Arjen Lucassen Teams With Anneke Van Giersbergen

Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon, Star One, Guilt Machine) & Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering, Devin Townsend Project) have joined forces for new band The Gentle Storm, and they can now reveal that they have signed a deal with InsideOutMusic for the release of their debut album early next year.

Arjen comments: "We are thrilled to be able to strengthen our relationship with InsideOut Music as The Gentle Storm's label."

Anneke adds: "We're in the middle of recording these amazing new songs and are very excited the label shows an equal amount of faith in this release. We can't wait for people to hear it and are happy this superb team will help us spread the word."

Having originally worked together back in 1998 on Ayreon's album "Into The Electric Castle," and reconvening again for the seventh Ayreon album "01011001," The Gentle Storm sees the duo collaborate for a full double-album that will see the light of day next year.

Anneke will also take the music on the road in 2015, backed by a band of Dutch musicians; however Arjen himself will not take part. More...

Arjen Lucassen To Guest On Avantasia Album

Avantasia founder Tobias Sammet has announced the next guest on the band's upcoming CD will be Arjen A. Lucassen (Ayreon, ex-Vengeance). Sammet comments:

"To me he used to be what John D. Rockerduck is to Scrooge McDuck: An adamant long time rival; in our case when it comes to producing Rock Operas. Well, if you can't beat your enemy make him your ally! And so I opened the door and literally invited pestilence into my world, ha!

"Seriously, the truth is that the 'pestilence' I'm talking about is really one of the nicest, coolest and loveliest plagues I've ever come to know, an ambitious artist through and through and a real great guitar player. So, having just come back from a shopping tour in 2912 - where apparently he found himself a brand new pair of bad-ass pants & boots - he went into the studio to record some additional lead guitar for the forthcoming Avantasia album 'The Mystery Of Time:' Ayreon mastermind Arjen Anthony Lucassen."

In March 2013 the new Avantasia Rock Opera "The Mystery Of Time" will be released on CD and vinyl. The album is going to feature guest stars such as Biff Byford (Saxon), Michael Kiske (Unisonic, ex-Helloween), Bruce Kulick (ex-Kiss, ex-Meat Loaf), Russell Gilbrook (Uriah Heep), Arjen A. Lucassen (Ayreon, ex-Vengeance) and the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg. More musicians will be announced soon. More...
