"Last year two death metal bands from two different realms of brutality set out for a four-day mini-tour to expand minds and open a rift to the fourth dimension," relays Cognitive in a collective statement. "Back at it again for ten days, we are beyond excited to set out on the road with Artificial Brain once more. We can't wait to see what Artificial Brain has been working on this past year. Artificial Brain is a band that breaches deep within the recesses of your psyche while simultaneously throwing you into the blackest depths of the celestial abyss. Cognitive Posts "Haunted Justice" Video

"Deformity" is the impending new full-length album from Garden State-based death metal deviants Cognitive.

Set to drop via Unique Leader later this month, the nine-track slab of inexorable brutality was captured at Full Force Studio by Joe Cincotta and mastered at West West Side Studios by Alan Douches. In advance of its release, today an official lyric video to the track "Haunted Justice" comes online.

"'Haunted Justice' is about a town of tortured people attempting to exact their revenge on the witches that have stolen, sacrificed, and consumed their children," elaborates the band. "The only problem is, when you kill the Host body to Pure Evil, you only wind up doing it the favor of releasing it and unleashing true terror onto the world. Give it a listen, read, and learn the lyrics so you can sing with us next time we're in your town. Also, listen closely to the amazing guest spots from Misery Index's very own Mark Kloeppel who absolutely killed the track and brought a visceral sound of hate to life in his performance." More...

Cognitive Releases "Birthing The Deformity" Video

Garden State-based brutal death metal legion (and recent Unique Leader signee) Cognitive will drop the molten bounty of the "Deformity" full-length next month.

Captured at Full Force Studio by Joe Cincotta (Suffocation, Internal Bleeding, Dehumanized) and mastered at West West Side Studios by Alan Douches (Cannibal Corpse, Converge, Black Breath, Mastodon et al), the record offers up nine tracks of sonic repugnance of the highest order.

As a precursor to its release, today an official new video comes online for the track "Birthing The Deformity," shot deep within New Jersey's sprawling Pine Barrens. Vocalist Jorel Hart comments:

"'Birthing The Deformity' describes the nightmare that is the beginning of existence for the great and terrible horror that dwells in the vast and desolate Barrens. We agreed that the best way for us to portray the abominable actions that may have taken place that night was to film in the fabled forest itself." More...

Cognitive Signs With Unique Leader

Garden State death metal faction Cognitive is the latest addition to Unique Leader Records' expanding roster of sonic malevolence. The band will release a new full-length album later this coming fall. Issues Cognitive of this new union with the label:

"It is with extreme pleasure that we announce our signing with Unique Leader Records! It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of the label that many bands have called home such as Deeds Of Flesh, Fallujah, Psycroptic, The Kennedy Veil, Decrepit Birth, Ingested, Inanimate Existence, and so many more! This has been a long journey for us.

"We've gone through vehicle breakdowns, member shifts, two full United States tours, countless week-long-plus tours, Las Vegas Death Fest, Building Temples From Deathfest, and recording our second full-length album all in the last year. We couldn't be more excited to share our newest release with our long-time local fans as well as with the people all around the world who haven't heard us.

"Working with Unique Leader Records is a dream come true from five New Jersey and Philly guys who want nothing more than to make you mosh, hardcore dance, or headbang to the sound of our music. We hope this album will live up to our long standing reputation of brutal death metal!"

Entitled "Deformity," Cognitive's sophomore full-length was recorded at Full Force Studio by Joe Cincotta (Suffocation, Internal Bleeding, Dehumanized) and mastered at West West Side Studios by Alan Douches (Cannibal Corpse, Converge, Black Breath, Mastodon et al), boasting nine tracks of unrepentant heaviness. "With this album, we hope to really bring out the best parts of Cognitive's abilities. We really pushed hard to have a coherent, technical, catchy and well written song structure for all the metal heads out there to enjoy.

"From brutal to progressive to melodic, we tried to insure the signature cognitive sound, with new elements to keep things fresh, we want to move forward, but not forget our roots. that along with Tony Koehl's artwork, we hope to create an experience to all the fans out there musically and visually. This CD will crush, and we will be a very busy band this year with a lot of big news on the way.

NYDM veterans Dehumanized will be heading out on an East Coast mini-tour with NJ's Cognitive. The following press release was issued about the trek:

"Dehumanized recently released 'Controlled Elite' through Comatose Music and is now eagerly awaiting to bring its notorious live energy to the states of New Jersey, Virginia and Delaware. Cognitive's debut EP 'The Horrid Swarm,' while released over a year ago, seems to keep falling into more and more hands as they steamroll their way through the east coast circuit. Cognitive will also be featured on a 7" split with UK’s Corrupt Moral Altar to be released this fall."

The dates are as follows:

08/30: Devlin’s – Atco, NJ

Cognitive Signs With Torture Music

The New Jersey technical death metal outfit Cognitive recently signed to Torture Music Records for the release of an upcoming full-length album, scheduled to hit stores in the latter half of 2013. The label comments:

"Formed in 2011, Cognitive is, despite its young history as a band, already a household name in the underground death metal scene. Having played in 11 states and shared stages with the likes of Macabre, Cattle Decapitation, Waking the Cadaver, and Internal Bleeding, as well as self-released debut EP, 'The Horrid Swarm,' in July 2012, the band shows no signs of slowing down as of winter 2012.

"With their upcoming self-titled full-length, Cognitive will pick up where they left off with 'The Horrid Swarm,' and deliver another release full of unmerciful technicality, pummeling grooves and vicious brutality."

Cognitive also commented, "Thanks to all the fans who have been supporting us this past year! Lets make 2013 even sicker!"
