower Europe to headline the event on Saturday, October 6. The band is really looking forward to this, their performance on ProgPower Europe 2004 was one of the highlights of their European trip. The band will do a European tour to promote the new album that will see daylight around August/September, it probably will be the only Dutch gig because the band wants to visit some other countries than they did last time.
Spanish newcomers NAHEMAH are also confirmed for ProgPower Europe 2007, the band also will play on the 6th as well. NAHEMAH recently impressed many people with their debut album “The Second Philosophy”, the band is compared to OPETH but with an own style.

Australian psychedelic metal band ALCHEMIST has posted the following update on its official web site:
"We have been writing solidly for what feels like an eternity but it's really coming together now. It's definitely going to be a different record to the rest, possibly the punchiest since 'Lunasphere' / 'Spiritech'  era. The overall vibe is less cut and dry heavy soft bits and integrated - heavy - psychedelia - driving - trippy mind melt moments!

"The last Metal for the Brain festival will be held on Saturday, November 4th, 2006 at the University of Canberra Refectory. This is the last planned ALCHEMIST show for 2006 and will mark the 15th anniversary of the original show and the final instalment as an annual Australian metal event! This year's show will be huge!"
ALCHEMIST's fifth studio album, "Austral Alien", was released in May 2003 through Chatterbox Records in Australia and Relapse Records in the rest of the world.
Metal For The Brain is an Australian benefit concert for the National Brain Injury Foundation and victim of brain injury, Alec Hurley. It spans three stages, 13 hours, more than 40 Aussie metal bands, and tickets are available from Ticketek for 60 Dollars, all ages. Over 18's must bring their ID to access the bar area and drink. Alcohol will not be permitted to be brought into the venue.
This year's Metal For The Brain Tour tentative line-up and set times have been officially announced. The tour has also launched a full website with more information at this location and an official forum, which was just recently launched itself. The announcement also divulged that this is to be the last ever Metal For The Brain tour, so get ready for this show to go out with an Earth-shattering 'bang'. The tour is scheduled for November 4th, at the University of Canberra Refectory.
