The previously announced Scion A/V presented High On Fire tour, which sees the California power trio joined by Norwegian crew Kvelertak, has added an additional twelve dates to the incendiary extravaganza with newly announced stops in Boston, Toronto, Chicago and San Francisco, amongst others.
As part of the tour, High On Fire will release a new single titled "Slave The Hive" on October 16th, marking the first new music from the California metal champions since the spring 2012 release of "De Vermis Mysteriis." A limited edition 7-inch will be available at all tour dates with a video for the song to be released simultaneously.
Kvelertak will open all dates, while Doomriders (Nov. 10 to 23), Pack of Wolves (Nov. 25-27), and Windhand (Nov. 29 to Dec. 12) will be featured as the evening opener on different legs of the tour. More...

Rhode Island doom disciples Pilgrim will enter the studio next month to record the follow-up to "Misery Wizard" (reviewed here), and the band will also return to Europe in November for a full tour with Windhand. Comments vocalist/guitarist The Wizard:

In 2012, backwoods psychedelic doom band Windhand released a self-titled LP. The band is now putting the finishing touches on a second LP for Relapse, due out this fall, which was recorded and mixed by the band's own Garrett Morris at The Darkroom and mastered by James Plotkin in Richmond, VA. Further details will be forthcoming.

Relapse Records this week officially welcomes Richmond, Virginia’s masters of ethereal doom metal Windhand to the label’s roster, having signed the quintet for the release of a forthcoming LP. Stated the members of Windhandin response to their joining forces with the Relapse horde:

Windhand has begun laying down tracks for the to-be-named upcoming LP in the band's home studio, The Darkroom, where the outfit will record and mix the entire album, and deliver it to Relapse for a Fall 2013 release date.
