Bloodstock Adds A New Slew Of Bands

The Sun is shining and Bloodstock is excited to announce seven more of metal’s finest for the UK’s heaviest weekender, including a clutch of bands from the farthest flung corners of the globe.

Friday’s line up will now include extreme prog metal Aussies, Ne Obliviscaris. The band proclaims, “UK, here we come! 2015 is the year we are finally going to reach your shores and we couldn’t be more excited to announce that it will be as part of the enormous Bloodstodck festival. We’re looking forward to playing alongside many of the best and biggest heavy acts from across the world!”

Saturday’s bill sees two bands who’ve jetted in from Indonesia, a hotbed of metal and one of the planet’s most burgeoning heavy music scenes. Burgerkill and Jasad are two of the country’s biggest metal acts, even counting the country’s metal-loving prime minister, Joko Widodo among their fans.

Sunday’s line-up sees a very special solo set from ex-Evile shredsman, Ol Drake to accompany his upcoming solo album, "Old Rake" which is out in June via Earache. Ol comments "I'm very excited to be returning to Bloodstock in a musical capacity. The weekend is fully booked off work (I was going anyway) and we're rehearsing right now. It’ll be a very special show, so don’t miss it. I’ll no doubt be having my fair share of drinks and Jagermeister afterwards and no doubt be returning to work feeling buzzed yet terrible. This is probably the only show I'll be doing to promote the album. Hope to see you there!" More...

See you down the front!”

Five More Bands Confirmed For Bloodstock

Hot on the heels of last week’s five band announcement, the Bloodstock Festival is excited to reveal five more acts.

First up is British outfit Lawnmower Deth, confirmed for the Sophie Lancaster Stage on Sunday. The band comments: “Motorbonce famously said, ‘if we move in next door, your lawn will die.’ Quite what positioned our forefathers to even remotely claim knowledge of horticultural metal is well beyond us. Scott Ian famously said, ‘I am the law’. In fact, this simply proves that adult literacy levels within the metal genre are in line with that of the national average; quite shit, when he clearly cannot spell and meant LAWN. In a Nostradamus kind of way what these two legends of metal were pointing you to was... 'Bloodstock 2015, when we move in you will die happy, we are Lawnmower and we is well excited. Let’s party like it’s 1988.'"

Taking over the Sophie Stage on Friday are raucous Brighton noisemakers Oaf. Chief bellower Dom Lawson exclaims, "We, the mighty Oaf, are honoured and delighted to have been invited back to our favourite festival. If you saw us in 2013, please don't hold that against us. Do come along and observe our ongoing descent into senility. If you haven't seen us before, we're like a middle-aged Royal Blood for people that don't wet the bed (and with added swearing). This will be a splendid occasion and we're tumescent with joy at the very thought of it. Cheers!"

Liverpudlian black metallers Ethereal will join the fray on the Sophie Stage on Saturday. The band is currently doing a stint with Marduk and Belphegor, supporting first full-length album "Opus Aethereum," released last month by Candlelight Records.

Sunday brings symphonic black metallers Saille all the way from Belgium to the Sophie Lancaster Stage. Expect to hear some new songs from latest, third album "Eldritch." Bringing the mischief and mayhem on Friday to the Sophie Stage, are Dirty Sanchez lads Pritchard Vs Dainton.

The currently announced lineup is:

Ronnie James Dio Stage

Rob Zombie, Trivium, Within Temptation. Opeth, Sabaton, Black Label Society, Sepultura, Cannibal Corpse, Ihsahn, Orange Goblin, Death DTA, Nuclear Assault, 1349, Dark Angel, Armored Saint, Belphegor, Overkill, Ensiferum, Agalloch, Enslaved, Pro Pain, Korpiklaani, Wolf, Napalm Death

Sophie Lanaster Stage

Delain, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Godflesh, Batallion, Mordred, Destrage, Onslaught, Conan, Planet Of Zues, Bast, Lawnmower Deth, Oaf, Ethereal, Saille, Pritchard Vs Dainton More...

Agalloch Plays 2.5 Hour Set of Classics in Austin

Agalloch has taken its listeners on a voyage over various soundscapes ever since their 1999 debut “Pale Folklore.” Lengthy tracks paint audio pictures of biting winds, snow-capped mountains, bubbling brooks, crackling fire places, placid pools of self-reflection, cold apparitions, the Northern Lights and so much more. Their songs convey a wide range of moods, bright and cheerful, calming white or grey with melancholy. The group needs a long set and stage props to create an authentic Agalloch concert.

When Agalloch last appeared in Austin for SXSW 2011 the group left many of their fans disappointed or at least with mixed emotions. They played a short set of mostly newer material, and their stage presented little in terms of atmosphere. Even front man John Haughm commented on how the SXSW show was less than satisfactory. Many of us had waited years, even a decade to see a rare appearance by the band, so in some ways, we were happy just to have seen the band. Still, many went away having not heard their favorite songs. Agalloch’s return to Austin, this time at Red 7, delivered the type of Agalloch performance we hoped and expected. Their 2.5 hour performance featured choice cuts throughout their career. Additionally, they offered a stage show that tantalized the senses. More...

Agalloch Streaming New 21 Minute Track

Agalloch will be releasing the new 21 minute EP "Fuastian Echoes," consisting of only one song, in conjunction with the band's upcoming North American tour kicking off next month. The entire track is now available online for streaming via Bandcamp or in the player available below.

Agalloch also commented on the EP and tour: "This tour will mark the release of our recently recorded EP 'Faustian Echoes' on both LP and CD. We have taken great care in the design of this release. Sometime before the tour we will have both a streaming and digital download option available. However, the LP and CD versions will only be available at the shows during the dates on the tour and will be available via mail order after the tour. We will be adding material (both new and old) to our set list and depending on stage time we anticipate playing between 90-120 minutes. The set will rotate each night.

"We have carefully selected local openers whose music fits the environment of an Agalloch show. Where there are no openers selected, we will play nearly 120 minutes. We are all personal fans of the openers and encourage everyone to show up early to see them. We will have a variety of merchandise for sale including: 2 new shirt designs, our back catalog, 'The Demonstration Archive,' 'Marrow of the Spirit' vinyl, a tour poster by Stevie Floyd, original photographic prints by Veleda Thorsson, and various other odds and ends.”
