"As y'all know, I've been very busy with DOWN. But fear not, children of doom. I've been down in Miami writing CROWBAR tunes with [fellow CROWBAR guitarist Steve] Gibb. It's coming along really well, so get ready!! Also get ready for the new KINGDOM OF SORROW [the collaborative project featuring Windstein and HATEBREED frontman Jamey Jasta] CD coming out on Relapse on February 19th. It absolutely crushes!!"

Relapse Records has announce the signing of Jamey Jasta and Kirk Windstein's KINGDOM OF SORROW.
Jasta (HATEBREED, ICEPICK) and Windstein (DOWN, CROWBAR) came together some three years ago to create KINGDOM OF SORROW, and in that time put together an album's worth of crushing American metal. Relapse will give the band's long-awaited debut album its proper worldwide release this coming February.
Commented Jasta: "I can't even begin to explain how excited I am about KINGDOM OF SORROW! There's been two and a half years of questions, rumors and speculation surrounding this and now we can finally move forward! We've signed a worldwide deal with Relapse Records!!! It's an honor. Kirk and I could not be happier, I've always been a big fan of the label."
Jasta continued: "I can't wait for the world to hear this record. It crushes!! I pushed myself to become a better vocalist and wrote and expressed myself lyrically in a totally different way than I have before. Kirk has never sounded better! His tone is like a 747 filled with tar crashing into a lead mountain. We should press this CD on plutonium because it really is that HEAVY. It was so much fun working on this record. There was no other motive than to have fun and make a unique and different record for the both of us while keeping it heavy, mean and rockin! I think everyone is going to be really surprised!"
Windstein added: "We’re just so happy to have this come out…finally! We had a great time putting it together and we’re just so proud of it. Its super heavy, man, it just crushes! Everyone I play it for, their jaws drop. And after three years, it feels good to know now everyone can hear it."

KINGDOM OF SORROW, the new project featuring HATEBREED frontman Jamey Jasta and CROWBAR guitarist/vocalist Kirk Windstein, will resume recording their debut album this weekend at Planet Z studios in Massachusetts with producer Zeuss (HATEBREED, SHADOWS FALL). 13 tracks plus a cover of MOTÖRHEAD's "No Class" are being recorded for the effort, which is tentatively due in early 2006 through an as-yet-undisclosed label. A short audio preview of the upcoming CD is available at the band's newly launched official web site.
Jasta had previously stated about the KINGDOM OF SORROW debut, "This is seriously going to blow people's minds! Steve Gibb from CROWBAR (formerly of BLACK LABEL SOCIETY) [flew] up from Miami to rip some solos and leads on a few tracks. We are also going to have two INSANE guest appearances that will definitely shock and excite people. . . Kirk is singing with me as well as playing the bass and guitar on the album, and we have both been writing and bringing ideas to the table. It's been killer!"
Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta and Crowbar guitarist/vocalist Kirk Windstein have set "Kingdom of Sorrow" as the name of their collaborative project. The group's debut album, which is currently being recorded at at Planet Z studios in Massachusetts with producer Zeuss (Hatebreed, Shadows Fall) is "almost complete and it is the most pummeling slab of metal we've ever been a part of," says Jasta. "This is seriously going to blow people's minds! We have recorded 13 tracks plus a cover of Motorhead's "No Class". Steve Gibb from Crowbar (formerly of Black Label Society) has just flown up from Miami to rip some solos and leads on a few tracks. We are also going to have two INSANE guest appearances that will definitely shock and excite people. . . Kirk is singing with me as well as playing the bass and guitar on the album, and we have both been writing and bringing ideas to the table. It's been killer!"
In a recent interview with Metal Maniacs magazine, EYEHATEGOD/SUPERJOINT RITUAL guitarist and DOWN drummer Jimmy Bower revealed that he is "sure we'll do another DOWN record. I've talked to Phil [Anselmo, DOWN/SUPERJOINT RITUAL/ex-PANTERA frontman] and everybody else. Everybody's expressed interest in wanting to do a DOWN record, so that's basically all it takes. Hopefully within the next year or two that can happen. DOWN records are fun. Phil's doing a lot better as far as handling [Dimebag's death]. It's been a big wake-up call for a lot of people over the the last five, six months. People are doing cool things with their lives; cool, positive things. Let's save metal!"
DOWN is the New Orleans "supergroup" featuring Anselmo, Bower, Pepper Keenan (guitars, C.O.C.), Rex Brown (bass, ex-PANTERA) and Kirk Windstein (guitars, CROWBAR). The band's sophomore album, "Down II", was released in March 2002 on Elektra Records.
Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta and Crowbar guitarist/vocalist Kirk Windstein are currently in the studio recording the first album from their collaborative project, which is presently known simply as "Crowbreed".
Jasta has issued the following update on the album's recording sessions:
Right now I am up in [Massachusetts] at Planet Z studios with Kirk from Crowbar recording an album for our new band together. Zeuss is producing and Derek from Seemless is playing drums on the album. All I can say right now is that the material is definitely the heaviest and most diverse stuff I have ever been a part of and I seriously can't wait for people to hear this. Kirk is singing with me as well as playing the bass and guitar on the album, and we have both been writing and bringing ideas to the table. It's been killer! Go check out our makeshift myspace page http://www.myspace.com/crowbreed as most of you know we dont have a name just yet so we have been calling it Crowbreed for now.
A previously unreleased song featuring former Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo from his ongoing Southern Isolation project has been posted on the Southern Isolation MySpace page. The song's called 'Southern Man', and the rest of the band are Stephanie Opal (vocals/guitar), Sid Montz (drums), 'Big' Ross Karpelman (keyboards) and Kevin Bond (bass). Both Montz and Bond have been associated with Crowbar.
