Mouth Of The Serpent Announces New Tour Dates
Mouth of the Serpent from Los Angeles, California is set to hit the road with Apparitions from Phoenix, Arizona on the Plague The West Tour 2013. Just a little over two weeks long, the West Coast tour will be hitting up cities like Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, and many more. The following press release was also issued about the band:
"Mouth of the Serpent has been obliterating the underground California Metal Scene since February of 2008. The band inked their first World-wide distribution deal in 2012, signing to Dallas, Texas based independent metal label, Swimming With Sharks Records. The band recently completed its latest offering, 'Manifest' at The Lunchbox Studios in Sun City, California with Dave Franklin (Ana Kefr, Hands of a Killer). Manifest features the artwork of praised metal-artist Tony Koehl (The Black Dahlia Murder, Embryonic Devourment).
"Mouth Of The Serpent was formed in Los Angeles, California in mid-2007, and since have been cutting out a unique place for themselves in the Los Angeles metal scene. The band blends elements of metal core and death metal with the melodic ways of progressive metal. Their debut album, Inception was released in May 2010, and their sophomore effort, Manifest is also available. Both albums can be found at this location." More...
Apparitions Checks In With Road Report
Apparitions, which signed to Indianola Records last month, has now checked in from the road with the following tour report:
"So I finally have a bit of time and the means by which post another update (thanks to Panera for the wifi and the coffee). Tonight is our last Florida show, which makes me happier than these three cups of coffee I've had. Not to talk negatively about Florida, but I'm really getting sick of re-enacting the battle scenes from Starship Troopers every time I get out of the van; the bugs here really are that monstrous and scary. Other than that, we've enjoyed our time here. After tonight, we head north to brave the cold.
"Yesterday, some friends of ours took us to Disneyworld, which was a welcome break from the usual daily grind of sleeping in parking lots and sponge baths in Walmart rest rooms. Notable highlights included me thoroughly schooling Alex on the Buzz Lightyear Star Command ride (my score was twice as high as his) and Brandon finally getting to experience his lifelong fear of being stuck on a roller coaster. We probably should have been more sympathetic, especially given his refusal to budge from a fetal position, but honestly, all I could do was laugh. I should note that this wouldn't have happened were it not for the efforts of some good friends of ours who work at the park, so to Alberto, Megan, and J.J., we give our very warm and heartfelt thanks.
"Also, I need to recap some of the last few shows: we'd like to thank It Lies Within for putting on killer shows every night and being awesome tour-mates, and I want to give props to Siege of Malakand, a band full of kids who put on one of the most jaw-droppingly brutal and aggressive metal shows we've ever seen. They killed it in Orlando a few nights ago and definitely stuck out among the bands we've played with on this tour.
"After tonight, we have a day off in my hometown before playing Swayze's on Friday, and we're understandably stoked for a day of rest."
Apparitions Signs With Indianola Records
Indianola Records is excited to announce the singing of post-hardcore outfit Apparitions, which was formerly named This Twilight City. On the signing, Apparition's Brandon Spearman had this to say: “We are very excited to be a part of such an amazing label that has had some very historical and meaningful releases throughout the years.”
Apparitions is also pleased to announce that debut album "Kiss Me Sleeping" will be released on February 26th, 2013. "Kiss Me Sleeping" was produced by Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me, Alesana) at his studio in North Carolina. Vocalist Alex Lee commented on this process by saying, “Working with Jamie King isn't something I would've predicted happening. If you told me 2 years ago I wouldn’t have believed it. Some very monumental albums of my upbringing were produced by him. I feel very honored to be recording with Jamie.”
Alex then briefly describes the album by stating, “Kiss Me Sleeping was an original idea for a band name before we agreed on Apparitions. It stands for times in my life I was at my absolute darkest. Like the real me was gone or sleeping rather. All the while there was always someone there who loved me unconditionally. The lyrics on the album are a definite 180 from the This Twilight City love songs. We are more aggressive, and that raw crazy sound needed some deeper lyrics from the darkest parts of me. It touches on my alcoholism, sexual appetite, my ‘Forget it moments’, and just things of that sort.”
Brandon commented deeper on the band's new sound, “We like to describe it as pop-metal, but in all honesty it is a bit deeper than that. We do have some metal and pop tendencies, but we also bring a bit of experimental, progressive and electronic styles to the table as well. With the different styles of music we have mixed in that makes our sound, we would be able to fit in with groups like Chiodos, Coheed And Cambria, and Circa Survive.”
