June 2nd, 2017 will mark the release of Tengger Cavalry's upcoming full-length album, "Die On My Ride." Now the band is thrilled to announce that just a day after album drops, a 25+ date North American headline tour will kick off featuring support from Venezuelan world music/progressive fusion guitarist Felix Martin and pagan folk metal group Helsott.
The tour will begin in Montreal, QC on June 3rd and visits several other major Canadian and U.S. cities before coming to an end on July 8th in Manchester, NH (Helsott will appear June 18th - June 27th). See below for a full listing of dates.
Tengger Cavalry frontman Nature G states: "After so many months off the road, hours and hours of recording in the studio and many intense rehearsals, we are so excited to finally hit the road and raid with Felix Martin and Helsott! Helsott is amazing - they play European-influenced pagan folk metal, and Felix Martin is an absolutely skillful progressive-influenced metal/rock act. We're stoked to play many songs from our brand new album and also to have these awesome fellow world/folk music artists out with us!" More...
Modern progressive/world fusion guitarist Felix Martin drops his 15-track full-length album, "Mechanical Nations," today. In celebration of today's release, a guitar playthrough video for the new track "Cosmo Basket" comes online.
Felix Martin states, "This song is one of my favorites from the album. The intro is a duo between drums and guitar, I'm trying to imitate the sound of the drums by doing heavy percussion with the guitar, playing as heavily as I can.
"The second part is more reminiscent of ambient music, almost like techno and house-inspired in some parts. Then, the last part is more like a prog rock tune. The three parts are really different and it showcases the varying ideas that define the album itself." More...
Berklee-educated modern progressive/world fusion guitarist Felix Martin will release his upcoming 15-track full-length album, "Mechanical Nations," on February 24th, 2017.
As a follow-up to last week's release of "Bom," Martin has revealed an official music video for the track "Flashback" showcasing his bandmates Kilian Duarte (bass) and Victor A. Carracedo (drums) with directing by Matt Zane.
"I wanted this song to sound like thunder, fast cars, flashes... really fast stuff, that sort of thing. The idea came to me after a really stressful day in Los Angeles," says Martin. "All of the traffic congestion and warm weather, and then the relief I felt when I got home. I wrote almost the whole song right as I returned home that day. For this video, we wanted to have the band play around bright lights and flashes, as it reflects the mood of the track."
He continues, "Musically, I wanted to have a really heavy sounding guitar without using distortion. The whole thing is played using chords with percussion, always keeping a groove going and clean tones with flashy delays. This song is very band-based, where we are all playing the same thing, as we were all part of a rhythm section." More...
Felix Martin recently announced details regarding his upcoming 15-track full-length album, "Mechanical Nations," due out February 24th, 2017. Today Martin is revealing a brand new track, "Bom," which can be heard below.
"For this song, I wanted to see drums and guitar as one instrument, writing grooves for both instruments in a way that would make sense," says Martin. "This was the very first song I wrote using this guitar you see in the video (FM-907), which is a 9-string and a 7-string together, making it a guitar with 16-strings in one wide neck. I wanted to add that low 9-string open string (which is the lowest note I could possibly play) in a way that would sound heavy and big. I do this by slapping the guitar with my hand open."
He continues, "This song came to me after listening to a lot of industrial, prog and nu-metal music. It's influenced by the band Planet X with a bit of industrial vibe from Nine Inch Nails mostly at the middle, then a general electronic vibe in the interlude. I think Primus influenced this track too." More...
Berklee-trained guitarist and modern progressive/world fusion pioneer Felix Martin first teased the release of his upcoming full-length album late last year. Today, Martin is pleased to reveal the title for his new album, "Mechanical Nations," as well as the official art, track listing and pre-orders.
"Mechanical Nations" will hit stores on February 24th, 2017 and is available for pre-order now at this location. The album was self-produced by Felix Martin and mixed with Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me). Martin details the motivations behind the musical content and culturally-inspired artwork for "Mechanical Nations" (actually hand-painted by his mother, Soraya Martin):
"The artwork represents South America mechanized. Many of the songs on this album are inspired by South American traditional melodies and inspired by locations that were then mechanized so to say, in a progressive format. 'Barquisimetal' is a good example - it is a place in Venezuela that inspired melodies and the landscape brought out that creative spark.
"Many South American countries, especially places like Venezuela, are heavily industrial-based economies. The hard work of the people and how it shaped the countries themselves seemed fitting for a progressive rock record. In the background of the artwork, you can see 'Petare,' it's one of the poorest neighborhoods in Caracas, but one of my favorite places in my home country Venezuela." More...
Renowned as an innovator in the world of modern progressive fusion music and guitar design, Berklee alum Felix Martin is back with a 15-track full-length album of brand new music, set to release in February 2017.
Self-produced by Martin and mixed with Jamie King this year, the album will feature compositions that Martin describes as "clean, outside-the-box and inspired by my South American roots."
Martin details the multi-faceted musical style on his new album: "For this album, I challenged myself to write every note original to my own sound and techniques. I tried to create an album that's doesn't sound like a guitar album, but rather like a band playing music that everyone can enjoy - from a metal audience to pop, from jazz to a classical audience - always keeping the technical aspects very present. It took me a year and a half to complete the writing. I spent a lot of time trying out different ideas, I ended up writing about 50 songs, and keeping just 15 for the album."
The currently-untitled album will feature artwork also inspired by Martin's South American roots, set to be revealed soon. He continues, "A significant portion of the album was written in Venezuela, so I wanted to reflect that in the artwork."
Stay tuned for full album details. This November in anticipation of the upcoming release, Martin will headline a full U.S. tour presented by Gear Gods with special guests The Fine Constant. More...

Prosthetic Records has issued the following announcement about inking a deal with Felix Martin:
"Prosthetic Records is proud to announce the signing of Venezuelan guitarist Felix Martin. Martin commented on signing to Prosthetic by stating the following: “For me, the most important concepts in music (and life) are innovation and creativity. Prosthetic is one of the very few labels that works with artists who have unique visions of music, and who offer something different to the world. I can’t be more thankful with Prosthetic for supporting my vision and letting me be myself.”
