Cytotoxin Announces "Gammageddon"

During the night of April 26th, 1986, a world-changing accident occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine. A catastrophic meltdown befell Reactor No. 4, resulting in core explosions and open-air fires. Copious quantities of radioactive materials and airborne isotopes were consequently dispersed into the atmosphere and surrounding lands.

The disaster has been widely regarded as the worst accident in the history of nuclear power globally. As a result, Reactor No. 4 was destroyed and is being enclosed in a concrete and lead sarcophagus to prevent further escape of radioactivity. Large areas of Europe were affected by the accident, with the radioactive cloud spreading as far as Norway.

Moved by devastating consequences of the event, a German band called Cytotoxin pulverized the death metal world with its formation in 2010. Fast forward to today and its time for "Gammageddon." Captured earlier this year again at Kohlekeller Studios, "Gammageddon" centers itself on the city of Pripyat. Named after the nearby Pripyat River, the city was founded on February 1970 as the ninth nuclear city -- a type of closed city -- in the Soviet Union, to serve the nearby Chernobyl plant.

It was officially proclaimed a city in 1979, and had grown to a population of nearly 50,000 by the time it was evacuated the day after the Chernobyl disaster. The city is now a ghost town, and "Gammageddon" serves as a soundtrack to the horrors leading to the evacuation with its unadulterated technical extremity. More...

Cytotoxin Cancels Upcoming Shows

Cytotoxin has issued the following statement about canceling upcoming live shows due to the band's guitarist experiencing a health issue:

"Hi people! Unfortunately I have to inform you about an issue that influences my guitar playing. Since about a year I increasingly developed a problem with my right hand (picking hand) and after a lot of research on the internet and also a couple of visits of several doctors I finally was diagnosed with focal dystonia.

"What this exactly is will be hard to explain to non-affected people. Basically it’s a quite seldom neurological task specific movement disorder. Because of that it’s nearly impossible for me to play techniques like alternate picking, palm muting or sweep picking any more. You can get a more detailed information of focal dystonia right here.

"I believe I owe to explain the circumstances to our fans. We thought about telling you the whole thing for a long time. We decided to make truth public since we don’t want to affront you in any way. We really appreciate all of you for what you’ve done for us and we will always be thankful for your eternal support!

"Within the last rehearsals we noticed more and more that we can’t keep up our live performance standard any longer with of my disorder. Because of that we had to make another hard decision which is to cancel a few shows in the near future. I’m sure that things won’t get better if I keep on playing those new songs which are very challenging for my right hand at the time. You may wonder how I’m planning to overcome this… More...

Cytotoxin Signs To Unique Leader Records

Unique Leader Records has issued the following announcement about signing a deal with Cytotoxin:

"The Chernobyl disaster was a catastrophic nuclear accident that occurred on 26 April 1986 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine. Inspired by this catastrophe and its consequences a highly radiated newcomer band called Cytotoxin simply pulverized the German Brutal Death Metal Underground in 2010.

"Always on an exalted technical level but still keeping one eye on songwriting and heavy pounding neck breaker riffs they formed a deadly mixture. Combined with unique and bulldozing live performances their fan base increased rapidly.

"In April 2011 the band released their self produced full length album 'Plutonium Heaven' that with its opening track 'React or Recede' crushed the web community on several platforms. With their burning ambition the band kept on working very hard fine tuning their skills. Only one year later they entered Kohlekeller Studios (Benighted, Powerwolf…) to forge their new extremely contaminated second album 'RADIOPHOBIA' coming out on Unique Leader Records November 6th, 2012. Ready to conquer the world with their new weapon you better keep your gasmask at hand…" More...
