Iceland's Angist has checked in with the following 2012 recap and announcement about releasing a new album:
"Wauw this year passed quickly! After a relatively relaxed start of the year 2012 the year progressed into a great one. Even though we didn’t put out a release this year we played so many great shows, grew in our live performances and laid down the foundation of bigger things.
"We are so thankful for all of our great friends and fans who gave our music a chance and supported us by buying our music, shirts or coming to show, we have nothing but profound gratitude and respect for you guys!
"Also all the reporters who interviewed us this year and helping us spread the word of Angist, thank you. We can’t believe all the different countries who are giving us a time of their day, megatron!
"Definitely a highlight for us was signing with ABYSS RECORDS and our full length will be released with them in 2013. So exciting! This short year sum up cannot be finished without thanking the true metal warlords in Skálmöld for inviting us to play with them again and again, Iceland Airwaves Music Festival, Daniel Ferguson, master José Carlos Santos, our partners in crime Blood Feud and all the people who helped making this year another spectacular one!
"So with our title song from our 2011 EP, Circle of Suffering, we say: GLEÐILEGT SÍTT HÁR!!!" More...
Icelandic extreme death metal act Angist has signed with Abyss Records. The band's self-released five-track EP, "Circle of Suffering," was made available for the first time in North America by Abyss Records this summer and was recorded, mixed & mastered by Wann at Emissary Studio. Abyss Records will release the band's full-length debut in the near future.
Angist released their two song demo in summer 2010 and within a year they had been given the opportunity to play several high profile shows such as Iceland Airwaves and as the opening act for Heaven Shall Burn and L'esprit du Clan. Angist placed second in the Wacken Metal Battle (Icelandic log). The band then toured around France as an opening act for L'esprit du Clan in support of the EP. Live footage of the band playing "Death Incarnate" can be viewed below.
