Malevolence Premieres New Album's Title Track

Portugal's Malevolence will be back on November 22nd, 2013 with "Antithetical," a brand new studio album.

"Antithetical" is the follow-up to 1999’s "Martyrialized" that was recorded in Fredman Studio by Fredrik Nordstrom.

Malevolence feels that "Antithetical" will surpass the previous album, stating, "We are at a creative peak right now, and Antithetical as an album reflects that. Everything from the production, to the writing, to the performances are a step up from our last album."

Today we are pleased to bring you the U.S. exclusive premiere of the album's title track, which can be heard below. The band comments: “Antithetical is one of our most forward thinking songs. We explored and enhanced the contrast between elements from the progressive and the extreme metal fields to add another perspective to the whole album.”

While this is a slow burn of a track that builds up to the metal insanity, you can also hear the more frantically paced songs "Devoured Unlimited" and "Slithering" off the upcoming album.

The "Antithetical" album was produced by Carlos Cariano and recorded in 20M2SEA Studio by Paulo Pereira in Portugal. Mixed and mastered at Woodshed Studio by V. Santura (Triptykon, Pestilence), the album includes drummer extraordinaire Dirk Verbeuren (Soilwork, Devin Townsend).

"Working with Malevolence was extremely challenging, but in the end the album turned out great,” said V. Santura. “I especially like the overall aggressivity and those few, but very delicate industrial elements - Quite special!" More...

Portugal's Malevolence is pressing forward with "Devoured Unlimited," the second single taken from the band's upcoming third album "Antithetical." Check out the track below. Malevolence also had this to say about the clip:

“We wanted to go further by exploring additional ways to present our music. The concept this time is based in a raw model script build up by our singer & vocalist Carlos Cariano. The visual background inspired in a straight line by the script was designed by KKSTRUCTURES while the final PROJEKT assemblage was generated by our long time teammate Eurico Bernardo. We feel very pleased with the outcome and the final results perfectly extrapolate the devastating aura of our brand new single.”

Malevolence Premieres New Music Video "Slithering"

"Slithering," the brand new video from Portuguese extreme progressive metallers Malevolence, sees its exclusive U.S. premiere today through Metalunderground.com (as well as PureGrainAudio for Canada and Arte Sonora for Portugal). The clip was directed by David Barros of 4THERECORDS and can be viewed below.

Carlos commented about the new video: “Slithering was the first single extracted from our impending new album. Decibel Magazine kindly assisted us to make the premiere of the audio episode some weeks ago, helping us in the process to show the song writing diversity on 'Antithetical.' Now we are moving forward and presenting the visual production of our first (ever) music video interrelated with the same song. To achieve that we worked with 4THERECORDS, a young company producing mainly short films and commercials. SLITHERING is their boldest achievement to date and we are truly pleased with the visual quality of our first cooperation with this entity. The support of 4THERECORDS was central and decisive to attain the professional final results."

Considering the alliances used for the video release, Carlos added: “Subsequent to the premiere of 'Slithering' we received rave reviews far and wide. The interest upon 'Antithetical' grows on a daily basis rate. Sharing our video through such professional media, in 3 different countries at the same time means quite something!” More...

Malevolence Unveils "Antithetical" Cover

Portuguese extreme metal act Malevolence has uncovered the artwork for the band's upcoming third full-length effort "Antithetical." Malevolence commented on the KKStructures created imagery:

"By portraying the central album conceptual theme fueled by the art of conflict, KKSTRUCTURES in straight involvement with the band twisted an eye-catching visual parallelism dissecting the antithetical contrasts between the positive and negative extremes.

"Transcending the opposites by mode of individual revelation (summon insurgence) whilst erecting a differing perspective throughout exorcising thesis, the visual mind bending design brings forth in the process the social global context trivialization invoking an upheaval synthesis. The fire combustion epitomizes the universal purification (in need) as an unrelenting way of forward critical thinking."

The follow-up to 1999's "Martyrialized" was written and produced by Carlos Cariano, recorded by
Paulo Pereira at 20M2SEA Studio (Portugal), and mixed and mastered at Woodshed Studio (Germany) by V. Santura (Triptykon, Obscura). More...
