Battleground Records has brought Phoenix, Arizona-based death metal collective Lago into its expanding label roster for the release of the band's upcoming debut album late in the 2014 Summer months. The label comments:
"Heavily influenced by the past, yet with eyes set firmly on the future, LAGO cites Morbid Angel, Decapitated, Aeon and Emperor as influences. The band was founded in January 2010 by guitarist and vocalist Cole Jacobsen, drummer Shawn Reiterman, and lead guitarist Manuel Dominguez.
"Upon completing the lineup with bassist and backing vocalist Garrett Thomas, the band released their first EP, Marianas, on Pale Horse Records to critical acclaim in November 2010. Changes to the lineup occurred throughout 2011 and early 2012, beginning with the departure of Manuel Dominguez.
"After a brief search for a replacement member, the band recruited Andrew Breshears of fellow Phoenix band Excessive Bleeding into the fold. Upon Shawn Reiterman leaving the group, LAGO briefly brought in Six Million Dead skinsman Helbert Trejo, and once he departed, the band welcomed Brian Miller, formerly of Deadspawn, into the family. Having since released a two-song demo in December 2012, and after welcoming Manuel Domminguez back into the fold in October of 2013, the band is set to release their debut full-length, entitled Tyranny, through Battleground Records. Arizona death metallers Lago have just released a new demo entitled "Tyranny." This new demo is the follow up to the band's 2010 debut EP "Marianas," which was released on Pale Horse Recordings.
"Tyranny" consists of two songs and is a taste of the more matured, brutal, and calculating death metal compared to the "Marianas" EP. The main driving force behind Lago, Cole Jacobsen and Andrew Breshears, comment:
"Tyranny is just the next step in what Lago wants to achieve. It's a very focused, in your face, balls to the wall style of old school death metal. There is no over the top 'I bet you can't play this' riffing going on that will lose you. We're still doing what we do best. The harsh in your face death metal approach combined with a dark black metal melody. It's our goal to make sure every song has a life and a story of its own. Lago now has a strong and steady line up ready to put out our debut LP, to deliver our music up close and personal to death metal fans everywhere."
Check out the tracks below. The "Tyranny" demo was recorded at Arcane Digital Recordings (Exhumed, Phobia, Landmine Marathon) in November of 2012. Lago will be hitting the studio in late Spring to record a debut full length. More...
