Vesperia - the Canadian epic metal quartet and recently crowned 2015 champions of Wacken Metal Battle Canada - just released a track titled "Iron Saga," which is one of three songs offered on upcoming EP "The Iron Tempests" being released on July 10th.
The EP was co-produced with the effort of Ryan Bovaird, frontman of Canadian melodeath band Hallow's Die. The EP artwork was also created by none other than Vesperia's frontman Morgan Rider at his own White North Studios.
Rider comments: "'Iron Saga' is about the forging of steel blades from the viewpoint of the steel itself as a sentient, blood-hungry presence. The lyrics talk about the steel coming to awareness while being shaped and it's eagerness to leave the forge to see battle and taste blood. As the song progresses, the steel recalls the ebb and flow of ancient battles and the shaping of the world." More...
It’s now less than a month until Armstrong Metalfest flings its doors open to the gathering masses, welcoming in another round of Canada’s long running camping festival.
Co-founder Jesse Valstar comments: “Bretton [Melanson, the other co-founder] and I started this when we were 19, and it was a large undertaking. Now we’re 26 and it’s grown beyond us! But now we have the necessary reputation to put on a hell of a show.”
And what a show it is: 36 bands in two days, topped off with Californian deathgrind stars Cattle Decapitation and Canada’s own extreme metallers Anciients. The rest of the bill is a feast of Canadian and U.S. metal, from the vicious deathcore leanings of Angelmaker to the technical heavy metal leanings in Caveat, the power-infused melodeath of the hotly-tipped Crimson Shadows to the blackened death metal roar of Xul.
As well as a stellar lineup, there’s plenty of other forms of entertainment to keep a metalhead amused. Not least, AMF have announced a full-sized wrestling ring, kindly provided by BC’s very own Thrash Wrestling, which will stage a 2-hour show, the winner receiving a custom-made AMF Championship belt. There’s also a farmer’s market on the Saturday, “perfect to get blueberries for a hangover,” quips Valstar, and a long-standing tradition of a Beer Helmet March, where the creator of the most inventive beer case helmet gets two free passes for the next year. Random participants also get merch donated kindly from various bands of the festival, so it can pay off to slap a beercase over your head and walk.

Canadian epic death metal band Vesperia has put the finishing touches on a brand new music video for the as-of-yet unreleased song, "The Western Tempests."

"The new music video for 'The Western Tempests' is dark. Very dark," comments band bassist and frontman, Morgan Rider. "We built the story of the video around the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Spending from sundown to sunup over two weekends to give the video its clutching darkness and disturbing atmosphere have definitely given us the result we were looking for."

In addition to a new logo created by the band's frontman / bassist Morgan Rider, the group is also very pleased to announce drummer Dylan Gowan (Hallow's Die) to its ranks, commenting:
"Dylan immediately clicked into place when the guys began to jam with him. We have been extremely quiet lately rehearsing all of the new material for the next release and planning our approach to touring and recording through 2015."
Vesperia is busy tidying up the pre-production tracks for a new album with the intention of recording a professional-quality EP to demonstrate the next chapter of the band.
A message from the band reads: "As of yet, we have not determined a definite track list or title for the album, but we have a general theme based off the written lyrics of solitude in the harshest extremities, balancing the scales of order and chaos and emerging a victor from every battle." More...

Comments the band: "To keep your appetites for new Vesperia sated, and along with recording our album An Oldten Tale, we decided (after many years of talking about it) to record a cover of one of our most beloved Canadian folk songs by Spirit of the West! We couldn't just put it out on it's own of course, so we had to include clips of our Canadian tour during the summer of 2013, including guest appearances by our brothers in Crimson Shadows, Unleash the Archers, Xul & Entity!"
