Overkill, Kreator Kill Worcester With Aggression

As if the ante of seeing Testament, Overkill and Flotsam & Jetsam needed to be raised, the thought of seeing Kreator, Overkill and Warbringer was much too tempting an offer. I was fortunate enough to see Overkill on that fateful day – February 16, 2013 – the last show that Blitz would sing on the tour due to contracting pneumonia – which forced him into the hospital in Buffalo the next day and forced the band off the tour. Looking back on that day, I thought despite the illness, Blitz sounded great – however, he did leave the stage nearly every time he stopped singing. Chuck Billy of Testament, who was also sick, sounded pretty awful, but he was a trooper and put on a great show regardless. Flash forward to November 1st and The Palladium in Worcester would be witness to what I can only describe as the “Tour of North American Aggression.” More...

Diamond Plate Vocalist To Miss Rest Of Tour

Diamond Plate has announced that bassist and lead vocalist Jon Macak will be departing from the band's tour with Overkill and God Forbid to return home due to a recent family emergency. The band has decided to continue on with the remainder of the trek with tour manager and close friend Dan Valente filling in on bass and vocal duties.

Jon Macak stated, "I am very sad to say that I will not be able to be a part of the last six Killfest dates. I will be flying home to Chicago Sunday morning to be with my mother who is very ill and needs my support. There is a chance that she does not have much time left so I want to be by her side as much as possible. The rest of the band will finish the tour without me and I want to thank everyone for their support and understanding."

Diamond Plate also added, "We all wish Jon and his family strength through this incredibly hard time. Words can't describe how much Jon's presence will be missed on stage as a frontman, but most importantly our best friend. After these shows without him, we will come back stronger than ever and with a new understanding of what it means to be a band. An incredible thanks goes out to Dan Valente, our tour manager, who will help us finish the tour by handling bass and vocal duties. Thank you to all the fans for the support and understanding, and please keep Jon's family in your positive thoughts."

Overkill Drummer Performs With Meatshank

Overkill drummer Ron Lipnicki performed with guitarist/vocalist Vinnie Camarillo and bassist Murry of Kansas City thrashers Meatshank and members of local acts Vanlade and Hellevate for a rendition of Metallica's "Seek and Destroy" at the Riot Room in Kansas City on April 26th. The performance came during an after-party gig following Overkill's appearance at Killfest 2012 in Kansas City's Beaumont Club with God Forbid, Diamond Plate, Suidakra and local openers Marasmus. Lipnicki was in the audience watching the jam session and when "Seek and Destroy" began he was heard to shout "Oh, I know that song!" then jumped onto the stage and took the reins from Meatshank drummer Shane Cook. It was an unforgettable moment that will forever live in the memories of those involved. Meatshank's "Scavengers" album is streaming in its entirety at StereoKiller.
