Felix Martin Announces U.S. Tour

Venezuelan 14-string guitarist Felix Martin - who recently completed a six-week, 12-country European tour with his trio - will soon embark on his first-ever American tour, which focuses on the western U.S. and includes four shows in the greater Los Angeles area. Martin will be out in support of his Prosthetic debut “Live in Boston,” which compiles tracks from various live sets recorded during his days as a student at the Berklee School of Music.

Prosthetic Records also commented: "Felix Martin caught the attention of Prosthetic Records with his self-invented instrument, the 14-string guitar, which is a combination of two left-handed 7-string guitars on one wide neck that allows both to be played simultaneously. You can see a live video showcasing his unique sound - a combination of instrumental prog-metal and jazz fusion - by viewing the below video for 'The Triangle Tune' (taken from 'Live In Boston')." Felix Martin Signs With Prosthetic Records

Prosthetic Records has issued the following announcement about inking a deal with Felix Martin:

"Prosthetic Records is proud to announce the signing of Venezuelan guitarist Felix Martin. A graduate of the prestigious Berklee School of Music, Martin writes and performs an eclectic, exhilarating hybrid of instrumental prog-metal, jazz, fusion and world music on an instrument he invented himself – the 14-string guitar. His creation combines two left-handed 7-string guitars on one wide neck that allows him to play both guitars simultaneously, allowing for his unique system of 8-finger chords and slap-tapping techniques."

Martin commented on signing to Prosthetic by stating the following: “For me, the most important concepts in music (and life) are innovation and creativity. Prosthetic is one of the very few labels that works with artists who have unique visions of music, and who offer something different to the world. I can’t be more thankful with Prosthetic for supporting my vision and letting me be myself.”

Martin's Prosthetic debut, “Live in Boston,” will be released across digital platforms on June 5th. Physical copies are available for pre-order now at this location. The album, which features Guitar Center Drum-Off 2011 Champion JP Bouvet on several tracks, includes material from Martin's self-released debut, “Bizarre Rejection,” a handful of songs from his forthcoming studio album, and two tracks exclusive to this release.

Guitarworld.com has exclusively premiered a live video for the track “The Triangle Tune,” which can be seen here. The song, which sees Martin backed by Bouvet and fellow Berklee alumnus Kilian Duarte, will also be included on Martin's as-yet-untitled sophomore album, which will feature Berklee alum Nathan Navarro (bass) and acclaimed drummer Marco Minnemann (Necrophagist, Steven Wilson, The Aristocrats). More information on that release will be revealed in the coming months.

Today, Martin embarks on a 7-week European tour, which will see his trio play a mixture of clinics and "traditional" concerts. More...
