French progressive symphonic metal act Adagio will return with the new album "Life," the first release since the 2009 effort "Archangels in Black." The band created its own label under guitarist/composer Stephan Forte called Zeta Nemesis and is now set to launch a crowdfunding preorder campaign via Indigogo on May 5th.
The band recently added violinist Mayline (Indensity), but has not yet announced a new vocalist.
As for the upcoming campaign, the band posted the following message and video clip:
"You Are The Label!
"Since the beginning of our career, like most bands, Adagio has been working with third party record labels. Today, after a successful test with Stéphan’s 2nd solo album 'Enigma Opera Black,' we have decided to sign Adagio and release our fifth album 'LIFE' along with the band’s back catalogue ('Archangels in Black' excepted) through Stéphan’s label Zeta Nemesis. The Zeta Nemesis team will fully handle publishing, management, merchandising, PR, Marketing, graphic design, web design, physical and digital distribution duties internally.
"Now, to do things correctly, releasing music internationally requires a huge investment (approximately 50.000 Euros). For a young label such as Zeta Nemesis, without the backing of any investors, it’s almost impossible to obtain the funds required to release 'LIFE' properly.
"So we’ve been thinking, and realized the most obvious fact ever! Who are the buyers? The fans. So, why should we ask anyone besides the fans for an advance?
"Zeta Nemesis has already financed half of the costs, approximately 25.000 Euros. To cover the second half of these expenses and release this new Adagio album under the best possible circumstances, we need your support.
"In exchange, not only will you be able to preorder the new Adagio album, but since the label is now the band, we have some fantastic and rare Adagio items to offer you!
"So get ready to be part of Adagio and see you on Indiegogo on May 5!" More...

"FIREWIND commented: 'Today we are in the unfortunate position to announce that Apollo has decided to step down permanently from the vocal duties in FIREWIND. For the past few years it was evident that Apollo could not keep up with FIREWIND’s ever growing and demanding touring & promotional schedule. Several times we've had to recruit replacements in order to continue touring the world and keep playing for our fans. We're lucky enough to have worked with some of the best Metal singers out there!'
"Although we're sad to announce Apollo's departure and we sure will miss him, at the same time we feel that the show must go on! FIREWIND is a band that has gone thru lots of ups and downs the past 10 years, but is still going strong!
"With that said, we're happy to announce that Kelly Sundown Carpenter (Adagio, Beyond Twilight, Darkology) will be singing for us on the upcoming N. American tour with Turisas! This guy's a phenomenal singer and we can't wait to get out there and Rock! We're looking forward to our return in America. See you all soon!" More...

Adagio has issued the following update regarding the progress of Adagio's fifth album:
"Stéphan Forté, Kevin Codfert and Mats Levén, are at the moment working on the composition of Adagio's fifth album at Kevin's XFade studio in Nanterre (France."
"Stéphan: Hey everyone, here's some great news! I'm at the moment at Kevin's studio working on the composition of Adagio's upcoming album, and for the first time, I will not compose the whole music and lyrics alone, as Mats, Kevin and the guys will also collaborate to the writing !! It will definitely bring a fresher sound to the band, and so far, the experience is awesome. Mats arrived here on Sunday, and we've started working right away on some ideas. Lots of great melodic vocal lines, heavy riffing and intense piano parts are coming naturally, so that's a very positive start... Another big change, is since I've down tuned my Lâg 7 string to A for my solo album, I am now using that for Adagio's new stuff as well, so be prepared for some really heavy shit."
