The NOLA riff lords in Crowbar will release a new full-length album entitled "Symmetry in Black," due out on May 27th, 2014. The album will drop in Europe on May 26th via Century Media Records. Founding vocalist Kirk Windstein comments:
"We are so proud and excited about what we have accomplished with this record! The focus, determination and attitude in the band is at an all time high. We are 100% ready to get this Juggernaut rolling and never touch the breaks again. Crowbar will not be stopped!"
The "Symmetry in Black" album was produced by Kirk Windstein and Duane Simoneaux and was mixed by Josh Wilbur. The new effort follows 2011's "Sever The Wicked Hand."
The new effort will be the band's tenth studio LP, and also marks the 25th anniversary of the inception of Crowbar. Windstein continues, "Crowbar is my heart and soul. The music is a part of me that I am extremely proud of. It's an amazing feeling to be putting all of my energy & focus into something that I created 25 years ago! We are extremely excited to release our 10th full length & to bring the riffs to as many people as possible on tour. See you on the road!"

The organizers of the Bloodstock 2014 festival are thrilled to announce the addition of four more metal bands to the main stage bill, issuing the following statement:
"The very mighty New Orleans sludge metal crew, Crowbar make a return to Catton Park in 2014 for a UK festival exclusive. Led by riff lord, Kirk Windstein, who recently stepped down from his longtime tenure with Bloodstock headliners Down to concentrate energies full time on his own band Crowbar, Kirk and the boys are hard at work on a brand new album set for a 2014 release. Kirk loves Bloodstock and is looking forward to a return visit, enthusing, 'Crowbar can’t wait to bring our NOLA doom back to Bloodstock in 2014! It’s our 25th anniversary, so expect a few surprises in our set. New record, new bassist and a whole new Crowbar attitude!' More...
Housecore Horror Film and Heavy metal festival masterminds, Corey Mitchell and Philip H. Anselmo brought Austin, Texas a rare entertainment opportunity, packaged in human flesh, marred by celluloid cigarette burns--a four-day, multi-stage, multi-tent, multi-everything horror-movie festival. Industry people arrived from all around the world to help support this lofty endeavor.
The gorier the better as many of the major stars of the film portion of the festival had participated in legendary blood spillers such as the "Nekromantik" film series (Director Jörg Buttgereit ), "Coffin Joe" (Director José Mojica Marins ) and "Friday the 13th." Ari Lehman made film history when Jason Voorhees finally sprung to life after the murder of his mother. Lehman attended the festival not only as a film celebrity, but as a musician. Nefarious of Macabre joined Lehman on stage in his First Jason band to perform campy horror metal songs about that guy in the hockey mask. More...

This year's edition of the U.K. Bloodstock Open Air Festival is set to take place from August 9th - 12th, with full details available at the festival's website here. The organizers of BOA 2012 have now posted a teaser trailer for the event, which can be viewed below.
This year's Summer Breeze festival will be taking place from August 16th - 18th, with full details available at the festival's website here. The organizers of Summer Breeze have now issued the following announcement about confirming new bands:
"Since the release of their amazing breakthrough album 'Inwards', Dew-Scented have been at the forefront of European thrash metal. Since then, the cool bunch led by frontman Leif Jensen have been producing fantastic albums full of unstoppable riff power and overwhelming intensity at nicely regular intervals, cementing the band's excellent reputation time and again. In 2012, Dew-Scented aim at kick-starting their career with an entirely new line-up – with the exception of band boss Leif – and the fantastic new album 'Icarus', and are gearing up to shatter the Summer Breeze Open Air into small pieces. We are stoked to welcome the indestructible machine called Dew-Scented at our festival once more. Get thrashed!
"When Agrypnie played the Summer Breeze festival in 2008 for the first and only time so far, they were booked as consolation for all those who were mourning the recent disbanding of Nocte Obducta. Four years, one studio album and one EP later, the Hessians have made a career for themselves, having now reached the same level as the aforementioned group. Their new studio album is still being recorded as we speak, but their last EP 'Asche' was already an announcement for big things to come in the realm of post black metal. Expressive, multi-faceted, melancholic, dynamic – all these attributes fit Agrypnie like a glove and are underlined by the fact that their songs don't ever become predictable or interchangable. One of the most exciting bands our scene has to offer nowadays."

The Bloodstock 2012 organizers have issued the following announcement about confirming more bands to appear at this year's festival:
"After last week’s headliner announcement - where we revealed the mighty Machine Head will be letting fans pick the songs at their first ever UK festival headline slot - Bloodstock and Machine Head are now ready to take requests.
"If you head to Facebook you can now submit your suggestions via a poll. Each fan can pick five songs from Machine Head’s incredible debut 'Burn My Eyes,' and the five most popular tracks will be performed at Catton Hall this summer.
"Bloodstock can also reveal a further three acts for the Sophie Stage and one for the Ronnie James Dio Stage. Headlining the Sophie Stage on Thursday night, raucous rockers Viking Skull bring their loud and proud metal to Bloodstock, alongside Belfast metalheads Sweet Savage. Hotly tipped newcomers Death Valley Knights show why in just a few short months their powerful metal has earned them a much coverted spot at Britain’s most metal festival, and finally Canada’s Kobra & The Lotus make their Bloodstock debut opening the Ronnie James Dio Stage on Sunday." The 2012 edition of the Bloodstock Open Air festival will take place this coming August 9th - 12th, and the organizers of the festival have now issued the following statement about confirming Machine Head:
"It is with tremendous excitement that we can now reveal our final headliner to be Oakland metal titans Machine Head, who will make their first ever UK festival headlining appearance on Saturday, August 11th on the RONNIE JAMES DIO main stage.
"Machine Head first graced UK shores in the wake of their landmark debut album 'Burn My Eyes' in 1994 as main support to Slayer. Fan reaction to Machine Head’s signature brand of crushing metal was so intense that the band would return immediately afterward to headline their own sold-out shows at many of the same venues, launching a massive swell of passionate fan support that continues to this day.
"Seven albums, a Grammy nomination and countless tours later, UK fans continue to champion and support Machine Head as feverishly as they did at those first shows, and this year, at Bloodstock Open Air 2012, they will be given the unprecedented opportunity to influence Machine Head’s set list!
"Commemorating the 20th anniversary of Machine Head’s first-ever live performance at their roadie Mike Scum's getting-evicted-from-his-house party - for which they performed five songs – Bloodstocker ticket holders will be given the opportunity to vote for the five 'Burn My Eyes' songs they most want to hear Machine Head play during their headline set Saturday night, with the five that receive the most votes included in the set list (details to follow)!
"Anyone that’s ever witnessed Machine Head live will attest to the fact that the raw, unbridled energy of their performance is unlike anything else you’ll ever see. With countless legendary UK performances already on record, and a first-ever fan-influenced setlist, it goes without saying that Machine Head’s headline set at Bloodstock Open Air 2012 is going to go down in metal history as one of those festival performances that you’ll forever be glad you got to see. Keep an eye on the official Bloodstock Facebook page for your chance to vote on the songs YOU want to hear."

The Bloodstock 2012 organizers have announced a further three acts for the Sophie stage at this year's festival.
Returning to Catton Hall, Witchsorrow threatens the British summer time with downtuned doom and gloom that echoes metal greats such as St Vitus, Candlemass and Trouble. Says mainman Necro Skull: "We are truly honoured to be returning to cast a shadow over Bloodstock once more. We promise you total doom annihilation, a celebration for the damned as the end of the world looms at the end of this wretched annum. To be in the company of such excellent bands as Watain, Alice Cooper, Orange Goblin, Grand Magus and Winterfylleth is a grand thing indeed. God curse us, every one!"
Returning for the second year in a row, London loud-louts Dripback take a break from the studio to come back to the Sophie stage with their seething mix of hardcore and death metal. The band commented, “For us it’s all about being intense in tents, so this really is the perfect festival slot for Dripback. We’re all so buzzing about playing with Crowbar, Hatebreed, Testament and all the other awesome bands, this really is the best festival."
Finally, Swiss thrashers Battalion make their UK debut at Bloodstock. The Thrash Maniacs check in to say: “It's the first time for us to play in England! What a fucking start! We're looking forward to kick some ass there!!! See ya Bloodstock! Cheers from Zurich, the Battalion-Bastards.”
Finnish pagan metal outfit Moonsorrow and German power metal group Freedom Call have been confrmed as the latest two bands to take part in this years edition of the British metal festival, Bloodstock Open Air, which will take place at Catton Hall in Walton On Trent, Derbyshire from August 10th-12th.
Speaking on the confirmation, Moonsorrow stated: "We are truly excited to take part in Bloodstock Festival 2012. It's been way too long since we played on the British soil in 2008 and we know that lately there has been a huge demand for Moonsorrow to play in the UK. So, all our loyal fans in the UK, we want to see a massive crowd of insane berserks during our set. Don't let us down because we promise we don't let you down, cheers!"
Freedom Call added: "The Bloodstock Festival is the pulsating heart of Heavy Metal...a great audience, which knows exactly to revel."

With a plethora of metal talent already on offer - including Alice Cooper, Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir, Testament, Hatebreed and loads more - Bloodstock Open Air has another addition to it’s main stage, in the form of New Orleans sludge-monsters Crowbar. The organizers of the festival commented:
"The epitome of heavy, Kirk Windstein and co have been showing the world that speed isn’t everything since their debut 'Obedience Thru Suffering' stunned the metal world in 1991 with its downtuned, slow-paced yet punishingly heavy sound. With nine studio albums under their very large belts, Crowbar have mastered the art of the riff, continually delivering irresistible sludgey metal via a sound uniquely their own. With mammoth sludgey slabs such as 'I Despise,' 'All I Had (I Gave),' 'Time He’s Nothing,' 'Like Broken Glass,' 'Nothing' and many more, the Ronnie James Dio Stage will be put to the test at Crowbar’s only UK festival of 2012.
"Over on the Sophie stage, additions come in the form of homegrown extreme symphonic metallers and Metal 2 The Masses winners Saturnian, fellow countrymen and Melo-death thrashers Bloodshot Dawn, as well as Finnish melodic death metallers Re-Armed."
Bludgeoning hardcore, bruising grooves and bittersweet syrupy sludge elbowed the eardrums of Backstage Live’s patrons as they paid witness to two of the standard bearers of ‘90s metal—Crowbar and Prong. Although both bands look and sound very different, both artists lent a hand in sculpting the modern metal sound. The chunky rhythms and mechanized motions of Prong helped direct a stampede of Nu Metal, core and other rhythmic mosh-oriented bands, while Crowbar brought attention to a strong metal scene in NOLA and helped define a more extreme form of doom metal called sludge.
Crowbar and Prong rose to prominence through videos on MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball (when it still mattered). These singles were part of the metal education for many in attendance, so the enthusiasm displayed during Prong’s “Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck” and Crowbar’s “All I Had (I Gave)” came as no surprise. Although those videos built a mountain of exposure for both bands, neither group has achieved headline status like former touring mates Pantera, Sepultura and Danzig, which rang true in the small amount of ticket sales produced. My fellow cruise ship warriors and I awoke on day 2 to a cloudless sunny sky and blue oceans as far as the eye could see in every direction. With the movement of the boat barely noticable, I went to find my friends - mobile phone communication had been impossible since the previous evening, so if you wanted to find someone, you had to know where they would be. I found them at the buffet, where metalheads in varying stages of wakefulness were ploughing through mountains of eggs, bacon, sausages and pancakes. Tea and coffee were the more popular beverages but the drinks waiters were already getting busy ferrying beers back and forth. More...

The 70,000 Tons of Metal organizers have checked in with the following update about confirming Sapiency and Edguy for the floating festival:
"While 70000TONS OF METAL, The World's Biggest Floating Heavy Metal Festival is steaming at full speed course West through the Mediterranean Sea, they received news from their European Scouting Party. After passing through Frankfurt am Main, where they made friends with some new hopefuls that go by the name of SAPIENCY, they continued further East to the city of Fulda to meet the EDGUY! Having a feeling that there is still more in store for them, the Scouting Party continues moving East...
"Make no mistake, 70000TONS OF METAL is not your grandma's cruise. It's also not one of the cruises that share the ship with normal cruise guests. This is an all heavy metal cruise! Can you imagine that? A whole luxury cruise ship full of metalheads? And since there is no backstage area you will have the opportunity to mingle side-by-side with the artists in this incredibly fan-friendly scenario that has no comparison. It's like everyone has a backstage pass!"

Vengeful has checked in with the following announcement about streaming a cover of the Crowbar track "Nothing:"
"Greetings! We are getting closer to the release date. Lookout for a brand new track next week on the release date (November 29th). It features a special guest appearance from another one of the greats. And now...
"Here we go again with a new track available on our Myspace and via the MEDIA section. New to most but old to some. Nothing is a song taken from Crowbar's Broken Glass album (released in 1996). To be quite frank, back then the only Crowbar songs I knew (like most) were Existence is Punishment and their all-time classic All I had I gave. Sometime after Down II (2002), slower music started to be more appealing. Crowbar's music was mostly about weight be it musically or lyrically. Something that I related to while trying to find a sound for what would become Vengeful.
"We wouldn't sound like we do today without bands such as Crowbar and Neurosis. This is a tribute to the former. I took upon myself the responsibility of handling the main vocals on our rendition of the track. A rather difficult task since Mr. Windstein is the boss when it comes to guttural-meets-melodies... None Heavier."
Vengeful also recently posted a Morbid Angel cover track online, with full details available here.
