Tracked by soundsmith Billy Anderson (Neurosis, Zoroaster, Eyehategod, Taurus, Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth) "A Dracula" delivers eight dark, menacing psalms of sin loosely based on Juan López Moctezuma's 1977 horror film, "Alucarda" in which two teenage orphan girls living in a Catholic convent unleash a demonic force and ultimately become possessed by Satan.

In related Demon Lung missives, the band will bring rumbling rituals to the stage of Crucialfest tomorrow and a record release show the following evening with special guests, Ides Of Gemini, as well as Southwest Terror Fest this Fall with additional live ceremonies in the plotting stages.

Demon Lung Streaming "Mark Of Jubilee"

Las Vegas-based doom bringers Demon Lung will unleash the forlorn fruits of the "A Dracula" full-length next month via Candlelight Records.

Captured by Billy Anderson (Neurosis, Zoroaster, Eyehategod, Taurus, Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth etc.), the record boasts eight dark, devious hymns centered loosely on Juan López Moctezuma's 1977 horror film, "Alucarda," in which two teenage orphan girls living in a Catholic convent unleash a demonic force and ultimately become possessed by Satan.

"Alucarda is a more relatable story for me than our last album's ['The Hundredth Name'] subject matter," vocalist Shanda Fredrick issues, "which made writing a lot more fun this time around. The heroine in this story is the daughter of Satan, who happens to fall in love with the purest of souls in the convent she resides. She coaxes this soul over to the dark, with only intentions of love but in doing so she dooms her to death by the hands of the nuns. The anger consumes her and she uses her dark powers to resurrect her love and together they kill the convent and then the world."

Check out the album's sixth movement, "Mark Of Jubilee," in the player below, and stay tuned for "A Dracula" to drop on June 16th. More...

Demon Lung Releasing "A Dracula"

Candlelight Records today confirms June 16th as the North American release date for "A Dracula," the second full-length album from Las Vegas-based doom metal band, Demon Lung.

Produced by Billy Anderson (Neurosis, High On Fire, Eyehategod etc.), the album will be available for preorder via Amazon, iTunes and physical retailers beginning May 26th and is available for preorder now at BandCamp.

In mid-December, Demon Lung began a second pilgrimage to Oregon to work with Anderson. At the journey's conclusion, eight dark hymns became the "A Dracula" storyline. Using Juan López Moctezuma's 1977 horror film, "Alucarda," as the album's muse, the audio is packaged with unique original art by illustrator Joshua Foster (Pallbearer).

Drummer Jeremy Brenton notes, "When we started the writing process, we happened to be deep into an Alucarda obsession. [Vocalist] Shanda [Fredrick] sat down and made an outline for her take on the film and we all started crafting songs to flow with it. Fitting the mood of each riff and melody with the narrative was challenging but it is the most satisfying way for us to write."

Fredrick adds, "Alucarda is a more relatable story for me than our last album's subject matter; which made writing a lot more fun this time around. The heroine in this story is the daughter of Satan, who happens to fall in love with the purest of souls in the convent she resides. She coaxes this soul over to the dark, with only intentions of love but in doing so she dooms her to death by the hands of the nuns. The anger consumes her and she uses her dark powers to resurrect her love and together they kill the convent and then the world. So like I said... it's a lot more fun this time around." More...

Pitchfork.com has premiered “Heathen Child” from Demon Lung’s forthcoming full-length debut. It’s the second song released from "The Hundredth Name," set for release via Candlelight Records on June 4th. Check out the track right here.

The conceptual album was produced by Billy Anderson (Neurosis, The Melvins, Sleep) and features artwork by English illustrator Tom Bates (Vision of Disorder, Amorphis). Discussing the song, drummer Jeremy Brenton reveals, “‘Heathen Child’ is the fifth track on the record and is definitely one of our favorites to play live. We got the gnarliest guitar tone at the end of that song. It’s the part of the story where our hero, the warlock, kills an unbaptized male child in order to make a flying potion from his fat. Don’t try this at home, especially without a sharp knife.”

The band's upcoming tour dates are:

5/23/13 Backstage Billards - Las Vegas, NV w/ Kylesa
5/30/13 Hemlock Tavern - San Francisco, CA w/ Castle
