Latest Crowbar News
Below is our complete Crowbar news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Note: We began associating news directly with bands in late 2003. Therefore, earlier band news may not be listed on this page.
Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta and Crowbar guitarist/vocalist Kirk Windstein have set "Kingdom of Sorrow" as the name of their collaborative project. The group's debut album, which is currently being recorded at at Planet Z studios in Massachusetts with producer Zeuss (Hatebreed, Shadows Fall) is "almost complete and it is the most pummeling slab of metal we've ever been a part of," says Jasta. "This is seriously going to blow people's minds! We have recorded 13 tracks plus a cover of Motorhead's "No Class". Steve Gibb from Crowbar (formerly of Black Label Society) has just flown up from Miami to rip some solos and leads on a few tracks. We are also going to have two INSANE guest appearances that will definitely shock and excite people. . . Kirk is singing with me as well as playing the bass and guitar on the album, and we have both been writing and bringing ideas to the table. It's been killer!"
In a recent interview with Metal Maniacs magazine, EYEHATEGOD/SUPERJOINT RITUAL guitarist and DOWN drummer Jimmy Bower revealed that he is "sure we'll do another DOWN record. I've talked to Phil [Anselmo, DOWN/SUPERJOINT RITUAL/ex-PANTERA frontman] and everybody else. Everybody's expressed interest in wanting to do a DOWN record, so that's basically all it takes. Hopefully within the next year or two that can happen. DOWN records are fun. Phil's doing a lot better as far as handling [Dimebag's death]. It's been a big wake-up call for a lot of people over the the last five, six months. People are doing cool things with their lives; cool, positive things. Let's save metal!"
DOWN is the New Orleans "supergroup" featuring Anselmo, Bower, Pepper Keenan (guitars, C.O.C.), Rex Brown (bass, ex-PANTERA) and Kirk Windstein (guitars, CROWBAR). The band's sophomore album, "Down II", was released in March 2002 on Elektra Records.
Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta and Crowbar guitarist/vocalist Kirk Windstein are currently in the studio recording the first album from their collaborative project, which is presently known simply as "Crowbreed".
Jasta has issued the following update on the album's recording sessions:
Right now I am up in [Massachusetts] at Planet Z studios with Kirk from Crowbar recording an album for our new band together. Zeuss is producing and Derek from Seemless is playing drums on the album. All I can say right now is that the material is definitely the heaviest and most diverse stuff I have ever been a part of and I seriously can't wait for people to hear this. Kirk is singing with me as well as playing the bass and guitar on the album, and we have both been writing and bringing ideas to the table. It's been killer! Go check out our makeshift myspace page http://www.myspace.com/crowbreed as most of you know we dont have a name just yet so we have been calling it Crowbreed for now.
A previously unreleased song featuring former Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo from his ongoing Southern Isolation project has been posted on the Southern Isolation MySpace page. The song's called 'Southern Man', and the rest of the band are Stephanie Opal (vocals/guitar), Sid Montz (drums), 'Big' Ross Karpelman (keyboards) and Kevin Bond (bass). Both Montz and Bond have been associated with Crowbar.
Relapse Records recording artists SOILENT GREEN have completed work on the first music video from their brand new album, ''Confrontation''.
The video, for the "Confrontation" roll-out track 'Leaves of Three' was shot on location in Atlanta, Georgia by Director Chad Rullman (NILE, MASTODON, THE AGONY SCENE) for Supercollider Films and features SOILENT GREEN (vocalist Ben Falgoust (also of GOATWHORE), guitarists Brian Patton (also of EYEHATEGOD) and Tony White, bassist Scott Crochet and drummer Tommy Buckley (also of CROWBAR) performing in a super-intense setting a la the PANTERA videos "I'm Broken" and "Five Minutes Alone". The video is expected to make its world premiere imminently.
SOILENT GREEN's "Confrontation" album hit stores this past Tuesday, July 19th and will see a European release date of July 25th. The band is currently in the midst of a U.S. headlining tour with support from A PERFECT MURDER, INTO THE MOAT, WATCH THEM DIE.

Candlelight Records announces the worldwide signing of New Orleans' Crowbar. The band's addition further strengthens the label's already formidable roster, including 1349, Zyklon, Khold and the home to Emperor and early Opeth catalog.
"Life's Blood For The Downtrodden," the band's label debut, is expected to see a February 8, 2005 stateside release date. Final studio work on the album produced by the working team of Warren Riker (Down) and Rex Brown (Pantera), is planned in Miami August 14-September 1. Upon completion it will be the band's first studio album in over three years.
Founded in 1989, Crowbar from the onset found an immediate fanbase that today continues to grow. The band released their debut, "Obedience Through Suffering," in 1992. The album would be followed a year later with the highly regarded, Phillip Anselmo-produced Crowbar. The album has sold over 100,000 copies to date. Additional albums, "Broken Glass," "Time Heals Nothing," "Odd Fellows Rest," "Equilibrium," and 2001's "Sonic Excess in its Purest Form," would be supported by worldwide tours, both headline and in support of Pantera, Black Label Society, Napalm Death, Paradise Lost and others. Windstein with original bassist Todd Strange, in addition to Crowbar, served time in Down - the band project by Anselmo and Corrosion of Conformity's Pepper Keenan.
Crowbar recently completed a 11-date European tour, including a performance at Germany's With Full Force Festival and Pressure Fest. The band currently features founder, vocalist/guitarist Kirk Windstein, bassist Patrick Bruders, guitarist Steve Gibb and drummer Tommy Buckley.
Candlelight Records, with offices in Philadelphia and headquarted in London, is distributed exclusively in the US by Caroline Distribution; in Canada by PHD Canada; throughout the rest of the world by Plastichead Music Distribution.
