I love art that shocks just for the simple shock value and the awkward looks I get from people when I mention enjoying things like "Fanta Claus" and "Postal 2." So it goes without saying that I've done my fair share of listening to bands with lyrical themes glorifying every single perversion and depravity imaginable. But once you've pushed things to the crudest and most vulgar level possible, you hit a wall and say to yourself, “Wow, this is completely fucking pointless.”
Yes, I've been there. I've listened to Aryan Terrorism's xenophobic calls for violence. I've sung along to the homophobic hate hymns of Impaled Nazarene and The Meat Shits. I've even praised the lyrics of Rupture Christ and Woods of Infinity with the term, “Pedo to the metal!” Looking back on all that now, it just seems beyond juvenile since intentionally upsetting people and violating taboos doesn't do anything productive. Getting knee-jerk reactions out of people doesn’t make you more enlightened just because you aren’t bothered by the things that other people would prefer not to think about. At some point, you need to move past The Death of God and onto the Reevaluation of All Values. The running order for this year's Los Angeles Murderfest has been announced. The event will take place in April at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood, CA. Here's the entire lineup and schedule:

Prosthetic Records' CREMATORIUM have been confirmed for The Los Angeles Murderfest Version 2.0, to be held Feb. 18 & 19, 2006 at The Knitting Factory in Los Angeles. The L.A. murdercore kings will be playing alongside local and national acts such as A Dying Memory, Anal Blast, Avoid Serious Injury, BlowYourFuckingBrainsOut, Cerberus, xDEATHSTARx, Disgorge, Dr. Know, Embrace The End, EveryManForHimself, Gatekeeper, Gaza, Horsemen Of The Apocalypse, Immortality, Impaled, Infamy, Insatanity, IveBeenShot, Job For A Cowboy, Kill The Client, Life Or Death, Meat Shits, Nocturnal Altar, Phobia, Sepsism, Severed, Sinful Bliss, Springbreak, Strong Intention, Suicide Silence, The Dolemite Project, The Faceless, To The Pain, Warriors, Where Eagles Dare, and With Passion.
Other acts will be announced later, and tickets will be available for $30 per day in advance, and $60 in advance for both days, as well as $35 per day at the door and $70 for both days at the door. Tickets will be available in December.
Origin has been confirmed as the headlining band at Ohio Deathfest 2005, as the group brings their decidedly punishing brand of technical death metal before an audience with an appetite for skull-crushing extreme music at one of the premier metal festivals in the United States.
Ohio Deathfest 2005 will be held at the Phantasy Concert Club in Lakewood, Ohio on June 24th and 25th. Other acts slated to appear include Summon, (who are fresh from a European Tour with God Dethroned), New York's Pyrexia, Mortal Decay, Prophecy and the ever entertaining Meat Shits.
